  1. Just got two new kittens. We've no idea what to call them. Both girls, but my vote's on Listy & Smeg.

Pick a couple of good names you like but don't be afraid to change them in a few weeks. Cats name themselves. ;) I remember when we changed Smoky's name to Hobbes - he would pounce on us, was very playful and LOVED tuna so much he'd steal it right in front of us.

Yeah, they have what I think will turn out to be temporary names. My first cat when growing up named himself, in my and my sister's heads at least. We thought he peed a lot and was nuts. So we called him peanuts. Kids, huh??

I had a friend that named his dog Askem.  So when people would say "What's your dog's name?", he would just say "Askem" and people would.

  2. Some people should rot in prison. Especially when dead. 150 years should mean 150 years.

Having to bunk with a corpse should scare any inmate straight!  Brilliant strategy!

  3. Special package was delivered by hand yesterday. A small mahogany casket with the dog's ashes, with a plaque containing his name and relevant dates. And an added bonus of a keychain with a lock of his fur. We weren't expecting something like this. When the wife phoned them, the woman on the phone had just lost her Great Dane the previous week. We found out that another woman was moving house and had asked them if they could dig up her dog's remains and cremate them as she couldn't leave the dog behind - the dog had died 16 years earlier. They did it for her. So, we'll probably do something like this for the cat in due course.

  4. A neighbour knocked on our door earlier to say that there was a dead cat at the side of the main road that looked like ours. It was. Looks like we passed him almost every day for 4 weeks and never noticed the little guy. We had the dog cremated and he's coming home tomorrow. At least now they can be buried side by side. ?

      Sorry for your loss.

At a first glance, I thought this was the opening of a Monty Python sketch, something inbetween the Dead Bishop and the Dead Parrot. Too bad it wasn't funny.

Very sorry to hear this.  It's deeply unfortunate, but at least you now know.

  5. Wondering if my memory's playing tricks on me. Always thought I'd seen SW in '79 when it was being rerun at local cinema - now thinking it may well have been '77.

ok, guess I'll show my age...I saw Star Wars at least twice at a Drive In...(not talking about Sonic, kids)

I remember going to the drive in's in the family's '74 Plymouth Fury 9 passenger wagon in lovely Sherwood Forest Green. We didn't see SW though. I did see ESB in 1980 at the mall cineplex with my older brother and cousin.

I remember being about 3 years old in '77 or '78, standing up in the back seat of my parents car while we were stopped at a red light (no car seat, no seat belt!), and wearing a cheap plastic Darth Vader mask and seeing the reactions of the people in other cars of people smiling at me being a cute little kid.

  6. I was a big boy today. I got the pfizer jab. Next time I'll get the Astrazenica. From there, it shouldn't take long to complete my collection.

I don't think it's a good idea to mix'n'match these things. We do have a bit of a bizarre situation here, though. My wife had her first one a few weeks ago in a town some 20 minutes away. I had mine in another town some 15 minutes away. A friend, who lives just 5 minutes from where I got mine, had to travel to the one my wife got hers, which for him is 30 minutes away, today. The one my wife went to offers Astrazenica, while the one I went to gave the Pfizer. Me and my friend are of similar age, so it made little sense to send him on an hour's round trip when he could have gone to the one that was much closer.

All you lucky people who can actually get shots....

I'm registered to get a jab, but folks in my age bracket (early 50s) are not scheduled to get a first shot until at least May 1st.

Perhaps we should cook together something of our own. I understand that the source code is out there, how hard can it be?

  7. Unfortunately, our dog didn't make it. Turned out to be kidney failure.

  8. Looks like we're on the verge to losing the cat's best friend. The oldest dog's back legs look to have gone. I hate having to make these decisions.

I've kept a couple of "almost gone" Cats a little longer than I mebbe should have, as opposed to taking them to the Vet, it's just so hard to let go, I definitely understand.

We got a pair of Birmans when my kids were young, their "lifetime kittys", a Mother and Daughter.

The Mom aged out pretty recently, and the Daughter is still pretty despondant, I'd like to find her a gentle companion, she just seems very lonely.

Sorry, I hate to hear about yur Doggie.

We're actually thinking he might have twisted something in his back. He came running in, something went, causing him to fall over and have a seizure. He's had seizures before and always seemed to be after he'd done an injury to himself. If so, he may well have the same type of seizures my wife suffers from. But this one was his worst one yet. Going to take him to the vet tomorrow to see what they think.

  9. Cat's been missing 3 weeks now. Looks like he's finally gone. Did well enough to last 18 months with a disability after his aneurism, or whatever it was.

Stories like this, plus experiences growing up with my mother's cats, is what convinced me that when I finally got my own cat, he was going to be 100% indoor.

    3. Tickled_Pink

      Tickled_Pink

We're hoping that someone found him. But don't hold out much hope because of his problems. There was a story a few weeks ago about a cat that was found and returned to its owners almost 20 years after it disappeared as a two-year-old. The owners only had a couple of days with it because it had cancer. The owners were traced because the cat was chipped. The vet reckoned that someone had taken it in as a stray.

  11. 9 year old girl gone missing on the island in an area with a forest and sand dunes. Got separated from her older sister. Been missing more than 2 hours and they need to find her as the weather's turning stormy in a couple of hours. ?

Probably her mother's account. But, yeah. 9 year olds do have Facebook. It's not as if FB's age check is ... um ... foolproof.

  12. Arguing with an idiot is like playing chess with a pidgeon. It'll just knock over all the pieces, shit on the board and strut around as if it's won anyway.

RC in min 2 probably didn't help Southampton. Another RC in min 86 even less, though Man Utd already had 6-0 by then.

Edit: Oh yes and Jankewitz who got the first red card is a 19 year old who did his very first game as a starter, a game that lasted him 77 seconds.

    3. Tickled_Pink

      Tickled_Pink

I do feel sorry for the kid, but it was a wild challenge. I feel worse for him than I did for Gerrard in his last game against United. ? There's only been three 9-0 scorelines in the history of the Premier League. United or Southampton have been involved in all 3. United 9 Ipswich 0 (1995), Southampton 0 Leicester 9 (last season) and now United 9 Southampton 0.

I always carry something explosive just to take out the sweats in the game! Nothing better than taking a shot at someone and watching the Empire State Building go up in 2 seconds ... only to blow the whole base of their monument up and kill them with the drop!

    3. Tickled_Pink

      Tickled_Pink

I'm not that good at the game so rely on stealth. The second Victory Royale I got was, again, against a builder but on that occasion I had those purple bombs that blow you backwards. Those kept him on his toes and I was able to get a final shotgun kill from distance. Daftest one was on my third Victory Royale, where the two other remaining players managed to kill each other. ?

    4. ClassicGMR

      ClassicGMR

Oh I am no builder. I get stuck trying to outgun sweats and I will lose every time. I do have 418 solo wins since I started playing back in C2S1. And I am a HUGE fan of stealth/sniper/sneaky gameplay. Playing on the Switch at only 30 FPS I cannot "run n gun" against PC players but this is my gameplay style anyway. :)

  17. Episode II of Space 1999 watched. Fun to see a young Ian McShane hamming it up.

It was one of my favourite shows as a kid. Landau actually works because he's not really expected to have a tonne of charisma in his character's position. TBH, none of the other characters are really written well. It hasn't aged well but I tried to watch Blake's 7 the other week and that's aged far worse.

@ClassicGMR - I actually had the toy. There were two or three different versions you could buy. I think I had the one with the detachable cargo bay. The Eagle was one of the most interesting sci-fi ship designs for sure.

  21. Got my second ever Victory Royale in Solo on Fortnite in bizarre circumstances. Looks like the other two guys left killed each other. ?
