I think some are doing this by getting from SCSI to CF card.
-
I added a few to mine even though I have not really done anything.

I missed out again? lol

I bet that there are some that are compatable with RS232.
-
TI-Sissy,
I believe the F18A supports a 512 color palette. Much more colors than stock. I could be wrong. That is what I gathered from Matt's website.
-
Does HDX use something that normal RS232 Serial ports do not support? Why is a hack needed?
-
I wonder if the 512K ones will surface? The fact that it has an AVR intrigues me..

Oh relax.. No one is stupid here..

If I was a betting man, I bet he used the remote jack portion. I am guessing that toggling a relay or transistor is not worth screwing around with the audio.

I use xubuntu. On my Windows desktop at work I just right click files and choose "Open With" or something like that.

Something like this might be cool to have on this forum...

The day my 9938 fails will be the day when my TI (more specifically, Geneve) hardware era will be over. Sad thought.
I am sure that you can cannibalize one from something.

Rich,
Just open them with any text editor.. Notepad or even Wordpad if you have windows.
They are text files with an asm extension. Just like xml is a text file.
No need to give it a different extension.

Quick question idea related to the sound idea.. Could the tape deck port be used to send sounds to some sort of D/A convertor and control things? That analog protocol is already defined. He would just have to know what the protocol is in order to decode it.

But we are not discussing that majority, but rather the minority like us who do it for fun, individual discovery, and to some degree camaraderie.
Good point. Common interests. I was thinking monkey see monkey do.. oops I kind of forget that we are talking about a little group of people here.

Having the latest and greatest also makes one feel part of the community.....
I would like to think that most people buy something because they want it and not because they want to feel part of something like sheeple.

The F18A has some GPU-only RAM that I initially called "GRAM"...
You should have called it Honeymaid.

@slinkeey and sissy: The TI community is renowned for this kind of "attitude" (for lack of a better word.) It is the "TI Curse" and has driven many people out of the community forever and created life-long anger and grudges. You either get thick skin, stay out of such discussions, or leave.
blablabla... blabla... bla... Is what it is.. I am heat because I want to see what I can do with my TI.. I don't care about the bickering.

TI-Sissy appears to be harmless to me.
Sounds to me like she stumbled on a TI-99/4A, and finds it to be an interesting machine. She probably googled TI-99/4A and ended up on this forum. Everyone has their own reasons for owning this machine.Looking in from the outside, it could look like a bunch of old crabby guys bickering over every little thing. Oh well. Maybe she will see that it really isn’t that bad, and that many here just like to debate. Hopefully she sticks around.
I’m that goof sitting on a TI-99/4A, with a F18A installed, and no plan on what I am going to do with it yet. I need to get some kind of storage, and I refuse to get a cassette deck. I am not a big gamer, and I am not into text editors. I use text editors, but they don’t really get me excited.

Nothing has changed.. You can buy expensive enterprise software packages and you can that it is going on. I have heard the term silos used. Groups stays in their silos and never break out.
-
All the more reason why this would be a great project for you.
-
Sounds like a good project for you.

I can't help to notice the AARP commercial on the TV in Kevan's den.
I'm just taking notice.
