    What I love about all this is how events which occurred in somewhat recent years such as the 80s have been as lost to history as some mythical relic like the Ark of the Covenant. No official records can be found; the only way to find out anything is to start piecing together quotes from historical figures, use them to make some sort of treasure map which leads to the prize, and dig it up. It's as though the 80s might as well have been a thousand years ago.

    Too bad. My apologies. It took me a while to get used to the rhythm of the game- passing almost constantly, timing turbo running to stay away from defenders, and setting up "one timer" shots from 45 degree angles to get goal after goal. It takes really quick thinking to do all that and still use all the attacks appropriately, as each attack has it's own situation in which it works well. The real fun comes out in playing a long season, as you learn to kill off the best players to stay in the playoffs and gain more power for your players. It definitely takes practice to find method in the apparent chaos, and the high difficulty mixed with frantic action is what draws me to the game.

     

    I only enjoy sports games with unrealistic arcade action, and I can definitely see why someone might not feel the same way, as the action gets petty crazy. I'm really sorry you didn't like it.

    Really sad play times for me this week. Once again, work and socializing keep getting in the way of my gaming time. What am I becoming?? Also, I got back into Uncharted 3 on ps3, so that took some of my time as well.

     

    The good news is on the evening of my post last week where I said I couldn't beat my Steamroller score, I broke the record - over 20,000 points, and it was my only attempt of the week!

    It's important to know which time travel theory is correct. Pick any of a number of easy money gathering techniques- gambling might be easiest, at least for a startup budget. Find a "home base" time - safe, good medical technology, fun culture and people - and build a fortress there to relax in and store all the collectibles and artifacts. Only spend limited time in dangerous times, and find a loyal companion to be your friend and bodyguard (a good way to find one is taking future tech to the past and using it to save someone's life, preferably someone with no friends or family to miss them). Consider the possibility you may not be the only time traveler. There may be rogue individuals, our even organizations bent on stopping you. Make sure your home base time is well secured and even think about setting up safe houses in other times to store survival gear, money, medicine, weapons, or especially significant artifacts.

    I didn't get to play as much this week. All I did was work, work, work. I did do a bit of socializing on a couple nights, which is unusual for me lately. I also went to the Pacers game last night with a friend and had a couple Sun King beers. It was a good time.

     

    So, here are my strikingly low playing times this week:

     

    Playstation

    Dead Ball Zone - 60 minutes

     

    Colecovision

    Steamroller - 150 minutes

    I still have not beaten the score I got in this game within the first two hours of owning it (over 15k)! What's up with that? I need a day to do nothing but play Steamroller. On my next day off, I'm going to beat that score!

     

     

    Life seems very unbalanced- work for dozens of hours per week and enjoy video games for only a few hours. I need to win the lottery or something.

    Dead Ball Zone is very affordable. I ordered it right away "buy it now" on ePay, and bidding on Klonoa. How much would you say should I reasonably bid?

    This made me realize I have no idea what ps1 games are worth today.. It's one system I have not bought a game for since back in the day, and that needs to change! Well, so much for building my bank account back up.. I was planning to boost my Dreamcast collection too! Great suggestions in this thread! I love GTA 1 and 2, Tekken 3, Parappa the Rapper, Tenchu, Twisted Metal games.. Ahh it's time for some ps1 gaming marathons!!!

    I haven't checked availability, but I like to imagine the Zelda themed rubber controller covers I bought on launch night may become desirable, especially since they realized people are clumsy oafs and propagated the new "you couldn't break me if you tried" spongy remote covers (which I think have no style or taste). Maybe I should try to find some new in package, just in case..

    I recently rediscovered an old ps1 favorite and played until my hands were in a lot of pain. Do yourself a favor and get Dead Ball Zone. It's a tough game, but incredibly addicting. I almost never enjoy sports games, but this one is an exception. Pick a team, play a season, try to injure and kill the best players on your opponents' teams, and build up your players' abilities with every win. Here's the best way to hurt them right when the match starts: let them grab the ball, then do the most powerful move: some kind of body slam where you drop them on their head. Next, punch them a lot through the match, or use less powerful special moves like groin kick or headbutt. When they start puking, they are nearly dead or knocked out. Hit them with another body slam or use a weapon, and you might get a kill. Do this well, and by the last quarter, they will run out of substitutions, only having a few players left. Run up the score.
