I am the person auctioning Atlatis II on ebay right now.
Rest assured this the real Atlantis II video game.
I entered the contest back in 1982 and rolled the high score many times over a one day marathon of playing. I took my polaroids of the screen, sent them in and in a few weeks Atlantis II showed up along with a letter from Imagic stating that so many people had rolled the score, that now I had to play Atlantis II and get a high score on that.
The game play is much faster and ships are worth a lot less. I became frustrated because I could not get a grip on the game in the amount of time Imagic gave me.
I sent my high score and after a very long amount of time (and several letters from my mother to Imagic) I received some crappy, ill-fitting swim fins, snorkel and goggles and a size medium Atlantis T-Shirt which was too small for me.
I am now a commercial arts teacher in St. Petersburg Florida and am doing some traveling this summer and needed some extra dough. That's why I'm selling it. I haven;t hooked up my Atari in over 10 years and don't intend to just to get another "screen shot." You'll have to take my word for it.
Back in the day I was just like you. I still have my Atari console, the boxes and instructions and about 400 games total in plastic tubs in my closet. I have the Starpath Supersharger and track balls and all kinds of stuff I don't want to sell.
The game is real! Money back if not satisfied.
P.S. I had the cellophane with the typewriter "Atlantis II" label on it but it must have lost its adhesiveness and come off at some point. Questions? Email me at
