  1. Hi folks, I am looking for a membrane for a XEGS keyboard, the rubber dome/folded over type mylar. Are these available anywhere? I am in Ireland.
  2. So, I finally received the replacement screen Thursday this week and was able to successfully remove the old screen and fit the new one in place. The McWill kit is working perfect now and looks amazing... thank you for all your help.
  3. Also, Thank you for the offer, to fix this correctly I've arranged for Dragonbox to ship another LCD part to me. I will post an update when I get it and fit to my Lynx. Thank you so much for helping.
  4. You are correct, so exactly as you predicted. Ribbon was damaged by the battery compartment screw .
  5. Thank you for reply... as Dr McCoy said... hes dead Jim
  6. No static, still white. 5v tests good, sound plays fine. Power wires are not mixed up, using the backlight button the unit cycles through 4 modes as expected - 2x modes are white washed out, then off for x2 presses before back to white.
  7. Help! My McWill Lynx II mod is stuck! I followed all instructions successfully and was able to test successfully! Screen looked great. I then re assembled the Lynx again and tried to power on, all I got was a white screen. So I have double checked and the desoldered and redone all connections, checked voltage etc... I can find no fault but still all I get now is a white screen, if I look at an extrem angle I can just about make an image, buts its totally washed out. Any ideas? LCD is faulty? Please help.
  8. Hi folks. I recently picked up an MZ700 (MZ-721) and have been working to get it back in full working condition. But am stuck.. I can get the machine to boot to the blue monitor prompt but the system is unresponsive to any typed in commands. Typing L or LOAD with CR does nothing and the system jumps to a new line with the flashing cursor immediately again. There is no Play response or waiting state. Trying to display memory or edit M0000 or D0000 does nothing, B nothing, # nothing, etc... All keys work and I can type all keys from the keyboard, so video Ram and charactor ROM seem good, also based on the keyboard I assume the 8255 is good. The cassette unit has power and i can play, ff, rr etc.. But as there is no response to load command, pressing play just spins the tape. So I have totally cleaned the unit, reseating all the socketed ICs (CPU and 2x ROMs) replaced all the electrolyte type capacitors on board, tried swapping the Z80 cpu with another from an Amstrad CPC. I tried checking all 4164s to see if one is hot, no changes, I checked voltages on all to compare, no changes, I then got another 4164 spare and piggy backed it across each 4164 and rebooted, no changes. At this point I am unsure where to go next, from looking at system docs I think it must be either the 8255, a faulty ram or maybe the monitor rom is bad? Does anyone have any test procedures or a troubleshooting guide? Or any any ideas? (Sorry for typos, am using iPad to post)
  9. This is my first post from a long time reader here... I am based in Ireland and have been collecting a few years. I grew up with the Atari VCS, Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum and Amiga... Most of my stuff is local PAL region from Ireland or the UK.
