  1. After reading your previous post I feel compelled to also add my two cents. Actually, I think that Jacob's work with the HSC has been great. The competition is well organised and above all is both fair AND fun. I understand your perspective of competitor. However, it seems to me that Jacob's decisions are made for making the competition more fun and not for personal profit or for attacking the leader, as you suggested by comparing him to CParsley. This comparison is inadequate to my mind. You should bear in mind that the “C” of HSC stands for "Club" and not “Competition”. This is a big difference as a high score club should be inclusive and inviting. We have to be thankful that somebody is taking the administrative load of organising the competition within the club. For me the tournament is supposed to be fun and a personal challenge. My goal is not to win, but to participate and try to do my best in the limited amount of time I have to play. In my eyes, if your suggestions would be followed, we would have only 2 or 3 people competing at the end. It is nice and fun to have a surprise and open up the competition. I agree with you that any game of the competition should not be worth 2 or 3 times more than any other or that deadlines are changed. However, I think HSC should be more a "Mario Kart" than "Twin Galaxies” type of tournament. Everyone should have the chance to shine and to dream that they can win. We can also take part in the extra challenges as well and I am pretty sure that you will (as usual) shine No-one doubts that you are one of the best Intellivision players on this side of the galaxy!!! In terms of the Stampede game, the Activision patch challenge seems to be a good idea as at the time people were all striving to get one of those. Moreover this challenge pushes us all to make a bit of an extra effort, to go beyond our limits. Have a great day!
  2. Latest (2nd) submission for this great conversion. In my opinion, the best Pac-Man conversion at the time. Oscar G. - 99,200
  3. A slight improvement from my previous score: Oscar G. - 1,496,250 points (disc/hardest setting)
  4. I improved my previous score by 1 million points! Hooray! Oscar G. 1,480,950 points (disc/hard setting)
  5. Compared with the original Atari Pac Man, the Intellivision version shines... Tough game though...
  6. Welcome. Glad to hear that you are trying out the INTV. The INTV has some pretty cool games to discover and the HSC is a great way to get to know them. Good luck and read you around!
  7. Hello guys, This is my first submission for this awesome game: Oscar G. 470,050 points Cheers!
  8. Great score! Wow! I agree, the Shark killing skills do not go away after all these years
  9. Oscar G. (3rd submission) Score: 100,950 points Finally broke the 100K barrier!
  10. I am wondering what is the new game in the competition. Cheers. O
  11. Amazing score Ignorama! ... Now you need around 200 extra lives at 90K to try to beat the record Indeed the game is extremely difficult after 90K and my fish die like flies
  12. Completely agree! We have to become very humble and perseverant after the 90K. Thanks for the tips. By the way, great Mission X score Ignorama! Congratulations my friend!
  13. One of the advantages of the HSC is that we do not share scores but also strategies. There are great players here like Lid or Ignorama that are also very kind and give tips. So far I recommend you to perfect your shark-tail bitting technique. It is a matter of timing, get the tempo right (the tempo gets faster as your score advances). Killing the Shark gives you not only big points but extra lives. Accumulate these extra lives for later stages. By the way, use the Dart option (press number buttons) to escape from tight spots and avoid being cornered at the edge of the screen. Cheers. O
  14. Well done! Amazing improvement! I agree, the game gets extremely though at around the 90k. I arrived to this score with more than 20 lives and lost them all in a sigh... I guess we need to change our strategy as the shark's tail is almost impossible to eat. Any ideas? Liduario's score of more than 100K is incredible! Super! Do you have any tips Lid?
  15. Oscar G. (2nd submission) Score: 94,200 points Improved my personal best by 10K
  16. Very interesting. I do think that there are plenty of Intellivision games that have been extremely influential to developers and unfortunately do not get the credit that they deserve. Thank you for sharing. Cheers!
  17. Oscar G. (1st submission) Score: 84,300 points Shark Shark! is one of the few games where the Game Over screen makes me feel extremely happy... that Game Over tune is awesome!
  18. Oscar G. (2nd submission) Score: 109,350 points Hits: 399
  19. No, actually to shut the music off in Carnival you simply need to shoot at the music note box on the far right of the screen. You need to use a bullet for this purpose... ... Actually, you could accidentally shoot at the box again and then you will have wasted 3 precious bullets if you want to turn the music off a second time
  20. Cool. The ideas displayed in this thread make total sense to me. Thank you for organising the HSC again. I can only stress the importance of fairness and respect of the rules and dates. Cheers.
  21. I voted for Carnival. I know I am in a minority here but I find it a very cool shooter with excellent bonus features... Moreover one only needs one bullet to turn off the music..
