Well, I've decided on the Newell. Mainly because I have an 800XL with a Newell 256k in it.
But wait, I do have 2 1200XLs. My initial thought was to mod one and keep the other stock. I may upgrade both now.

In the thread I mentioned above there was this post:
http://atariage.com/forums/topic/113519-newell-omnimonramrod-os/?p=1375170
That post has a link to download the Omnimon 800 manual. I've extracted the install information, including the instructions for the optional switch from that manual and attached them here.

There's a link to Omnimon 800 docs in this thread:

Maybe it has what you need? I have an uninstalled Omnimon 800 board that I can look at/take detailed pics of if that would help. I'll have to find it in the many boxes in the garage. We recently moved.

I have a 1200xl that I want to put a 256kb memory upgrade in. I have a Wizztronics and a Newell available.
Which would you use and why?

I'm in the Cincinnati area, near Montgomery.
My Atari stuff is still in boxes, but I think I can dig out a disk or two. I don't have a system set up to do the copying though.

Http is port 80. Just telnet to port 80 and send the proper http request. You'll get the raw html of the page.
Smtp is port 25, maybe? (going by memory, it's been a while since I've played with TCP ports). Telnet to port 25 and send SMTP, or ESMTP, commands.

Bob Wooley had a mod to add TTL output to the XEP-80. I have an XEP with the mod, but have never connected it.

Can you put an Omniview chip in place of the Atari OS chip?

1. ATR-8000
2. Black Box w/floppy controller
3. Antic and A.N.A.L.O.G. magazine collection

I would close the mech on a spare disk or something similar. Didn't they come
new with a piece of cardboard or something in the drive slot and the door closed?

I think I have a pin. I'll see if I can find it and get a pic. We've recently moved and everything is in boxes.

Ordered mine today. Glad I didn't wait too long.

I've used DISKEY quite often in the 80's examining floppies. You can find these on ebay now and then with the manual for < $20.
I also just bought DiskWiz-II with the manual on ebay, which I'll scan so Allan can post it to Atarimania

There's one on ebay now. It's a little more than $20 though:

I picked this up with the intention of putting it into one of my 1200XLs:
No instructions, or MyDOS disk, and I now have to pick up some 256x1 150ns chips. But, that's OK. I also have an 800XL that has the Newell 256K upgrade.

Hi Bob,
Was you ever able to make a rom dump of this?
I do not have the capability to dump carts.
Sorry.

So, what is the rarest game you own? I think mine is a loose Golden Voyage, Adventure #12 by Adventure International, a 9/10 on Atarimania.
Not a game, but I have this:

Funny. I just messaged him about a Rev. D motherboard I have laying around. It's not socketed though.

Is there any chance someone with the complete Analog download could seed me? I've got 66% of it, and would love to have it finished..
As I said, once down I will leave them up seeding on a fast server..
Same here. I'm at 65.4%. Anybody able to help?

The RamRod XL board is a separate issue -- this is about the OS's. But along the same line, there was a RamRod for the 800 which allowed MyDos "RomDos" to be in high memory.
The FAQ's are interesting, especially about the various Omniview's, but I see no mention of OSNXL. It does show an "Omnimon XL" and an "Omnimon XE" that do have different CRC values. But I never saw the XE model advertised. I suspect a minor "fix." On the 800 model there was a big difference between 4K Omnimon and 8K Omnimon, and looking at some ads that I have there was also an 8K Omnimon + Omniview for the 800.
AHL's Benchmark should tell us which OS's have the FastChip in them. I'll do some of those.
"Keep those cards and letters coming in," but I'm also going to try to get in contact with Wes Newell. I haven't heard from in in 4 or 5 years.

There's a picture of an 800 8K Omnimon board (with a couple of ROMs) in this thread:

Hi everyone,
I finally got off my duff and did what I've been thinking about for several years. Just as a heads up there will be a website going active soon that offers a board for sale to support the OmniView/OmniMon chips. Other boards will be offered too. Stay tuned. It should go live in another couple of weeks. Still working out the kinks.

You have my interest!
:-)
