  1. I agree with Atarian7. Try cleaning the contacts with alcohol, if you haven't tried that yet, before you get rid of them. About 20% of the loose carts I get are non-functional until I do this. If that doesn't work, Marc Oberhäuser may be interested in the case for Turmoil.
  2. I have a few dark brown tri-fold ones. I will check them later to see if the interior is similar to these.
  3. My luck has been good the last few times. I just did a big order recently, and I'm waiting for that to arrive.
  4. It doesn't look that bad to me. You must be even more of a perfectionist on this kind of thing than I am.
  5. This looks very different than the Toys R Us setups I remember in Texas at that time. Pretty much everything was inside or above a giant, long glass cabinet, until the crash. For a year or two after the crash, my local one put all of the Vectrex stuff out on shelves (with the games marked down to $4-$8, and the Vectrex itself priced around $80.. but I was about 15 and couldn't afford any of it).
  6. I played alot of Star Raiders on the 2600 as a kid. I can't see myself doing much of that these days, but I do intend to get into Starmaster again.
  7. I mean you can have it, free. I'd just ask that you pay the shipping (which would probably be $10 or less). It is a 4-switch woody. Console only, no power supply or accessories.
  8. I could give you a replacement. I have a spare console that was broken that I gave to a friend with two others. He canibalized one of the three broken consoles to fix the other two, and gave one of them back to me. I don't have a power supply for it, but it sounds like you have a working one already anyway.
  9. I have never seen or heard of this issue, and I have had many different 2600 consoles. My best guess is that there is some kind of damage to the TIA chip, but I am not that knowledgable on hardware.
  10. I'll be interested to hear if cleaning solves this problem.
  11. Same here. If the case is really dirty, I remove it, spray it with a water hose outside, then bring it inside and wash it with dish soap in the sink. I let it dry outside. The case will often look brand new after I do this.
  12. I have no special insight. I can only tell you my experience. The first time I saw/heard of one was at a Goodwill around 1992. I spotted this strange looking machine with candy-like buttons, and picked it up for $10 (with light gun, keyboard, power supply, and Bug Hunt). I was familiar with the Atari 8-bit line of computers, and all of the other Atari consoles, but had never seen or heard of this thing.
  13. The ones made for the Atari 2600 were designed to fit Atari-produced cartridges. Third party cartridges do not fit in them properly. Some will fit, but will fall out. Others will not fit at all. The only third-party carts that I've noticed can fit into them decently are Avalon Hill releases.
  14. Thanks. I have bought and rebought lots of large lots to continuously "upgrade" the condition on the Activision carts, then store them in a way to try to preserve their condition (but I still play them, of course).
  15. Very cool indeed. For those who don't want to scroll through the entire page, here's my favorite photo of the finished product:
  16. I agree that is a great item to have in a 5200 collection. I'm also glad to hear that despite your initial disappointment, overall you're happy enough with your purchase to want to keep it.
  17. Do you want to clean the case as well, or just the electronics?
  18. I'm absolutely sure you won't have a problem finding someone who would be willing to buy it from you for what you paid, bugs and all.
  19. Thanks. I knew about Injured Engine, but not those others. I will have to look into them. I have a few other gaps. Truckin' and Fathom for Intellivision are the main ones I am still after, but a silver box for Subterranea is top of my list. I recently became aware that Imagic also published games on several other platforms, like the Apple II, Coco, MSX, and ZX Spectrum, but I'm not currently planning to go for those. One version of Demon Attack I would like to add to my collection is the Videopac+ version: I just recently got a working Phillips G7400 setup, so there are a number of Videopac+ titles I am going to be looking for.
  20. Something that stands out to me, after taking all of these pictures, is now many different trays there are. On Fire Fighter, it is a cardboard tray with a slot to store the manual in. Fathom has a white plastic tray. Several of the black plastic trays for the 2600 releases are different than each other.
  21. White Water: Wing War (not a reproduction).. It took me a long time to find this one (thanks atari181!):
  22. Subterranea.. 2 label variations and a manual (I still need a box).. This is my favorite Imagic game: Swords and Serpents: Trick Shot: Tropical Trouble:
