Angry Video Game Nerd Plays Atari 2600 - new vid....
WispFollower replied to Ataridroid's topic in Atari 2600
The whole avgn character is a service to his fans. James makes all kinds of videos, but if you look up the story of the nerd, you'll find he was coaxed into it. Originally, it was his friend Mike, and then the fans who begged for more. I enjoy his Cinnemassacre, Board James, and really any video he makes (watch his Mr. Bucket video- it's artfully crafted, scary, and funny). He really does "take me back to the past" with social commentary, retro urban legends, vintage culture references, etc. I'm definitely a fan of the guy's work, but I'm not here to defend him- that would be pointless. It just seems like two things keep happening which I will always laugh about and never understand. One is really simple. He doesn't really act and talk like that all the time.. He's just playing a scripted character to fill a demand by a large audience. However, the droves of people on YouTube and really the whole internet keep ranting about how this guy needs to calm down or "it's just a stupid game from the 70's/80's/90's, so why does he care so much?" That's the joke!! Anyway, the second thing, which amuses me to no end, is more complex. It applies to many things including philosophy, religion, entertainment, art, culture, and many more. If something bothers you or you don't like it, stop exposing yourself to it! Are people punishing themselves with experiences they won't enjoy just so they have something to complain about? I think some people live just to get fired up. -

Beanie Babies: Predicted Worth Vs. Actual Worth Today
WispFollower replied to phaxda's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
One big difference here is those things weren't created with any real purpose besides collecting or hoarding them. They are like those commemorative coins, plates, knives, and other worthless junk marketed towards people who think they will go up in value or who just plain have a hoarding problem (limit: five per household!!). Video games were made to be played, so the majority were not kept in pristine condition. Things originally marketed as collectibles almost always end up worthless due to being produced in huge quantities. -
I'm so fed up with the local usps. They can't deliver a package correctly to save their lives! What a bunch of Clavins!

Colecovision Frenzy - 25 minutes Gulkave - 15 minutes Konami's Ping-Pong - 25 minutes NES Dr. Mario - 40 minutes I can not get into this game no matter how hard I try to enjoy it. I just find it monotonous and terrible. I gave up and watched some Highlander instead. No more Dr. Mario for me. The Last of Us on PS3 kept me captivated this week. The in game statistics say I played the single player for over 18 hours! I guess that makes sense- I traded a couple nights of sleep for some playing time. I played the multiplayer a fair bit as well, so I probably got about a full day's worth of playing time in. What an incredible game! I have six Colecovision home brews on the way right now. So, when I receive them, a Colecovision marathon will ensue. I can't wait!

I don't blame you for getting sidetracked- any superior consciousness/AI would come to the conclusion video game collecting is more interesting than world domination. -

I've stayed out too late discussing philosophy and the past/future of the human race. I thought I would just stop by and say something before heading to bed- Colecovision is awesome. That is all. -

Really? Maybe I'll have to give it a second look. I just remember seeing a gameplay video which didn't really grab me. -
