  1. Speak with nick at 1632 systems.. I bought a copy of Ishar 1 & 3 off him at JagFest UK.. www.1632systems.co.uk. I am sure he had falcon versions too. I have the Ishar Triolgy and RR Falcon Version that I bought from 16/32 Systems. RR crashes in the 256 Color mode for some reason and is supposed to use the Falcon's higher graphic abilities than the ST. It works fine under the ST modes. Nick was supposed to get back to me on that to see if other copies have the same problem. It's very slow on the Falcon. I'm hoping the Jag version is quicker in fight scenes than Towers II and better sound effects.
  2. Scott directly helped them by suggesting improvements they could make to their 3D code. I developed test programs for Tom to use for developing the Catbox. I worked with Tom to get the Catbox perfected and to circumvent the UART bugs. He passed one of my bug fixes back on to Atari and eventually they determined the cause and why the fix worked and put it in the manual. They never gave any credit to us, so we never told them the other bugs we fixed. It took me several months of trail and error to find these UART fixes and Scott and I wanted to keep them to ourselves, but to promote his Catbox, Tom gave my sample programs away to developers. I can only imagine that he took my copyright notices out and/or put his name on them. So, I didn't work directly with them on Air Cars, but I inadvertently "helped" them. Wow. Very interesting indeed. I guess this was another factor besides the pre payment incident that made the formation of Scatologic and the end of 4play since Tom was part of that at the time. I don't know of any other developers that have benefited from your work as of yet but I guess the current ones who are creating stuff now? Thanks for the insight.
  3. I thought they were the same, with different labels. Stone Nope. Different graphics, different menus, different network setup, different code, different different different different!!!! The label is only the icing on the rarity cake!!! So is the K-A version better or is non K-A better since they both differ in Graphics, etc. I have two non K-A but they are both heavier than any other Jag cart I have. They both came sealed with instructions and Cart holder box but no orginal Jaguar art cover box. I was told that ICD did not sell them with the artwork boxes. I only see on the credits thanks to Tom Harker and Scott Le Grand. May I ask you T-bird, what you did to help out during 4Play's involvment? Also it says that more than two Jaguars you would have to use Cat Net on the Catbox. I forgot but does the Scatbox allow you to network more than two Aircars? I know with two Jags you can but what about 3 or more? I also read somwhere that Midnite assisted 4Play with the solid network code or was it the other way around? Thanks
  4. Excuse my ignorance here but I see no game inserted on that Jaguar. Are you guys just staring at a blank TV or is that Jaguar with the Catbox with BS box for support just a prop? Here are my pics for compare and contrast. I like the Scatbox for its light weight and non skid rubber boots but it is tight on the connections if I really need to use them all. I like the Catbox because of the headphones and the connections have better spacing but it is heavier and could damage to DSP/Video connections on my Jag if I was stupid enough to lift the Jaguar from the front end. Who is stupid enough to abuse their Catbox anyway?. Other than that both excellent products. If I had a choice of which product were to break on me it would be the Scatbox because the Catboxes are not being manufactured and the Scatboxes are currently still available although very limited supply the last time I saw the website. Now play nice.
  5. I have Space War 2000 and Charles Barkley and the stuff that came with BS Gold/Jugs combo pack. I'm too much of a compulsive buyer and I'm surprised I really held back on the modems. I was tempted to bid and was willing to go as high as $550.00 but I figured it would have gone higher. When I saw the final bid I may have had regrets on not bidding but I would probably only play a few times then store it away anyway. Besides I really need to use my money that would bring better joy like renewing my season tickets for hockey and some new tires for my car. I have seen Jaysmith's website and it is very impressive. I personally would not have the room for all that stuff. I have too much things from my past from the 77' original 2600, 5200, 7800, 800, ST, Portfolio and recently picked up a Falcon 030, Video Music and Touch Me as well as the Jaguar. One thing is for sure that when I do finally get rid of all this stuff it will all go together. Unless I have it buried with me as a last request As far as my collection on hardware 2 ICD SC1224 RGB adapters for Catbox or Scatbox 2 Catboxes 2 Scatboxes (Regular and Deluxe) 2 Jag CD units 2 Jaguars 2 Pro Controllers 4 regular controllers 1 team tap 1 Jag Link As far as other prototypes for hardware. I honestly have no use for collecting if I am not going to be using it on a consistent level let someone else enjoy it. Software, I will purchase as long as it readily available. The only thing is to be ready when there are limited runs on the software. Have fun all and keep Jagging!
  6. "It is an exact conversion, published by Atari and developed by Atari. Except it is superior in every respect, and the soundtrack is remastered for superior sound quality. Ftovar, by the way, Interplay bought out Atari's publishing rights at the time. So that's why it was released by them. Only recently has the Atari name been revived. Infogrames purchased the rights to use the Atari brand name." Publishing is one thing but above you said that Tempest X was published and made by Atari. Now it's true Tempest was made by Atari's arcade divison under Warner Communications while Atari was still Atari Inc. I know the history of Atari very well since I followed it since 77 with the 2600. The name is really not the same without the hardware/software combo. Atari used to be ahead of their time and with the Tramiels owning it that just made it worse. What I did not know was that the port of Tempest X was using Jeff Minter's Tempest 2K source code. I thought new programmers came in from Interplay and programmed that version to the strengths of the Playstation. On Minter's review he states that they took features out and included new ones. So what you are saying is that the games were already completed in house by Atari but when they went belly up Interplay came in and bought the license fees to publish Tempest X. Is this correct? Thanks
  7. The Playstation version was done by Interplay not Atari. Interplay I don't recall was ever a subsidy of Atari. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong here. Here is a review from Yak himself comparing the Playstation version to his Jag version. I never played the PS or Saturn versions so I have no opinion on the gameplay. If you like one version or another that's good but again it always a matter of opinion. Better graphics and speed does not always make a game better. I prefer Protector over Defender 2K even though Defender2k is faster and better graphics it's just not very playable for me. It's playability and replay value of a game is what makes a game in my opinion. http://www.vidgames.com/ps/reviews/tempestx3.html
  8. I have not ordered from them in a long long time. I noticed though that their shipping charges have lowered. They used to charge higher for shipping, so I stopped ordering from them and shopped elsewhere.
  9. Well, since this subject is about what is needed to complete the Jag collection. I need the following to complete mine. Hyperforce Soccer Kid Protector S.E. (Is there much of a difference from the original?) I won't count IS 2 since I have that on CD and there is no need to get the cartridge version since it was just an edit version(no fmv) and made for the Jag users without the CD. However, I do have all the original boxes & instructions for my cartridges and long boxes for my CD's plus an extra Brain Dead 13 long box. Mine was defefective and Readysoft just asked me to send the CD to them and they sent me a whole new long box and CD. I'm not selling it because I will get an extra Brain Dead 13 and give it to my in law. I don't care for the different versions of Cybermorph since I'm happy with the one that came with my Jag back in 93 plus the one that came with my extra Jag I purchased from Dentec a long time ago when they sold Jag stuff.
  10. Thanks for the info. I never knew there was a patch for the Falcon. I also do not recall If I even have NVDI and if I do it may have been just 2.x. I will have to dig around during quarter break. I have to study for finals till next Thursday. Thanks to all who responded.
  11. Why don't you check with Steinberg and see if they can sell you the cartridge part. I don't think it would be too expensive. That company still exist since I get newsletters from them.
  12. I know warp 9 made my ST redraw faster but will it make any difference with the Falcon 030?
  13. Cyberstudio. Is that the one that saves in SEQ format? I have my original software for my ST. I would have to check around for it. I had 3.0 if I recall. I keep all my stuff well sealed so hopefully it works. I will check over the weekend and see if I have it. It's been a long time since I used my ST but recently picked up a Falcon 030 for collection. I will let you know if I do have it.
  14. Well, I got my Atari PC keyboard from Best Electronics and my Atari PC-3 boots up fine. It had to be an XT keyboard and not an AT one. I got a scanned manual from a cool guy over at Atari.Org. It's not Y2K compliant though. It does hav GEM on the hard drive so I have to figure out how to get that working. It has MS DOS 3.21 and GW Basic 3.22. It's time to tinker around.
  15. Tsk, Tsk, Tsk. Why didn't the book just tell me that they converted 0110 to decimal 6 and 1011 to decimal 11. The reason I was confused was because they had (6 + 11) next to the final answer of 10001 with no explanation that it was assumed. I totally understand it now. Thanks to all who helped out and on to the next chapter.
  16. Didn't bother to post it there because I did not see that particular forum. This is Lynx related as the header states. Atari Lynx All things related to the glorious handheld system. However thanks for the Marketplace forum for me. I will use it next time.
  17. Ahh I see where I made my mistake. 1.) I did not read the book correctly. 2.) I did not read your post correctly either. You did clarify my question and explained that it's straight binary addition and multiplication with NO conversion to decimal. However, this is where I get confused. Where as converting to decimal you would 1 x 2^4 + 0 x 2^3 , etc. How do you read/add the end result 10001 to equal (6 + 11). This is where I do not see the answer. Example on Page 10, the Binary number 0101 is abbreviated, etc. This is what confuses me. Thanks for answering and helping a newbie out.
  18. That is what is throwing me off. How did they get 6 + 11 if we are trying to convert binary to decimal. The same with the multiplication. 6 * 11. I can't seem to understand how they get those numbers when we are using the 1 * 2 to the power or 0 * 2 the power then add the numbers to get the end result. What am I missing here? I know it's probably simple but it's got me confused. Geez and I'm barely on page 12. Thanks
  19. I have an extra BattleWheels I would like to sell for $20.00 which includes $3.85 U.S. priority shipping. It's shrinkwrapped never been opened. So if anybody wants to add this to their Lynx collection let me know. Thanks
  20. Does anybody else have this book by Abacus Software? I think I need help on page 12 or is this just a typo on their part? The part where they add two binary numbers 0110 1011 10001 and then get the answer on parenthesis, they have 6 + 11 =17. Should it not be 16 + 1? The end result is 17. Also on the multiplication part I understand how they get 1000010 when they multiply 0100 * 1011 but again the parenthesis throws me off. They have 6 * 11 = 66. I thought you still had to just add the end result. I get 64 + 2 = 66. The end result is still 66. Is there something I am not doing right here to verify the end result? Thanks

    trackball problems

The only thing inside the track ball you have to worry about is the damn fire button springs. I somehow lost one of mine. Other than that everything inside is easy to put back in place because they snap back in place. If the cleaning does not work then you have to replace the sensory module. They only cost 5 bucks each but must be unsoldered and soldered back in. The fire button springs are the same as the joysticks.
  22. Thanks to all who replied. I was able to get the original PCM 124 monitor for it from Best-Electronics. It turns out that all this time that I had Best's catalog and never checked it thorughly. Brad had only two left. The monitor automatically adjusts to the settings of the monitor switch you select on the back of the PC. I don't have the manual for the PC-3 and as I stated before, B&C could not help me with too much inventory to locate the manual. Upon boot up the display showed "Smart EGA" detected and 640K ram good. Then I got a keyboard error. Press F1. The monitor does use the DB9 pin and the Keyboard uses the 5 pin BIG round connection not the little 5 pin din that modern PC's use today. I have the keyboard for it but I think it is broken due to some dumb cats not knowing any better. You can use your imagination, I'm just going to use this for my Portfolio since my PC does not have any ISA slots for the PC card drive. Thanks again
  23. Does anybody have this computer? I bought one from E-bayer in Australia 2 years ago and it works but I never had a manual for it and no monitor. The only company that I know may have the manual is B&C but as of yet they are too busy and have too much unorganized inventory to find a copy. I need to know the type of monitor it works with. The SC1224 does not fit the connection. I have seen the Atari PCM124 which is the same as the SM124 but need to be sure that this is the monitor that works with the Atari PC-3. Can anybody else help?
