  1. Hello. I would like to get into Colecovision homebrewing, but I need to know some information first. For starters, I know that the programming can be done using assembly, but I would like to know of any tutorials and download links for it (and also if I need to set it up differently, as I know it can be used for other stuff as well). Secondly, if anyone knows of a good Coleco sprite editor, it would prove to be a great help. Lastly, any other information would be much appreciated.

  2. I know, but you shouldn't have used an apostrophe because it sounds like "Atari and it is auction" which makes no sense. I'm not usually a grammar Nazi but that stuck out like a sore thumb.

I will try and remember in the future.

  3. Just to let you know I am reading all of this. Not a hardware buff, but willing to back up any kickstarter project or other initiative to get to see the light of this. Also willing to invest in a prototype cart if that is helpful. And love to get programming on this.

What I also find very interesting to get to see is a ComLynx to PC cable. I am sure that for people in the know this is a no-brained, but I would love to program the connectivity of a Lynx game to PC, thereby opening up options for internet connectivity and other things. There was a lot of talk on uploading games to the Lynx through ComLunx, but I would really.like to get my hands on the required cable (USB preferred over Serial).

Thank you for you support, but I am still going through college, and sending it though Kickstarter, getting a team together (which will need to happen), adding and implementing stretch goals while trying to get at distinction to go to Uni will be far too difficult.

  4. So the new console generation is just around the corner, and all 4 consoles have been announced. The question is, who will you be backing and why?

Personally I am undecided between the ps4 and the Ouya. The wii u has no games and the Xbox one looks like it's going to go Xtinct.

  5. Well this was a post I didn't think I was going to make. After not being able to find a buyer for it's business, Atari has decided to auction off it's IP's including Test Drive, Roller Coster Tycoon, Total Annihilation and even the Atari brand itself. Now the reason I am making the post is that, although the source I have found mentioned minimum buds for some of it's games, it said nothing about the rights to it's hardware, which I think should be in the hands of Atari age, especially the 2600. I don't think that we should let such a big part of gaming history fall to deters, but how do you think we should save not just the 2600, but all other hardware Atari made as well? (Also, the 1st link is of my evidence, and my 2nd is of some awesome chiptune music, just to lift your spirits)

  6. The thing is though this is measureing the tempreture of the cartridge, not the tempreture outside. This means that outside influence, such as the cartridge overheating, could affect it. Also, while I like the idea of a photocell in the crtridge, I feel it may become a bit to slimier to Boktai

  7. All I can say is that that I have work cut out for me during Easter, both in terms of getting a Lynx and learning the programming language for it. I think I will make a basic game for it first before driving the insane train of hype that this has become. Maybe a 2d platformer or spaceship shooter just to get me warmed up. Com-lynx support possible. Nothing as advanced as this.

Despite this, however, I thought I could share what I want to do with this game idea from a gameplay perspective. I am thinking of a Legend of Zelda/ Final Fantasy type thing where the weather effects enemies, side-quests, etc. Different enemies have different elemental weaknesses and only appear in different weathers, and the same thing goes for side-quests. I am also toying with the idea of it affecting dungeons, but I want the game to be playable in all weathers, and not have parts of it blocked off because it isn't raining, snowing, etc.

Also I went to a game expo a few weeks back, and someone did something with the same concept (of having outside weather affect in game actions) only that game was for smart phones and used both an internet connection to a weather website and the phones internal GPS for the same results. Could this be easier or not?

  8. Once again I would like to thank you all (especially LX.NET for that awesome video of that accelerometer in that Lynx cartridge) but I will probably have to start this in April/March time. Like I said, this was out of curiosity, and I don't even have a Lynx as of yet. Still, I will try to sort this out, as my project for the 2600 is getting more error messages than even other people in the forums know how to deal with.

  9. I am very surprised to get this large of a response for this thread, so I thank everyone who spent the time to post under this topic. It has also been of great help as well, although there are a few things I need clarity on. To start with, LX.NET mentioned something called a shift register, something I know nothing about. I also wish to know what the AUDIN actually does without fancy bells and whistles in the cartridge.

  10. Hello. I was wondering if, for the Lynx, you put external hardware into the game cartridge and still have work. Now, before you ask, I am not talking about a bigger R.O.M or external graphics chip. What I am talking about is something a lot more exotic.

This is a link explaining the game that inspired me, Boktai. For those of you who don't know (which will be all of you) Boktai was a series of games for the Game Boy Advance which had a solar sensor in the cartridge, which was used to charge up your weapon and take down bosses. Now I am not looking to put this in the cartridge, but a Barometer that could sense the weather outside and put it in the game, so for example if it was raining outside it would be raining in the game. Would this be theoretically possible with the programming language used for Atari Lynx's?

  11. This is the exact same version as I have got at home.

You know I have a few plans that might help. 1st up, if anyone wants to work with me on this project whilst I plan it from the sidelines (because none of this is working) then please state your interest here. Failing that information on the actual programming language used for the Atari 2600 will be useful. Many thanks.

  12. I seem to getting quite the collection of error messages. I've set the compiler setting to Batari basic itself come up with an error message saying " could not locate default.bas.bin and could not recompile. Please check to make sure it was compiled correctly."
