  1. A young player comes on for his debut for Manchester United. Within 2-3 minutes, his Wikipedia page had been updated to show this.

      Man in the mirror?

  2. England 20 Latvia 0 - Not rugby, women's football. Spain have scored 43 times in 5 games without conceding a goal. The gulf in class between teams in the women's game is incredible.

Norway also beat Armenia on the road 10-0 after a fog break yesterday.

Usually that is a sign of a small sport when a few teams win over the rest 15-0 and only when the top 2-3 teams meet there are even games. I'm not sure if it builds the sport.

OTOH England defeat San Marino 10-0 on the men's side just the other week. We all know that San Marino consists of amateur players and is in the bottom rankings so perhaps the same can be said about the differences in women's football. The only anomalies I have spotted is how the Balkan countries tend to under perform - i.e. Croatia, Serbia, even Bosnia would be expected to do better in women's football given how good they are on the men's side but perhaps that will come over time.

  3. Babysitting grandkids today. The two oldest were a nightmare. So much so that daughter asked: "Have we got any bleach? ... Kids, do you want a drink?"

All the neighborhood parents would tell us kids "Go play in the road!"

When we were kids, it was "go play with the traffic".

  4. Trust a storm with a Welsh name to cause so much havoc. Electricity's been out since 11am and doesn't look like it'll be up until 8pm tomorrow.

Well it's welsh, so it doesn't give a crap. They are like their beers: Fierce and quick

but seriously, I hope you're ok. I do wish you the best of luck

  5. I have come to the conclusion that women are cows. They have at least two stomachs. One for their main meals and the other for pudding. No matter how full they are, there's always room for pudding.

    1. Mik's Arcade

      Mik's Arcade

change pudding to dessert, and you are correct

  6. I had some bad experiences with employers 30 years ago that completely put me off working for others. The company I've joined, though, are completely different. They've just given all employees an extra 2 days off for Christmas. They've also announced the winners of the annual employee awards, with winners getting all expenses paid trips to the US.

@GoldLeader ? It's IT or some kind of tech. ? I work for a large plant hire company that does most of its business in the US. They have their own in-house software development teams.

They hire plants?   LOL...Yeah I kid...Best of luck with it!

You'd be surprised. ? They have a bulletin board with important news every time you log into their intranet app. One of them I saw the other day was about a tomato plant supplier.

  7. Where is the old "You can't make this s*** up" thread when you need it? ?

  8. Wow! That was underhanded. Fuck Paramount.

Ahhh, well, that sucks!  I do have Paramount+ (here in the US) and have been waiting for the new season of Discovery for some time now.  I had no idea it was going to show on Netflix in the UK.

    3. Tickled_Pink

      Tickled_Pink

Ah yeah. Now the stories I read made sense. They were mentioning releases outside the US, which are obviously via Netflix. Makes the story even more bizarre. Sounds like Netflix were going to release it before Paramount because its release date over here was seemingly set for tomorrow.

    4. ClassicGMR

      ClassicGMR

Hulu and Netflix were awesome before the networks decided to open their own streaming plans. I cannot afford to pay for 6 different streaming companies PLUS a cable bill PLUS an internet connection. To quote the prophet Blackbeard "ARRRRR"... :(

  9. Fun Fact: The Welsh national anthem owes its existence to the United States.

    1. GoldLeader

      GoldLeader

Very Curious.  Personally I  think we should have waited until the invention of rock and/or roll before doing a national anthem.

    2. Tickled_Pink

      Tickled_Pink

It was written in response to the author's brothers trying to persuade him to emigrate to the US like they had done. The Welsh national anthem is probably the Guns'n'Roses "Don't Cry" of national anthems, with the loud heavy chorus coming in at the end of a ballad.

  10. I never remember trailers for very long, but the one I do was for a 2002 movie. We all thought it was for a new Batman movie. Really clever. ?

  11. Someone had an amazing find in the UK. An unused Atari STE Discovery Pack in his grandparents' attic. It was still in giftwrap. He or his parents had no idea why it was never gifted. I want, but wife would slaughter me like a pig.

  13. Starfleet built a ship of exploration but named it after a series of warships. Nothing says "we come in peace ... but ..." more than that.

  14. Wow! You really find things out later in life. My great Aunt passed away today at 93. I only saw her about 4 times in the previous 40 years but up until the age of 9, I lived not far from her so I would regularly visit. She'd mention that she looked after me when I was a baby. I posted a photo she gave me of me with my grandad outside her house on FB a few weeks ago and another aunt mentioned that I lived there for about 3 months. First time I'd heard of it. Now, my mother's just told me that the pair of us lived there for a couple of months after she gave us a place to stay when my grandmother refused to do so. My mother was pregnant at 15 and had just turned 16 when she had me and, like she said, it was "worse than murder" back then. She and my dad got married a couple of months after I was born.

      • but l@@k everything is low stock, NOS, super rare, and vintage... some big store chains liquidate low stock items for pennies on the dollar. clearance, too good to waste, etc.

@fdurso224 The Abu Dhabi one's the one. ? Bottom one's not showing up. The top one's one I've seen as well. Not sure what it was. All I know is that the book either had a green cover or a red one. ?

Excellent. Glad the Aby Dhabi is to your liking and the one you were looking for. Now as the exercise that's not showing up.

How about now bro. He's in a bed from what was mentioned. Here's the link.

  17. Take a bow, and the trophy and $1.8million home, Emma Raducanu. Kind of makes her A-levels useless, though.

  18. Best online comment found this morning: I wonder if anyone ever chokes on food in the Imperial cafeteria and Vader has to say "That's not me."

  19. Developed a habit of not going to bed until I get a Victory Royale. #healthyliving

  20. When I saw it, I thought, "aren't you going to look stupid?" If you're going to make a point, make it AFTER the deal's been done. Burning your old Ronaldo shirt because of rumours he was moving to City. Dear oh dear. Too funny.

I don't think he's going anywhere. Not yet, anyway. He has a chance to play alongside Messi.

Rumours say that Real Madrid are about to make Mbappé official any minute, and that PSG are looking to sign Haaland from Borussia Dortmund for almost as much money as they'll get for the French, but the grapevine could be wrong on all details.

    4. Tickled_Pink

      Tickled_Pink

I can't see it happening. PSG might want Haaland but first, they have to be clear that Dortmund are willing to sell before they let Mbappe go. And if Real had any sense, they'd be signing Haaland themselves for that kind of money. Not only that, but I don't think Real are as good a team as PSG at the moment, so it would be a sideways step at best. If he does go and PSG haven't pushed him out the door to make way for Haaland, he would have been badly advised.

  22. Sure you have, Soulja Boy. Sure you have. ?

  23. The lunatics have taken over Edinburgh Castle, citing Article 61 of the Magna Carta and its alleged "legal rebellion" clause. Just one problem. Article 61 is no longer valid and hasn't been since 1216. It also had no "legal rebellion" clause and it only applied to 25 barons elected by other barons. Lesson: be careful what bullshit you choose to believe on social media.

But seriously, the longer you are there the easier it will get. Kinda sucks being the new kid in town.

@jd_1138 Software development for an American-owned plant hire company. They had to start me the week that the one guy who can provide admin privileges for the repositories is on holiday, didn't they?

  25. Starting new job on Monday. Starting with some MS Teams meetings in the morning before heading off on a 4 hour round trip to pick up some equipment. Principally a laptop and apparently two monitors. I think I'm going to need a bigger desk.
