  1. Can he get the license for the Masters of the Universe prototype?
  2. We could say the same thing about high score holders. Billy Mitchell and Todd Roders would seem a little off kilter to most "normies." What about speed runs? People that beat NES games using weird controllers? Like the guy that beat Ninja Gaiden with the Track and Field pad? People that play games specifically trying to achieve glitches? I guess the line is different for everyone. Of course we can always console ourselves with the assumption that people collecting to an extreme are just "Shelf Queens," and people who have refined their playing skills above and beyond our own need to "Get a Job." I'm weird, I like to see all of the box variants that Atari181 posts in his thread, and some of the insane high scores that NorthCoastGamer puts up. Why not appreciate both?
  3. The translation in Simon's Quest makes it borderline unplayable. It was a huge letdown back in the day. I'm really glad I discovered the Simon's Quest Redacted rom hack. It has better translation, so the clues actually make sense, and the day to night transition animation is sped up. I bought a cart copy of it, and it has a battery save to it as well.
  4. Demon Attack with the boss battle. Atlantis with the saucer. Kiwi makes a game with the Starmi character from Star Ocean. I like the animation. digress makes Sword and the Sorcerer or a kick ass barbarian adventure game. With the voices too. "Stay in attack formation."
  5. I've actually been playing this a lot on the SNES lately.
  6. I never really got into the cardboard sets. I think the rarity is based on the fact that the cardboard is hard to find in decent condition. Sears did a Cobra Missile Base for G.I. Joe figures in 1982. The set is extremely rare due to the fact that it's all cardboard. Funko recently did a decent homage of the cardboard playsets of the early '80s with their Alien line. The box art is hilarious with the screaming girl.
  7. Good eye. I just noticed the cardboard Cloud City play set too. That one was pretty rare for a while.
  8. The boxes are pretty trashed. The "gem" of the lot is the B-wing fighter. It was a late production spaceship toy. Unfortunately there is a huge rip in the box.
  9. Similar processors. That makes the NEO-GEO the ColecoVision 3. or something.
  10. I've heard that the waifu is mandatory after you complete five of them.
  11. Slightly off topic, but is there a huge advantage to owning a stand alone VCS? When I first started poking around here, I figured the best bang for my buck would be a 7800 or a ColecoVision with the expansion module. Like it's been mentioned by several others I would go for a Harmony cart first. One thing that has put the brakes on BUY EVERYTHING is collecting by company. I've been slowly building a Parker Brothers catalog and by not buying tons of games, I've been able to sink some decent playtime into (almost all) of the titles I have on my shelf.
  12. One of the most annoying things about the original console. I had Yurkie install a BIOS skip on mine. Just press a button at the title screen and away you go.
  13. Great buyer, fast payment, good communication. Would do business again.
  14. I'm playing my ColecoVision right now. I only shitpost in this thread during game breaks.
  15. Wow, that's some cool Dungeons and Dragons history too!
  16. Um yeah... The "Dreamcast 2" supporters. wew. When I first started poking around old console forums I stumbled on Dreamcast Talk. It's a decent forum group, they showed me how to get my Dreamcast back online to play weekly games of Quake 3 and Phantasy Star online. A lot of those forums were dedicated to troubleshooting online connections, how to get the most out of a VGA box, hidden gems in the game catalog... It was a good mix of hardcore fans of Capcom fighting games, Shmup enthusiasts, and people who wanted to get the DC back online. ...and then there were a couple of people who got off on the idea that Sega had a secret new console in development. It seemed every week they would post new "evidence" to support this, and every time they would be BTFO by rational people. I honestly couldn't tell you if they were trolling or if they really were that batshit insane.
  17. I get that. Most of my exposure to Bond movies was through watching them on TBS on a CRT TV in the '80s or '90s. Having a Bond movie in stunning 1080p quality just isn't really important to me. Modern tech is great for a lot of black and white movies. Creature From The Black Lagoon looks stunning in hi-def. The same can be said for old episodes of The Twilight Zone.
  18. I have a stack of Bond movies on VHS. They flooded a bunch of Goodwill stores in the area with them. Most of them were $1 sealed. I'm still not sure if Diamonds are Forever is a good deal at $1 though.
  19. Smooth transaction, fast payment, would do business with again.
  20. The rampant speculation makes for one hell of a party though.
