My Gameshark, version 3.2, had the number 8 on the display, the TV screen was green and it would not start. I opened the cartridge and noticed that several pins on the upper connector, that were supposed to be soldered down to the board, were actually dangling in the air! I touched up all of them with a soldering iron and the unit started working again. Good luck!
