  1. I used to have a Star NX-1000. It was a color dot matrix printer. This one doesn't say color on the box. I'm guessing this one is a non-color model, as it doesn't appear to mention it on the box. The fonts were nice for a dot-matrix. I remember getting compliments in college when I'd turn in a paper that I printed with it.
  2. Looks like a nice collection, but I can't quite make out what your cartridges are.
  3. I really enjoy following the additions to this collection. Your collection is amazing. I have one question, though: Where do you keep all of this? I'm about to have to start making some hard choices on my boxed games, as I'm running out of shelf space.
  4. Please PM me if you have a copy you are willing to part with. Thanks
  5. I might make it to the DFW area in the near future. What kind of video games do you have?
  6. Since US Customs tape was inside the package as well as outside (the item was double-boxed), I don't see any reason to think it isn't them.
  7. A package arrived from Venezuela today. It was a sealed mint copy of Xenophobe. It appears U.S. Customs opened it. (There is green CBP tape on the package.) Luckily, they didn't destroy it, but they opened the shrinkwrap and tore the box a little. The lid is also a little bent. Overall, though, I consider myself lucky that it arrived otherwise intact.
  8. I actually did call them earlier today, but they won't do anything because it is past 45 days. They recommended I submit the case to ic3.gov (Internet Crime Compaint Center) and fraud.org.
  9. Hi folks, I've been struggling to resolve a problem with a seller on ebay, retrogamingdepot, for several months now. The gist of the situation is I purchased a game (Raft Rider) from him in November, and I still have not received it. The seller admitted he never sent it, but never took action to resolve it. I thought that this was a case of the seller simply not knowing how to handle shipping a package, as he admitted he made a mistake, and seemed like he was trying to resolve it. But given the fact that the seller never acted on his promises to resolve the situation, and the fact that he stopped responding to my messages at a point where enough time had elapsed that I could no longer leave feedback or open a case on the transaction, I somewhat suspect he was just stalling for time. I will post the relevant parts of my exchanges to him, and you can make up your own mind about the intent.. But the key thing here is that the seller took my money, never shipped, and is no longer responding to my messages. The thread starts here (November 28th, 2012): ---- Sent Date: Nov-27-12 23:09:40 PST Dear retrogamingdepot, Sorry for not reporting this sooner, but I just got around to opening this box. I am very happy with everything, except the Raft Rider cartridge was not in the box with the other games. Can you check to see if you forgot to include it? Thanks --- From: retrogamingdepot Sent: Nov-28-12 06:42 AM I apologoze for this. I will check on that and make sure. Will send it out ASAP. Lloyd - retrogamingdepot --- From: retrogamingdepot Sent: Nov-30-12 09:01 AM Hi, I double checked this and it looks like I did in fact not send it. I just need to figure out how to print another shipping label and get that out to you. I apologize for this. Lloyd - retrogamingdepot --- Sent Date: Dec-14-12 06:27:06 PST Hi Lloyd, Did you ever send this? I don't think I've seen it, yet. --- From: retrogamingdepot Sent: Dec-14-12 09:31 AM Oh! I am so sorry. No. I will get this out. I was swamped w/ Atari games. My mistake. On it's way. Lloyd - retrogamingdepot --- Sent Date: Dec-14-12 11:02:17 PST Dear retrogamingdepot, Understood. I am also swamped with Atari games. I've spent a few thousand on Atari stuff over the last couple of months, and they're stacked up all over my house. I'm trying to fill the gaps in my Atari collection, and replacing my rough condition games with better condition ones. Doing so has involved buying lots of large lots of games and sorting out what I need from what I don't need and selling the rest.. It is messy work!! I appreciate honest sellers like you. It has been shocking how many sellers I have been dealing with have blatantly misrepresented what they were selling, or who shipped me packages full of cob-webs and insects (dead and live). I also sell on eBay, and I can't imagine what these people are thinking when they send out a package full of filth. So I totally know what you are dealing with on the difficulty keeping it all organized, but I would appreciate it if you could send me confirmation that you've shipped the missing game. Tracking information would be extra helpful. Thank you! --- From: retrogamingdepot Sent: Dec-22-12 12:16 PM Hi, I am having a hard time figuring out how to print a new shipping label for this. And Ebay is no help to me at all. I have it ready to go. Would it be okay if I send this out next week by going to the post office and doing it that way. For some reason when i try ti print a label it says I have printed the max avail and I have talked to Ebay/Paypal twice about this. Another one that I had to send was real easy to do. Another option and I am not sure if you would want to do would be to paypal me $1 for an item w/ proper shipping and I will refund $2 back (I promise.). That way I will be able to ship this easily w/ a label. This post office in NYC right now is just insane. The last time I was there for an international I order I wanted over an hour in line. I feel so bad about this but Ebay's system to print another label is not working right for this one. Says I have to void a label before I print another, but I can't void a label that has already been shipped. That makes no sense. Lloyd - retrogamingdepot --- Sent: Dec-22-12 03:27 PM Dear retrogamingdepot, You can print a label from the USPS web site. I used that site regularly, until I switched to stamps.com. --- Subject: jxu82 has sent a message Sent Date: Jan-30-13 15:36:51 PST Dear retrogamingdepot, Since it doesn't appear that you're going to send me the cartridge, can I at least get a refund? --- From: retrogamingdepot Sent: Feb-01-13 12:58 PM I know I had issues printing another label and for the life of me I can't find it. I will go in Paypal and find the transaction and issue a refund. Lloyd ---- Note that the refund was never sent, and the several messages I have sent since 2/1/13 have been ignored. If I ever manage to get resolution on this, I will update this message.
  10. Awesome. That helps quite a bit! Thank you.
  11. Its a steal for $50. The console (if it is working) is worth about $30. The boxes on those games are worth at least $5 each (some worth $10 or more). The manuals are worth about $1 each. Basic Programming complete in the box is worth about $30 by itself. If you can get this shipped to you for $120 or less, you're still getting a good deal.
  12. Legendary stuff.. I literally dream of such things. I'm jealous!
  13. Good idea on the sample. I will try to talk them into it.
  14. Given the higher number of scan lines on a PAL display, I would guess the TIAs would have to be different.
  15. Well, if speaking that broadly, Lead in the AtariAge store has waves kinda like that. I didn't read that as what the OP was asking for, though. > object is to go as far as you can without hitting any walls or obstacles > I would prefer the parabolic "press button to go up, release to go down" controls
  16. Red label as in big-fat-Atari mid-eighties cartridge (which will fit a Junior, but won't fit a sixer).
  17. This is interesting from a "game theory" perspective. Assuming one wants to acquire a large quantity of shrinkwrapped games from a single seller in Venezuela, but an unknowable X% of packages will be destroyed by CBP, which is the winning strategy: A. Put in one huge order for the year, betting on that one package making it through ok (but risking that the entire shipment will be destroyed). B. Order one game at a time, spread out over a year, accepting that a certain percentage of the games will be destroyed, but that most will arrive safely. Which is the best move??
  18. I got mine this week. Need to bring it to work to show my Xbox 360 playing co-workers. Their minds will be blown.
  19. Anyone know how these tapes would have held up in to sitting in a hot environment for a long period? I've got a source for a few dozen shrinkwrapped Starpath games, but they've been sitting in a hot warehouse since the 80s. My VHS tapes that were kept in a non-A/C storage unit for the summer didn't come out so good.
  20. Anywhere with more previews of the content than the linked site? (Amazon doesn't seem to have it.)
  21. I would love to see a text file where someone who understands this stuff comments the code to explain how interesting routines (and hacks) are done in disassembled famous games. This would be an extremely valuable resource for programmers to learn from.
  22. I believe the AtariVox will be re-released soon, and will have this functionality. I am looking forward to getting one, myself.
  23. I would go for a game that was Galaxian-style plus the ship capture, challenging stage, and enemy entry phase. Those are the key elements to me. Anything without those shouldn't be called Galaga.
  24. Are you playing these on an NTSC or PAL system?
