  1. Two options worth considering: 1) Get a 3D printed mini-steering wheel add-on for your modem day gamepad and add a paddle to it. I've created a tutorial on this and show Tempest from Atari Flashback being played on my Xbox One with my wireless controller at the 28 minutes 13 seconds point of this video: 2) Buy a mouse/keyboad adapter for your modern-day console and use an arcade spinner controller with buttons that has PC mouse protocol to play Tempest. That's really the most genuine way to play.
  2. Here's a link to the method that has worked for a PC controller (joystick/spinner/trackball combo controller) that I have. https://photos.app.goo.gl/PCemtCyGfzUac3qg8 I discuss this on my Wired-Up Retro presentation at around 12 min 40 seconds here:
  3. I know of no adapter that can get 9 pin Sega controllers working on NES. After doing 6 years of Wired-Up Retro YouTube video presentations on a good variety of classic system controller adapter options, I can assure you that I have looked pretty hard for one of these and found nothing.
  4. Nice patch I unfortunately didn't have too many Activision games back in the early 80's when I played my 2600... maybe Enduro and Keystone Kapers, but I wasn't good enough to get the patches.
  5. I disagree. I've played Intellivision Dreadnaught with that disk controller... I'd pick a joystick any day over that.
  6. 5200 HERO has one additional aspect of control that exceeds what was done on all other consoles and computers. The 5200 Activision programmer took advantage of the analog joystick for hovering, in that you can press the stick all the way up to rise, or halfway up to hover, or let it recenter to drop. I really like HERO best on the 5200 because of this control feature (yes, even better than the Atari 8 bit computer version). Also- River Raid has nuanced analog control for the speed of the plane which no other version offers.
  7. I'll be at the table next to Rick, so stop by and say hi to me! Steve
  8. So I decided to make a Dual Shock 2 paddle and use it with the Playstation to Atari 5200 adapter, and it works very well on games like Super Breakout and Kaboom! It's featured and shown here for those of you who might be interested: https://youtu.be/flWbfwYdSIU
  9. Just did a video on trying out a bunch of classic 80's games to see if they work on the Retron 77. Got a working/nonworking ratio of 83%/17%. Not bad
  10. Found this old thread and couldn't resist showing off my option for two stick control: A 3D-printed Proline controller coupler. Not only nice for 2 stick Battlezone, but the new Robot War game made by Champ games (Robotron 2084).
  11. The sequel episode is up. It's all about using modern-day controllers on Intellivision. The pinnacle of this presentation is using my custom Tron 80s Arcade multicontroller to play Tron Deadly Discs
  12. Your situation is common due to old controllers getting oxidation of the internal button contact points. The contact points can be cleaned with rubbing alcohol and that'll temporarily get things working (unless the flex circuit is shot) for a while. Here's my tutorial video on this:
  13. I have a way of doing it. First you'll need to obtain a cut-off NES controller cord. Then take a solderless male 9 pin connector and figure out the pinout for the mini-7800 Flashback controller (which in reality is just a Famiclone controller) so that each exposed wire can be properly connected to the proper pins of that solderless connector. The proper connection is shown at the 21 min 53 second point of this video I made: https://youtu.be/OGUFRtBVYU4 Then plug your Flashback controller into the adapter you just made and test it on an NES. If it works, you are almost there. Five items have to be purchased in order to get that adapted Famiclone joystick (or any NES controller for that matter) working properly on the 7800: 1) an Edladdin Seagull 78 controller adapter. 2) a Camerica Freedom Stick with Receiver. You are really just after the receiver. The receiver has the capability to have NES cables or Genesis 9 pin cables attached to it. Make sure to obtain the Genesis 9 pin cables. 3) a Camerica Freedom Connection device (don't necessarily need the receiver it came packaged with). 4) an NES controller extension cable. 5) an NES Fourscore multitap. Method: Plug 1 into controller port one of your 7800. Plug 2 (the receiver with 9 pin cables- preferably the "controller 2" cable) into 1. Plug your Mini-7800 Flashback joystick with homemade solderless plug adapter into 5. Plug 5 into 4. Plug 4 into 3. Now turn on your 7800 with game inserted (preferably a game that uses 2 buttons), and then turn on your Camerica Freedom Connection (set to represent controller 2). Enjoy using your Flashback controller on your 7800. Here is my proof of concept video on this:

  15. I borrowed an Atari/Sega adapter for my Intellivision 2 and Telegames Super Video Arcade consoles from a friend last month, and got some interestimg results. This particular adapter was made by Grips03 back about 3 1/2 years ago, and it really is opening opening up new possibilities for controlling games on the Intellivision- with even some very cool mice and trackballs. Check it out:
  16. I'll take the one with the jumper wires. Thanks! How do I pay?
  17. Here's my idea: https://youtu.be/TVyCBsLU1jM
  18. Today I've got a presentation to share that has to do with two products: 1) The new Playstation to 5200 Controller Adapter designed by Dr. Scott Baker and provided to me by Tony Stout. 2) Wico Command Control fitover joystick add-ons (3D-print design by Tony Stout). Both products are reviewed and demonstrated with games like Space Dungeon, Roboteon 2084, anf Missile Command. Check it out:
  19. Here's my latest product review having to do with the Playstation to Atari 5200 controller adapter with two stick compatibility on Robotron 2084 and Space Dungeon. I also reviewed a 3D-printed product made by Tony Stout that is a fit-over joystick for the 5200 Wico Command Control. Enjoy!
  20. I think you can use just about any USB PC controller to play Stella on a PC. The Thrustmaster should work.
  21. I reviewed the new Trooper 2. Haven't tried it yet with a Retron 77, but I tried it out on a 2600 emulator game on my Ouya and it worked very well. That's shown near the end of the presentation:
  22. Try Xpadder (assigning keyboard keys to your joystick actions) and- for whatever game you got on Steam- go into the keyboard mappings for that game and assign what you want your keybindings to be. Should work.
  23. Just now seeing this. There's a way to install an actual Atari paddle onto a Dual Shock 4 with help of a 3D printed mini-steering wheel you can find on Etsy or Ebay. If you buy a wireless 8bitDo adapter that converts the Dual Shock 4 to Switch, you'll have a somewhat easy way to play Atari paddle games that are on Atari Flashback on your Switch. Here's my video showing how to install it:
