  1. This looks like a nice Tool.. I will look into it... MarkO
  2. I don't have a problem with it.. This is All Relevant to me..... MarkO
  3. The Color Computer EDTASM+ Editor Assembler with ZBUG Radio Shack Tandy 26-3250 coco was re-listed as an auction, and I won it.. Hope to see it this week, and try it out with my new to me, Tandy CoCo Radio Shack TRS-80 Color Computer Assembly Language Programing book MarkO
  4. The book, Commodore:A company on the edge, has a very good description of the PET in Europe, and why it was more successful than in the USA.
  5. What Keatah means is that the Hard Core Apple Enthusiasts are looking for and collecting Original Hardware, where the Serial Numbers all "Match Up". Apple Computer was notorious for "repairing computers", under warranty, by swapping your Computers Motherboard with a Fixed one.. I am sure that is why the Apple ][+ I own, has a Rev-01 Motherboard, while the Apple ][ I own with the Rev-03 Motherboard that appears to be ALL Original with Case Serial Number and Power Supply Serial Number.. There are Apple Collectors that bought Apple I reproduction Boards, ( e.g. Mimeo 1 ), and then spent Months and Months to get Ceramic 6502's and 4K RAM and TTL Logic with Manufacture Dates in 1976.. And Yes, there is a large amount of Brand New Hardware, like the CFFA 3000, the Uthernet , and more than one Mockingboard Copy. I haven't found much Low Level stuff on the Apple ][ either... Here are a couple that were interesting, from Rich12345: Have an Apple Split, by Bob Bishop [softalk, October 1982] Memory switch Softswitches Apple II peripheral slot pinout Video timing SPLIT for Prodos and MTOS The Apple ][ is very Bare Metal, verses the C64/C128, or Atari 400/800/1200 or CoCo. There is definitely a bigger challenge to make decent "graphic" games. As a "new owner" of a CoCo 3, I can see it has a whole lot going on for it... I can see the Capabilities of the CoCo (especially the CoCo 3, that can be upgraded to the Hitachi 6309 ), combined with new hardware, like the Drive Pack and Cloud 9 hardware. Former Grade Schoolers that used the Apple ][... Creating something like Lawless Legends. Maybe their Open Source Development Platform will create some additional interest.. The trend with the Apple ][ crowd seems to be New Hardware, like the CFFA 3000, to run their Old Games and Applications. ( It kind of looks like the CoCo crowd is the same way.. ), where as the C64/C128 and Atari 400/800/1200 crowd has some Hardware ( Cables to transfer Disk Images from Windows/Mac/Linux to your original Hardware ) and try "New Demos" and some new games.. It's kind of the difference between Reliving the Past, and seeing what new can be done on Old Hardware... I guess it reflects the Personalities of the People that chose a given Computer Platform..
  6. And still would have been Backward Compatible with the CoCo 1, 2 & 3.. Thus Not Breaking the Cardinal Rule..
  7. Here are some Links: Hitachi 6309 THE 6309 BOOK A MEMO ON THE SECRET FEATURES OF 6309 MarkO
  8. And the 6309 has Two additional 8 Bit Registers that can be Combined to make One Additional 16 Bit Register, that can be Combined with the Original A and B, or D to make a 32 Bit Register.. And still can be Backward Compatible with the 6809!!! That is so very, Way Cool!!!
  9. Apple Broke the Cardinal Rule of Computing... Making a NEW Computer with limited, Backward Compatibility to the ones you made previously.. Your Customers have no easy way to get from Where They Are, to Where you Want Them to Be.. First Off, It was developed by Committee, a Marketing Committee!! ( See the Apple /// Project at the Apple 2 History web site ) Apple Computer was not the Only Ones to make this mistake.. Just how many Intel IA-64 Servers are out there, verses AMD's x86-64?? According to Wikipedia, the IA-64, is in Fourth Place, because "In 2003, AMD released the Opteron, which implemented its own 64-bit architecture (x86-64). Opteron gained rapid acceptance in the enterprise server space because it provided an easy upgrade from x86. Intel responded by implementing x86-64 in its Xeon microprocessors in 2004." ( Direct Quote from Wikipedia ) There are other examples, none come to my mind, at the moment... Bottom Line, "No-brainer Upgrades", are just about guaranteed to win...
  10. That is good to know. The CoCo 3 is backward compatible, so this CoCo 1 Cartage will work fine on it?? Did they Patch the ROM, and you then Burn a new version??? I found this book: Color Computer Assembly Language Programming (1983) (William Barden Jr) and then Won the Auction: Tandy CoCo Radio Shack TRS-80 Color Computer Assembly Language Programming book EDTASM+ seems to be the Assembler of Choice. Thanks for the Input. MarkO
  11. I have noticed on eBay, this Auction: Color Computer EDTASM+ Editor Assembler with ZBUG Radio Shack Tandy 26-3250 coco Would this be something "worthwhile" to purchase for the CoCo 3?? Are there any better recommendations for an Assembler Development Systems for the CoCo 3?? At this point, I have a CoCo 3 with 128K, and no Tape or Disk Interface. I am getting the DriveWire System setup on my computer, so I can work with Virtual Disk Images. The CoCo 3 is New in Box, and I am the Second Owner, the First Owner never plugged it in.. Neither have I, so I probably should.. MarkO
  12. Available to watch Episode 01, I/O at AMC until 01-JUN-2014.
  13. It might be in here: Asimov Apple ][ Site, BASIC Documentation and Asimov Apple ][ Site, BASIC Disk Images Someone else might know more about a Structured BASIC for the Apple ][. MarkO
  14. Hello there!! I live up the Willamette from you... I recently have seen a bunch of references to Atari BBS's in Portland, OR, and I just saw this tonight, in Tandy's Little Wonder The Color Computer 1979-1991, Second Edition, on Page 16, in the Second Column, "Radio station KGON, it was reported, had its own bulletin board running on a CoCo." Do you still have any Atari's?? I have Apple ]['s, Commodore's, Sinclair's ( ZX81 and TS1000 ) , and now a CoCo 3. MarkO
  15. No, my SX-64 and Apple ]['s don't TCP/IP, yet.. I read your thread, Getting your CLASSIC COMPUTER on the Internet BBS's and I am thinking of getting a Lantronic Unit..
  16. In 1984, my Town was too small to have any BBS's, but the Next Town over, ( Salem, OR ) had Five or Six C64 BBS's ( at 300 Baud ) and a NorthStar Advantage running CP/M and a 1200 BPS Modem.. I called all of them with my Apple ][e.... I bought my Commodore SX-64 from one of the C64 BBS operators.. I have the Commodore RS-232 interface, so I could connect my Modem to the SX64 too.. Since it was a U.S. Robotics Password Modem.. I don't think I ever called an Atari BBS or TI99/4A BBS.. Nobody in my area ran them.. MarkO
  17. My High School had Four Apple ][ + computers with 48K and the ROM Card with Integer BASIC on it. Three of them were in the Business Classroom, whom the teacher was a friend of my dad's, so I was able to "Borrow" all the Apple Manuals and the Epson MX-80 Manual... You sure learn a lot by reading the Fine Manuals...
  18. Two reasons come to mind... The TI has a 16 Bit Chip, which should have kicked the Living Daylights out of any 8 Bit chip computer, but the BASIC was much s l o w e r than most other home PC's of the era, and then IIRC, the Technical Details were hard to obtain for programming it, unlike the VIC-20, C64 and even the Apple ][. MarkO
  19. And I am glad they still do make excellent keyboards.. I am typing this message on a Type M Clicky Keyboard, ID#:7295304, Date:08JUN92
  20. I own a Lenovo G550.. From what I learned previously, when IBM started having their PC built in China, Lenovo was the Contract Manufacture ( CM ). When the decided to leave the PC Market, they just Sold it ALL to Lenovo.. Which continues to build Think-Pads and their own designs..
  21. I would guess that PCWorld doesn't like Direct Linking to the 3rd Page.. MarkO
  22. Yea... Whatever pays the Bills.... Apple adapted to other Consumer Commodities, IBM adapted to a Service Commodity...
  23. I remember having a discussion with my Uncle about the C64 ( his computer choice ) and the Apple ][e ( my computer choice ), and the intelligent C64 Disk System, verses the dumb Apple ][e Disk system. I am sorry, but the on-board 6502 of the 1541 doesn't beat loading programs on the Apple ][e.. Even with an Epyx FastLoad cartridge.. Then add ProntoDOS to the Apple ][e and Look Out!! I bought a SX-64 too, but do you think my Uncle would by an Apple ][... Ha!!!!
  24. And strangely enough, Apple is still in the Personal Computer Market, and IBM isn't...
