  1. One actually sold at that price! Wowzer!
  2. Bravo! Thanks for this service. I have a question. In prepping my 1027, seeing if I could actually do it, I took the rubber retaining clamp off (with tiny screws). My 1027 did not have a sheet metal strip (as shown in your REVIVE 1027 photos). Will that pose a problem for holding the new rubber in place? Just getting ready. It's all cleaned, lubed, and ready. Thanks.
  3. I want 2 rubber print heads and 1 ink roller. How do I pay?
  4. I am SO waiting for these to be come available for purchase. We are ready to use our little clattering machine again for letter quality Atari goodness.
  5. Pac Man Collection! Tops!
  6. Yeah. Brad does great work with our OLD A$$ good stuff. Get the new mylar.
  7. I have ALWAYS loved the idea of memory expansion. I have done several (RAMBO XL, etc). But, as you will soon learn, there isn't much that utilizes it. So, I have sworn NOT to waste my money any longer. I love the 8-bit just as it is. Besides RAM disks, one-pass copies of disks, and Demos....RAM upgrades are useless on the 8-bits. My opinion, my experience only....don't shoot me for having an opinion. No disrespect is meant. Just an honest opinion. I know how 'sensitive' people are these days..
  8. Wow. I just noticed this same thing on my restored 800XL. The XE Cart version is almost monochrome (Either green shades, or blue, depending on the tint I select). My disk version has the red (pink) and green. Strange, I have had this cart many years and never noticed this anomaly until recently. All my other carts have normal coloring. Weird.
  9. I just tried using these instructions. It did not work with 2 different 800 Only carts. The Translator Cart was a waste of money for me. I have no idea what it's good for. Don't buy one is my advice. 1) insert translator cart 2) when the pull message appears, pull the cart 3) the title screen of this translator (Ultrafix XL) should still be there (if not, something went wrong); press the Help key for the menu! 4) now you have to press two console keys (Start+Option) to boot a cart under this translator. The screen will change to one colour and now you should insert your 800only cart. Don`t press Reset or the translator is gone!
  10. I have that cart, Video 61 (Lance). You got it. That's all there is to it. Insert Cart. Turn computer on. As the screen says, "remove cart". That's it. It simply loads the original 800 OS. I have not been able to run 800 Only carts with it. I guess it has some usefulness, but I have not found it.
  11. Whoa. I just bought a 1027 for $50. I need the head and the ink pad. Let us when they are ready for prime time.
  12. Just read the book. WOW!!! What a masterpiece. Thanks for doing this. I never really considered the work and the brilliance of commercial artwork, even though that is precisely what a life long friend of mine does for a living. The book was so interesting that I read it twice through. And the industrial designers that designed our machines, I have a whole new appreciation for them as well. I got a copy from the library, but I think I might want to own this book. I think I am the first to check the book out, it has no marks on it. Well researched and written. Thanks!
  13. Copies of the Dorsett Tapes. Dorsett Educational Systems, Normal, OK. Now gone. According to his ads (which I was looking at last night in a very early, '83 Antic) he had over 2K of programs for our Atari. I own several. They are excellent. Brad at Best may still have a few remaining.
  14. Ditto. Been with Brad since the beginning.
  15. Mom sent me a check for the Christmas of '84. Based on a friend's recommendation to buy the Atari, NOT the Commodore. I lived in Tacoma, Wa. Had a helluva time finding a dealer there. Finally did and paid about $250 for the 800XL and $100 for the 1010. I then found an Entertainer Pak (Qix and PacMan with two CX-40s for about $50. I thought that was a great deal. Then I bought the Atariwriter package for about $50. Still have it all, and use it all. Still two of my all time fav programs. Then it was a printer. I chose the 1027 due to college pagers. I loved it too. Then an Indus GT disk drive. I was in heaven....
  16. I would buy a couple of rollers as well. I used the same roller for many years, re-inking them along the way. My ink rollers never flew apart.. Yes, it too was thrown away with the old 1027 I had. Whaaaaayyyy!
  17. Dammit, Janet! I threw my trusty 1027 away 10 years or so ago when the head flew away. I had heard that Brad (at Best) ditched all his 1027s because there was no hope back then. Now I am gonna have to search and find a replacement. Loved that 1027. I will certainly take a couple of the rubbers when they become available! Thanks for the effort.
  18. I have almost all of the old Antic Mags/disks. I still like to read them now and again, usually in bed readying myself for sleep. I got interested in all the JD Casten programs, games. His stuff was pretty good for the day. Hard for me to play, but nicely laid out games. I always wanted to get The Casten Disk from Antic Publishing $10, but never ordered. Anyone have it? I went through all my disks and made a sorta Casten disk, but I am missing the bonus programs, industrial versions of his games. I still can't play the games well, but am still having a good time trying to. Anyone else appreciate Casten's work?
  19. Vouch for the heated nail through the button trip, it works. Did that on two of my past 1010s. As for new buttons, Best has them cheap. There are two types of 1010s, Sanyo and Chelco. If the buttons are ordered through Best E., be sure and get the right button for your model.
  20. Playing my T.E. Well, this game has breathed new life into my XL. Wow! It is great! Thanks for bringing this to fruition. It is now my fav. I never played Tempest when I was young. This is fantastic. One question. When pushing RESET is it supposed to go to Atari Basic READY Prompt? That is what this cart does. So does my PacMan Arcade. The guts of both carts look similar. Anyway. This is a premium game, sold at a very understandable premium price. Love it.
  21. I ordered the full up disk version of T.N. 25th anniv. Ed. The disk never would load. Never would it go to the new Title Screen. Finally, after two years, a member here offered to send me a workable disk. He did it because he is a good Atari neighbor. Thanks again AA and, well you know who you are. Grateful this site is here. Now I am trying to figure it out without peaking at the screen printouts provided by the package. No idea why the download file or the disk provided originally would never load. Now I am happy. 2 years to make that happen.
  22. Yep. Brad sells the BEST CX-40s around. Glad you like yours. You made a wise choice. With all the Brad bashing out there, thankfully there are those of us that appreciate his unending dedication to our passion. That, my friends, is a rare attribute in today's world. Rock on Brad!
  23. Good economical solution. Thanks for sharing. I still use tubes for display. Mainly cause I still like light gun games, and, well they are great. CRTs still rule in my gaming environment. Then again, LCDs do save space and can be shared.
  24. I still use tapes. Just bought some "new" ones last week. Then again, I still use my Walkman and have 8-track tapes (yes, they still play on a player I have that still plays). OMG, I still use real film cameras too. Wow.
