I like the fact that the haunting is pretty obvious to Mr. Halloran and Danny. They can see it due to the fact that they possess the Shining. Wendy is oblivious to it and so is Jack. The haunting has to seduce Jack (literally) in order for him to take notice of it. The most chilling line in the movie is "I'd give my goddamned soul for just a glass of beer." The ghosts are more than happy to oblige. It doesn't really matter if the whiskey Jack drinks is real or not, (it's real to Jack) and that's when I think the ghosts have him. I'd like to think that Jack ends up in the ballroom, a purgatory of sorts, along with others that the hotel has devoured and tried to use to "repeat the tape" of horrible events that have happened there.

Have you seen the documentary "Room 237?" Some of the theories expressed in it are waaaaayyyy out in left field, but I was really impressed with the window in the hotel office. If you follow the natural layout of the hotel, the window shouldn't be there.

I also enjoyed the subtle "fuck you" that Kubrick put in to King with the red Volkswagon crashed on the side of the road. The Volkswagon in the book was red, Kubrick had a yellow bug in the film. A lot of people seem really divided over the book or the film being the superior media, but both seem to hold their own pretty well.

Jack Torrence as a character is truly frightening. He is an everyman pulled apart by forces that are out of his control, and some supernatural forces as well.

Sega Swirl is a puzzle game that was playable over the internet, BY EMAIL. You would start a game against another player, then the game would send your move via email to the other player and vis versa. The game is no longer supported online because most email providers block port 25 on modern email services.

Out of all of the classic arcade games done for the PS1 / Dreamcast era, Q*bert is probably the only one worth checking out. It has the classic version and several new play fields added. It's pretty cheap too.

[New Sega Console Ideas!]

Sega flashback would be a cool idea, but I don't think a lot of Sega Fans are casual gamers. I would like to think that most Sega fans are hardcore, own Sega systems and collect for them. A flashback would be just buying the same game over again. Maybe a handheld. The handheld idea has already been brought up in the Dreamcast Talk forums. I don't think any intellectual property owner wants one of those DEMON SD cards in their system. lol

Sega was KING of console creativity. The DC alone had/has internet support, motion control (fishing controller) and VMUs. How cool was that to be able to select Football plays in secret on the VMU?

They wouldn't do an SD card, but It would be an internet download for games.

Sega would be best to do a tablet style portable like the WiiU, but with no console. It would have an hdmi dongle to the back of your TV. Wireless controller, or portable.

Speculating about new Sega Consoles has caused so much trouble in the past that the whole Speculation area of the Dreamcast talk forums has been locked. Not a thread, the whole forum section.

The market for a portable might be there, might not be.

I don't want a new Sega console. The current generation of consoles haven't even lived up to their promise. How many 1080p games are on the PS3? Where are the killer games (besides Killzone 3 and Resistance 3 ) that utilize the move? Sorcery! was supposed to be that game and it's been reduced to a discount title because of it's length of gameplay. The PS3 is considered such a pain in the ass to program for that Skyrim gets the shaft on updates. Phantasy Star Online players get more updates on Private Servers than Skyrim players get on PS3. That game is like 13 years old. Our Dreamcast players get BETTER TREATMENT than current gen players.

Do you really want Sega to go forth into the BS realm of Trophy or Achievement support for another fail operating system for a console? Do you remember unlocks, you were rewarded for good gameplay by getting a new character or car to play with. From a complete game. Now you just buy a more expensive version of the game to get unlocks. The game is usually rushed, and they need to do patch updates to fix the thing after they have your sixty bucks.

I can honestly say that Sega has had a good run at console manufacturing. Buy a Dreamcast, support the new Dreamcast games and developers. Populate the Dreamcast Online servers. Sega doesn't need to be dragged into the mud of another console race. If you want to support Sega even more, than buy a Vita for Phantasy Star Online 2, or wait for spring when they publish Aliens: Colonial Marines.

My Colecovision has no problem playing Zaxxon AND Donkey Kong. I like that. I don't mind Sega not manufacturing consoles. You could rattle off sales numbers, but to be honest I don't think any current console manufactures are doing so hot financially.
