last min attempt paid off, but still got "Eliminated"
Same for me... the Eliminator eliminated me

I'd say you both deserve a customized ROM…
I agree with Carl, both Liduario and Wispfollower deserve the top prize (and perhaps an extra pencil and patch
. They have given us a magical King of Kong moment and both their names deserve to be remembered in the annals of history and their feats will be sung by bards in generations to come!Way to go!

What is this, Steve Wiebe versus Billy Mitchell?
So who is Mitchell and who is Wiebe?

-

It's Carol Vs the World all over again. Congrats Wisp for the fantastic score!
Perhaps Liduario still has a card under his sleeve...

Great Rev... Thank you very much! I hope that the moving went smoothly. Cheers!
-
Seems I was kicked out.

Oh well.
Oh... I am so sorry. You were working so hard on this one and you got as well some great scores

Perhaps there will be a redemption redemption island.

Hey Janzl,
Don't forget to post a link to your forum entry in Rev's website (Intellivision Revolution). IR is hosting the competition.
It is my understanding that Rev will be updating the final scores tonight! Cheers, O

Hey Janzl,
22000 points on your first attempt! That is a pretty decent score. Congratulations and just in time!
-
All great scores Jason! I guess I have to give it one last push

INTVDude did post before Sunday noon - on the main thread... score has been moved over, eliminating his competitors. The Dude remains on Redemption Island, awaiting Darrin9999.
I am a little bit confused, who was redeemed and who stays in limbo? Dude or DZ?

Its for a widowed chess cart. A widow cartridge is a game that came in a box and is now loose.
MMM... a box for a widowed chess cart. Who is the girl on the cover? The black widow?

Thanks for the heads up GroovyBee. It may be a little bit too late for me to organise a trip to France at this moment but nevertheless I would appreciate if you could pm me some of the basic info about the event. Thanks again and I will see you around! Cheers.

Really cool. Thanks for the Info.
-
LOL! And the escape from Redemption Island is getting more entertaining than an episode of Lost.

Thanks for the info Voltron!

Congratulations to cParsley, Jacob and Intvdude for the awesome scores!

Actually Liduario, Karima has not saved Pauline yet. As I mentioned before she has been developing her own techniques. She plays with Bruno and loves to pick up the hammer and unleash the fury of the gods. She discovered that she can collect many points in stage number 3 (Classic DK stage 1) by picking up the hammer and chasing after the barrels (BTW Bruno can climb the stairs with the hammer). She collects as many points as she can by smashing and jumping barrels, often dying in the process because it gets tough. Then if time runs out, she retries the stage. Finally, with her last lives she tries to advance as much as she can.
Instead of getting the clock bonus, she gets the barrel smashing bonuses. A little bit unorthodox but fun and thinking out of the box. Not bad for someone who is relatively new to INTV and pre-NES gaming…
Karima has already been much further than stage 3, but she finds it difficult to increase her score considerably in the other stages (except perhaps in the stage where you save Pauline). The game is very challenging from the start and she is simply finding her own way of having fun with it (while getting a decent score). Of course, with this technique you will never get to the levels of Carl Jr. Jr. or Liduario unless you are an excellent player and you can finish the rest of the game with one life.
I think that Karima has discovered that the maximum points for a D2K round could be way more than 25k. Just as Liduario, I used to think that every round would bring only 25k maximum. It would be interesting to know what the maximum to get in the first round is. We need cParsley to write his thesis about D2K

Couldn't have said it any better. Great post. I've watched with astonishment at the scores you and Liduario have been putting up, great to hear you're finding time to play. My best wishes that the variant bug does not find you.
(Unless you want it to...)I am keeping my immune system up by playing! Living in Belgium also helps as there is not too much variant temptation as in the US. BTW you have a beautiful collection. I loved your Tron pics.

Hello guys,
I am celebrating my 100th post in AA. I arrived here a couple of months ago invited by dZ-Jay and Liduario to join in the fun of the Carol vs World competition. Suffice to say I really enjoyed the camaraderie of the forum tread and the excitement surrounding the competition. This was my first participation in a forum and I thought that after the competition the interest would wane and I would stop following "Intellivision Age" in AA.
I was so wrong! I am still here and I have been enjoying every single moment of it. In particular, I have been drawn to the HSC. However, I have been exploring other main INTV treads. I have learned a lot and I am very thankful with all of you (even if I still don't quite understand some of the inner jokes and in-between-the-lines comments of some of the members of the 'hood).
Some of the things that I have learned by hanging out here:
+ I learned that collecting variants is like a highly contagious virus, even if you say that you are immune to it suddenly you may sneeze.
+ I learned (with the kind help of some kind forum members) how to set up an Intellivision emulator.
+ I have been in contact with programmers of high caliber INTV games (e.g. Carl M. or DZ) and I have discovered that they are extremely kind and down to earth.
+ I have enjoyed some of Intvdude's videos…

… and a big etc. This site is so cool so I plan on being here for a while. So to celebrate my 100th posting I'm adopting a new profile image inspired by my favourite INTV game (thanks Janzl) and, a little bit belatedly, let me introduce myself.
I have been an INTV fan since the early 80's and I was lucky enough to have played almost all the pre-crash games in my native Mexico. I traded all my Intellivision collection for a recently-released NES and games (multi-console gaming was a dream in the 80s, specially in an economical struggling country like mine). Although I thoroughly enjoyed the later generation consoles, the INTV was the console closest to my heart.
Fast forward, 20 years later and having started a new life on the other side of the Atlantic (a.k.a. PAL-landia), I made my first trip to London, UK and saw a huge INTV lot in a charity stop and the rest is history. I have been collecting ever since. I discovered the post-1983 masterpieces and I almost have a full set. However, I hadn't thoroughly played since my childhood until Carol, D2K and the HSC. Playing again has been a therapeutic experience as it has helped me to forget about the niggles of collecting and focus on what is more important: simply enjoy the fantastic games. One word of advice, no matter where you are in the XX/125 quest or variants… don't forget to play!
A big thank you to all of you and cheers.

Yes, do explain. On a side note, I'm thinking about setting aside extras to make a Tron sub-collection of Intellivision items, or maybe just displaying them together for a while

I would include Tron Deadly Discs, Tron Maze-a-Tron, Snafu, Adventures of Tron, and my Tron Catalog. Any other ideas or anything I'm missing?
What about VecTRON? Moreover, the game takes place inside a computer... I guess.
BTW I'm also a big fan of Tron. My fave being Deadly Discs (BTW Deadly Dogs perhaps should also be included in Tron Complete). Cheers!

I would like to thank Carl for creating such a fantastic game! Both Karima and I have thoroughly enjoyed the game and the competition. My gratitude goes also to Rev for organizing the contest. After the D2K and the Carol experience there is no doubt that the Intellivision is more alive than ever. Thanks to all the people that made this forum tread so fun; specially to Liduario and Carl for the hints and videos. (Carl, I will be sending you a PM/email with some of my impressions from the D2K experience). Thanks again and good luck to all! Cheers, OK
