  1. thanks for the part number, it gives me a place to start for a working power supply

i looked on ebay at http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Very-Handy-3-voltage-Poject-Power-Supply-Mains-input-with-12v-5v-3-3v-Output-/322479449518?hash=item4b1545e5ae:g:casAAOSwknJXyuj7 but this seems to be a variant of cfm40t, this is CFM40T-07 which doesnt have the -5 volts which isnt a major issue i suppose, it is the only one that appear after putting in cfm40t.

it looks a bit big for what is needed

the -5v is for the vram if you use a f18a or had the vram mod you don need it... you can find the cfm40t here http://ca.mouser.com/Search/m_ProductDetail.aspx?Cincon/CFM40T-01/&qs=a9HUcNGsM2BO67El0yNmhQ==

  2. great news and great work... cause its pretty simple when you have the hardware to update the f18a with the jtag but if you dont have anything it cost more than a new f18a... i had to do it fast for a project but for cv player there is no rush to update the f18a

i have spare unit if you want me to test your software let me know

  3. And... ? Did your update go ok?

yes perfectly great tutorial... the hardest part was to find the right cable 2x7 2mm to suite my programmer

the hs3 cable you show us is really nice but they ask 72$ US to ship to me. i did'nt find a supplier in canada for the hs3 cable... probably the hs2 could work too...?

  4. Since there has been talk about replacement motherboards and new consoles I am going to put out my idea for a replacement.

This idea is based my opinion that once you no longer use the old original chips it is no longer a real ColecoVision and as such I would recommend the following as a solution.

Make an add on board to connect with the Raspberry Pi. This add-on board would have a cartridge slot with whatever additional electronics required.

The Pi along with add-on board would read carts and run a ColecoVision emulator. You already have HDMI output with the Pi....if you want to get extra fancy add another board for digital to analog conversion so you can have composite, or s-video, component or RGB

If you want to go all out, make a cute little case to house it in.

You now have your modular new ColecoVision.

If you don't care about the cartridge slot load roms on an SD card and stick it in your $35 Pi. There are many cases available that house the Pi, so with no add-on board(s) you don't even need a custom case.

the add on for cart just use the atarimax flash programmer ... coolcv could load the game from it

  5. Matt and I have been talking about porting the updater to the Coleco... if there's actually demand I can bump up the priority on my list... you'd need a megacart to load it. (Or anyone else is welcome to, it will still take me a while).

could it be done via the atarimax... i need to update my f18a for beta test game... so people who have a f18a for 2 or 3 years will have to update theire f18a... i know matt offer to update for 1$ but for me its like 15$ to ship x2 + custom fee of 20$ each time matt ship to me in canada.

i can buy a new unit for almost the same price..

if someone have a new f18a with the 1.8 firmware and ready to sell it now let me know...

  6. I'd be willing to remove the pcb from the cart so that I can test it when it is inserted further into the slot, if I could get a replacement label.

Do the labels come off easily?

if you heat the lable with a heat gun you should be able to remove it with out breaking it... and since you are a well known member here i dont see why opcode wont send you another lable or a replacement cart... sur you should ask them first..

  7. Interesting...I have not tested my carts extensively, but when I first plugged them in, the connector on the PCB seemed a little short to me. I will give both an extensive play tomorrow on both my CV and ADAM. I had no problems with either when I originally tried them, but did not play either for very long.

this is exactly the feeling i had when i first insert the cart in my cv is missing a liitle something
