I'd say it would be a simple problem. Becuase none of the output devices work ie screen, audio, I'd say a problem before the processors! If your experienced in pulling things apart, have ago. See if you can find anything that may be burnt out!

The engine sounds very close to being finished! Can't wait before a game is available. No matter the cost I'll be purchasing a copy to see the Lynx in 3d action and witness first hand, your awesome programming skills Lucien, well done.

Yeah I'd love to do a meet, how about a general classic video games meeyt? Include Atari, Commodore, Coleco, Intellisvion, Sega, Nintendo etc into one fair? Could be doable. You'd need at least a crowd of a few hundred to make it feasible though!

I was interested to know how many people on this forum are from Australia? Would be interesting to put together a small classic gaming show/ swap meet. What do you think?

The 7800 will not make anymore heat than the 2600. The only component that produces any real heat is the voltage regulator. On the 7800 the regulator is closer to the cartridge port, this is why your cartridge was warm. I suggest you don't play the machine for longer than 60 minutes at a time, and in between sessions, give the machine 15 minutes rest to cool down. Cheers!

I used to have the first one on cassette. I remember my uncle telling me that in the 80's, he rang up the company responsible for Cauldron and asked them how to finish the game- they couldn't help him! A review of Cauldron would be good! I also agree with Cauldron 2 being a better game, generally more spooky (as far as 8 bit games go).

Does a Nomad work w/a 16 bit adapter?
V.R replied to MrsMegaManFan's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Yeah hacking the Nomad can be pretty scarey! Especially those darn torx screws. impossible to get them out!. Modifying the nomad is very easy all you do is change the jumper settings, there are four; one for each territory. Cheaper and better than some foot long cartridge stack out the top of the machine!. I must say, the nomad is a very good machine. Better than the GBA by far, although not as fast, the games are already there! -
Of course a near complete set would make anyones day. I would be happy with all CBS, Atari and Activision collections.

I wouldn't know! Haven't done any research on the man for a while. If I was to hazard a guess, I'd say that uwink would have been a failure, hardly anyones knows about it. I reckon hes up to something! Then again, he's getting on, apparently he doesn't even play video games much anymore!

I love the movies! Especially the second one, cracks me up. Haven't played either games, thought I heard the first one was a piece of shite. I didn't know the second one was out either. Bruce Campbell rocks "Hail to the king, baby!"

Does anyone remember 'Cauldron' or 'Cauldron 2: pumpkin heads revenge' on the C64? Great games, quite spooky too, but very hard all the same.

So.... How many of you used to play.... COMMANDER KEEN?
V.R replied to Atariman's topic in Classic Console Discussion
HHHmmm Apogee. They made some whack games. I remember Commander Keen. Hard to think that the same guy programmed doom and quake, hes a nut case. Helloween Harry was tops, those were the days when computers weren't much better than your Sega or Nintendo (technically) -
Does a Nomad work w/a 16 bit adapter?
V.R replied to MrsMegaManFan's topic in Classic Console Discussion
The Nomad does play Mega Drive games, but not all of them. Don't know why! Most of mine play, but some of the better ones don't, depends on the publisher. There is a site called gamesx, it tells you how to modify your nomad so it will play any game. Good luck. Anyone try the 32x with the Nomad? -
This new engine looks grouse. I must say it runs smoothly, more so than I ever imagined possible. Lucien do you think it would be feasible to hire out the engine to homebrewers to create other 3d games? Such as wolf3d converions and so forth! Or is that not on your agenda?

Should be about another week or two before the first model is completely finished, still needs to have the motherboard inserted and switches mounted. I don't have much time to work on projects hence the delay. When it is finished you guys will be the first to know (except me) Price should be quite cheap maybe $45- $50. That to expensive?

Hey chaps! Been constructing a few solid wood Ataris! Would anyone be interested in buying one if they were for sale. The console consists of solid pine construction with clear lacquer for protection. Of course all option like power and difficulty switches are present, just like a normal console. Would be a collectors item!

Man thats some funny stuff! I take it the game has some sort aim, or goal. Very amusing, might have to get my grubby hands on some of these rareties. Fun for the whole family!

I agree Solaris has wicked graphics, therefore so does 'Radar lock', similar games. I also thought 'Kung fu master' had impressive graphics. The fighters and background details were quite good, considering memory limitations

I've never had the privelage to play these strange games. Can anyone tell me what there like? I can imagine they are very cartoonish, what is the content like?
-
Looks like a swell game Simon. I for one, will definetely be purchasing the title. In my opinion this far exceeds the c64 in almost everyway, what does everyone think?

would a portable Atari XE be possible with today's tech ?
V.R replied to andy_bernstein's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
If I was you i'd start from scratch. Make a completely new motherboard. It seems like a big task, but if you know what your doing it shouldn't take longer than a few weeks. Iam in the process of making a custom ST motherboard that will be no bigger than the length and width of an atari lynx. Thats portable! the smaller the better, as long as you can read the writhing on a small screen.
