  1. Your best bet to getting help would be to let us know what version of MAME you're running. Perhaps someone here would have information on which ROM would work best for your version of MAME.

You could also do some searches for romsets for your particular version of MAME. Like I mentioned in the first post, MAME is becoming more and more particular when it comes to ROMS. If you upgrade your version of MAME, it's possible that games that worked before may not work after the upgrade. Kind of a PITA. :(

I use mainly use 0.136, as that was the current version when I got into mame. I also have the most recent version, but there are roms I can not get to work with either. I have been trying to research the issue, and all I could find was that I needed some namco51 and namco53 zips. I downloaded those, and that didn't help either. I audited digdug to see what I am missing, and this is what it says: digdug : 51xx.bin (1024 bytes) - NOT FOUND

    digdug : 53xx.bin (1024 bytes) - NOT FOUND

I thought the namco zips I downloaded had those files, but who knows what I'm doing wrong at this point. I feel completely lost. I just want to play Dig Dug!!

  2. EDIT: Holy crap, NES Smash T.V. has a dual controller mode? That's awesome! I had no idea. Time to dust that mofo off.

EDIT 2: Haha, good lord, there it is on the title menu. I can't believe I've been unaware of this.

Yeah, it really adds to the fun of playing through such impossible challenges. I use an NES Advantage and a Honyu Explorer combination. One day, I will go for the world record.

  3. It is difficult to make a general rule about this kind of thing. I find it easier to judge them on a case by case basis. I used to think I had no problem with it.. supply and demand, etc. However, some recent events and activities of a certain member on this site made me reconsider my philosophy. People can do what they want with their capital and property, but sometimes it is glaringly distasteful. I have never sold a single gaming item, but I have recently begun a mental list of people I will not be dealing with if I ever do sell.

  4. I really enjoy the challenge of extremely difficult games. One tough game which grew on me is Predator for nes. I enjoy the music, and difficulty is high. You must be perfectly precise with your jumps, and the enemies can be unpredictable at times.

Another excellent and facemeltingly difficult nes game is Smash TV. I got really addicted to it once I learned of the dual stick controls.

  5. OH! I did not think it were possible! A last minute sniper. LOL!

    Congratulations, Grand Elf Master WispFollower!

There's still a bit more than one hour left. Liduario, are you going to let that stand like that? ;)

    CvW Leaderboard updated.

Thank you, DZ. I had a lot of fun and got really addicted to this game. It was an honor to play in this contest with all of you!

  6. Burgermaster: Champions

    Super Pro Burger Battle

    Legends of the Bun

    Burger Stomp

    Burger Scramble

    Bun Run

    Burgertime: Double Bypass

It seems another good option is something with "overtime" in it, as it references the title Burgertime and correlates with the extra levels.

    Burgerwalker: Overtime

    Burger Panic: Overtime

    Peter Pepper's Working Overtime

    Burger Time and a Half

  7. Might be a tall order to track anything down about Pizza Time. As far as I know, it was planned to be a Coleco release, but was originally planned to be developed by Mattel/Nice Ideas in France. Beyond that there has never been any further news or information as to whether development ever got started.

It sounds like I better start training on how to swing across things using a bull whip. I can't wait to crash through my first castle window.

  8. The Joust prototype was released in rom format many years ago and was even made available in the early 2000's in cart form by C.G.E. as well as AtariAge. This particular Joust prototype, however, does not contain any sound effects or music. It is widely known that one person does have all the separate sound code for the game, but is not willing to share it with the community.

What is the motivation to hold on to the last piece of a puzzle?

  9. Funny, this just popped up on techcrunch today.

It seems some of the people commenting on the article need to work on their reading comprehension. That was a good read, and I thank you for posting it. Historically, banning art to "save people" has proven only to backfire. I hope intelligent people keep voicing their opinions in the future, defending video games from crusaders who think they know how billions of other people should spend their time on earth. None of this is directed at the original poster, just general musings.

  10. I used to watch ebay all the time, searching for perfect condition cib nes games. I got some fantastic items, but I had to stop buying, and eventually stop watching. I can't bid on everything, and it became too painful to watch incredible deals going by all the time. For the final purchase, I went out with a bang and got a mint condition Adventure Island 3. I was looking for that condition for years: crisp corners, plastic still on the box, barely slit to be opened, all inserts, and the lid looks like it has only been opened a few times.

I have a sizeable list of games I want in the condition I described. Near the top are Zombie Nation, Little Ninja Brothers, and all the KOEI games I can find (I only have a few). I think it will take me more than a few years to hunt those down.
