Well it lives once more. After paying the extortion charge to U.K. customs and the hefty shiping from the U.S. it turned out to be the CPU chip I think it is. The one marked C010745 anyway. Fortunately my chips were socketed so after replacing them all and then individually replacing my old ones this was the one that turned out to be defective. A quick tweak of the colour screw and away she went. Many thanks to the guys at Best Electronics for supplying the necessary parts, although I do wish there was somewhere in the U.K. that I could get them from as my total amount spent was about $133.00 after all the charges Still at least I've got a couple of spare chips in case anything else goes Cheers Chris.

Hi yllawwally, Thanks for the answer. I don't get anything at all as the games don't start up. The only sound is sometimes a buzzing, screeching noise as soon as it's turned on even with a cartrige inserted. I ordered some new chips from Best to see if it's one of them and will fit them when they arrive. Unfortunately U.K. Customs have impounded the ordered parts and require a further $35.00 to release them Thanks Chris

Thanks for the reply Fernando. I checked the 7805 Voltage Regulator and it's taking in 12v and putting out 5.05V Is it likely to be anything else ?

Hi Guys, Great Forum. I've got a newbie question that I'm hoping some of you may be able to answer. I dug my old 6 switch woody out the attic the other night and after spending a good while I managed to get it working on my modern T.V. Unfortunately after playing it for about 1hr, in the middle of a game of Missile Command, the screen just went blank or black and now it won't do anything other than show a blank black screen no matter what game cartridge I put in. All that it displays now is the blank black screen, although I did see when putting Asteroids in I think the 1981 title screen comes up but it looks like some of the pixels are missing and that is as far as it gets. Anyone any idea as to what has died in it ?? I've checked the voltage regulator and it seems fine, I've also cleaned the slot and cartridges but still no joy. Lastly I'm in the U.K. and wondered if there is anywhere here that I can purchase new chips like the TIA and the RIOT etc in case this is what is wrong as I contacted Best Electrics but unfortunately due to problems he can only ship to here at a cost of $30.00 shipping plus the price of the parts. Thanks in advance for your time in helping. Chris.
