I went with GoldLeader's suggestion, so now if you visit the Share a Pic thread, you can see my handsome cat Chess as he bites the top of one of my wine bottles.

Yeah, AtariAge should have an exception so for your 1000, 5000, 10000, 20000 etc post, you're allowed to touch a prohibited subject. (but only those also reaching a milestone may comment)

      Can I have another one?

Yup! I opened it up so that people who requested a game can request another. Eventually, I'll probably open it up even more. I just wanted to avoid people coming in and snatching up a bunch of keys before others had a chance.

  12. Only 2 days and a handful of hours left to sign up for AtariAge Secret Santa. Details are in the Events forum.

  17. I'm drinking a beer called Six Foot Strawberry Blonde. It's like a mix of beer and Frankenberry. I don't hate it.

Frankenberry...good times. My wife just brought home all 3 "Monster" cereals because she remembered I like them so much as a kid and I guess many places only carry them during Halloween season.  Of course the cereal is garbage compared to what it used to be..when it was an actual baked item instead of the packing popcorn it has become..but still serviceable for Halloween memories.  Of course nothing will replace my favorite from back then which they stopped making in the late 70's or early 80's...Frute Brute!  I remember telling people about this cereal for 2 decades with no one remembering/believing me until it showed up in a scene from Tarantino's Pulp Fiction(he is fond of using old 70's references in his films even if they aren't 70's films themselves) and I literally stood up in the theater pointing "Frute Brute!" Fruit Brute | Lance pulp fiction, Pulp fiction, Pump fiction

And as I search the images out I see they did start making it again(at least at Halloween):

Anyway..I know everyone wanted to know all about defunct 70's breakfast cereals...so you're welcome!

A few Halloweens back I had Fruit Brute, BooBerry, and Yummy Mummy!  The latter, an orange flavor, I don't remember from BITD (Though I Totally remember Fruit Brute!),...I guess my Faves are Count Chocula and BooBerry.   Good Times!  I also remember an earlier cereal exactly like them, but based on Biplane Aces...Don't  remember the name but possibly Blue Max and Red Baron...(one red, one blue).

  18. You ever have so many projects going on at once that you get overwhelmed and end up not working on any of them?

Dail... screw it. I'll answer later.

  19. Just curious, how many of you are willing to spend 5 times or more the retail price of something that has only been out of print for a relatively short time (maybe a year or two)? It seems like the minute something goes out of print now, it immediately jumps at least to 2 or 3 times the retail price. Am I in the minority in that I refuse to pay that kind of markup on newer items?

Most Often, I'd say NO WAY!

but... there is a realistic component here in that it depends on what we're talking about.  Sometimes things are necessary (but that might apply more to say a classic car part,  than to a video game, system, or set up)...Also sometimes you just want what you want, and things can achieve mythical status as try to get them, esp. if you get close...

    4. chicgamer

      chicgamer

It just seems like everything skyrockets in price as soon as it's no longer available, now, instead of appreciating in value over time. Is FOMO that prevalent that we're willing to overpay so much so soon after items go out of print/production?

  20. It's my birthday! I need to decide what retro gaming goodness to treat myself to.

      Awesome!

I also recommend Joust by Team Pixelboy on ColecoVision if possible in the future...The "flaps" are more powerful making it a better game IMHO...

Yeah comparing Ultimate Qix to Qix is a lot like comparing Breakout to Arkanoid!   (HMMMmm Maybe that should be my new Status Update!)...  Cheers!

PS The other day I delivered some food to some coworkers who were off work and they were all playing some board game/card game that also featured a haunted mansion...Probably different though as I'm thinking it had Haunted Hill in the title somewhere...

Was it Betrayal at House on the Hill? I have that board game as well, but I've only tried playing it once (and I was a little tipsy at the time).

  21. Finally ordered an OSSC. Time to start making videos again.

  22. Upgraded my TI-99/4A with an F18A board today. With both a FlashROM99 and a CF7+ on the way, I have a lot of TI gaming ahead of me.

I hope those video cables hold up, it sucks when they break in the middle of setting a high score in Parsec!

This game is phenomenal. It's a crime that the creators were forced to quit distributing it.

You would think major publishers (especially ones like Sega and Capcom who aren't looked upon nearly as kindly as they once used to) would embrace these projects with open arms. It's a shame they treat them the way they do, there is so much potential to be had with these fan projects.

    4. chicgamer

      chicgamer

Especially this one, which apparently took 8 YEARS to make. Maybe Sega should have paid them to make the game for an official release. I definitely would have paid for this.

  25. Watching classic Twilight Zone episodes while working. Some of these still give me goosebumps.
