  1. Got the ColecoVision not long after it came out. Apparently the local store marked it up way higher than the suggested retail price -- I am quite sure we paid well over $300 for it, which back then was a lot of dough. The one thing I remember was how happy I was that I could now silence my friend who lived down the road, who as an Intellivision owner was always ragging on me about the 2600 graphics. Interestingly, I saw said friend about 1.5 years ago, after many years apart, and one of the first things he mentioned was the days of playing ColecoVision together. Also, my best friend to this day became my great friend as a result of our mutual love of ColecoVision.
  2. Come on, Brian, it's really unethical of you to claim Todd Rogers' score as your own.
  3. Bottom line -- given the variance most gamers demonstrate in skill/scores from game to game, it is extremely hard to believe that Todd could be the top player (particularly by such a wide margin) at essentially any and every VCS game he played.
  4. Wow, HERO is a dynamite title, especially on ColecoVision! So glad I gave it a go...

  5. They are both actually in the "wrong" key, anyway. The original composition is in G Major. The arcade version is in B flat, while the CV version is in C.
  6. Enjoyed the podcast. One thing, though...Given the INTV's dreadful disc controller, you CANNOT spend like 10 minutes complaining about the ColecoVision controller and not even mention the far greater limitations of Mattel's design. I have owned two Intellivisions, both of which I had to put away as unplayable, solely because of the controllers. Thankfully, I now can emulate the 12 or 15 games I really enjoy on this system. The CV controller was not ideal but was nowhere near the debacle of the INTV controller.
  7. Nice, Cyb! Thanks for sharing!
  8. His life situation is precisely why it might be good to release the WIP ROM before the game is complete.
  9. No you couldn't. That's 4.4 football fields.
  10. Great idea. Who would have imagined the 7800 XM module DK would release before Opcode's DKA?!
  11. Adventure Missile Command Yar's Revenge
  12. Daniel, I am very moved by that letter. Thank you for sharing it with us. It's never easy to lose family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
  13. Today's modern higher quality plasmas (Panasonic Viera, etc.) offer a rotating screen-saver and/or a "screen wipe" to avoid burn in. That said, it is a concern. I give my TV breaks if I'm playing something that has a persistent image (example, Frogger home bases). If you're happy with the CRT, stick with it. I had to move and wasn't hauling that beast 1500 miles with me.
  14. I've had some problems with LCD and possibly LED but nothing substantial on Plasma, likely because that technology is closer to CRT than the others.
  15. Tomb Raider -- still a great game, still a lousy film.

  16. Solving Raiders of the Lost Ark in a dream, and then seeing it actually work in real life -- crazy. Being able to play Missile Command, Yar's Revenge, and Frogger to world-record-level scores with regularity. Watching my dad, who never played a video game, achieve world-record-level scores in Circus with regularity. He was also a mean Duck Hunt player.
  17. I don't know about any changes, but I would surmise the name was changed because the original title was horrible.
  18. I don't blame you for being upset; I am surprised at the tame reaction by some here. If your work was ripped off, and it certainly looks that way, then that is totally messed up.
  19. How did you know? I pretty much ruined my pinky toe a few months ago doing that!
