I bought a Skunkboard from Sell My Retro a couple of months ago, and while I've been happy with it for the most part, there is one big issue I've had with it—sometimes other carts won't work in my Jaguar after I remove the Skunkboard.
I know that this Skunkboard isn't beveled, but it also appears to be thicker than other cartridge PCBs. I'm not sure if all Skunkboards are like this (I used to have a V2 Skunkboard, but I never had any issues with it).
Anyone else have experience with the Skunkboard off Sell My Retro? Have you had similar issues, and if so, did you find a way to resolve it? I'm really worried about permanently damaging the cart connector on my Jaguar. The only solution that I can think of would be to create a pass-through adapter of some kind (which is beyond my abilities).

These ports still amaze me! So awesome to have all these classic games on the Jaguar.
By the way, if you ever need an additional tester, I have a shiny new Skunkboard. Well, maybe not shiny, but it is new.

I bought a Game.com and several games brand new a few years ago. I tried out all the games and then set everything aside. The screen is just too hard to see (of course, it didn't help that my brand new system's screen came out of the package with a blank horizontal line).
I typically find something to like for any system, but I've yet to do that with the Game.com. I tried playing Sonic a couple of days ago, and they just got everything wrong (except for maybe the graphics). Most of my time was spent trying to get enough momentum for Sonic to actually run up hills. Just ugh.

So, I watched a the ending of a playthrough that was completed with all fireflies, and it doesn't change the end so much as it does the last level. I won't spoil what changes, but it makes me want to replay and get all the fireflies.
-
I finally got around to playing through this. It's a very nice, polished game. Anyone know if collecting all the fireflies opens up anything (a different ending, maybe?).

It seems I have haters? I've noticed my last two 7800 vids have gotten two down votes. One was as soon as the video posted!
They never say anything in the comments, so I guess it isn't anything I can improve. Meh.
People will always find reasons to dislike. It may be that they don't like Xenophobe or don't like the 7800 or don't like a font you chose for your title card or your voice reminds them of some guy they once had a fight with. You shouldn't let it discourage you at all, because you're doing a great job with these videos.

I went back and forth about whether to buy the physical version or not, and I just went with the Steam version as well. Physical carts are nice to have, but I already have an issue with having enough space to store my physical games, and then there is the convenience of not needing to switch carts to play the game.

I hope I'm not "the one guy" you're referring to.

You can use a program like DAEOMON Tools to mount the ISO and explore its contents. The j64 file is in the Jaguar folder.

It's funny that this topic was posted yesterday, as I just got my first CED player last night.
The people on the CED VideoDisc and Player Discussion Forum could probably answer your questions about any games released as CEDs.

So can all these be purchased and run using a skunk board? Im still quite new to this. Thanks.
I was only able to do this with Alice Mom's Rescue.

The jumper is installed, and I double-checked all my solder points, so maybe it is just a bad thumbstick. I'll desolder it tomorrow and try a different thumbstick to see if that fixes it.
Thanks for the help!

Check if you soldered all the pins on the analog stick.
I just went over all the solder points again, adding a bit more solder to each to ensure a good connection, but I'm getting the same issue. I guess it's possible that there is an issue with the stick I'm using (it came off an old PS2 controller that was working the last time I used it).
By the way, thanks so much for sharing your case design! I printed a shell and will put my controller in it after I get it working.
-
Anyone want to help me troubleshoot the issues I'm having with this?
Tonight, I programmed the ATTiny85 using an Arduino Uno, I put it in my controller, hooked it up to my 5200, and ... the analog stick isn't working.
The buttons appear to be working fine, but I'm getting nothing from the analog stick. I tried it with both Centipede and Pac-Man.
Could it be that I don't have the jumpers set correctly, or is it more likely I screwed something up with the programming?

Yay! Glad you like everything! I wish it arrived sooner, but I'm glad you can still submit scores for Toyshop Trouble.

Robocop... I, II or III ?

Robocop 1 would be lovely. Robocop 2 would be nice as well. Robocop 3 ... it's hard to want that one, even from a completionist standpoint.
The NES versions of RoboCop aren't the greatest either.. but, I have to own all three out of respect to RoboCop lol
I watched the Prime Directives miniseries recently for the same reason.

I never played this game cooperatively. I would always hit the other player from below to knock them into an enemy or knock stunned enemies back over before the other player could kick them off the screen.
Another nice review! Your video quality looks really good through the RetroTINK!

This is really cool! I've been considering building my own rotary controller, but maybe I'll do something like this and add a rotary control to make one Jaguar stick to suit all my needs.
Are you still considering developing a rapid fire kit for the Jaguar? It would be cool to incorporate it as well.
______________
EDIT:
I just read that you'll be adding rapid fire at the end of your post, so just disregard my question.

The cartridge image is on the CD. If you explore the CD's contents, you'll find a j64 file that you can copy off the CD.

This game is incredibly addictive! I'm definitely looking forward to the cart release.

Actually, if you think of Choplifter through the lens of that article I linked, it makes sense. Moving left-to-right typically is considered to be making progress. When you start out, you move right-to-left; however, after you free the soldiers, you move left-to-right to return them to safety, and saving the soldiers is how you progress in the game.
I think it's highly unlikely that the original developer had this in mind, but it is interesting that it works out that way. Well, at least it is to me.

Kung Fu scrolled both ways, IIRC, depending on the level, it's been years now since I played it, but yeah, it does start out with left to right scrolling level. and it isn't bi-directional, it switches from level to level. Thanks for the reminder!

I'll have to fire up my 7800 emulator on my Dreamcast and give it another go! Too bad it never came out for the Atari 8-bit.
You're right—I forgot that it switched between levels. D'oh!
-
I think the left-to-right scrolling is due to the effect the movement can have on the audience. The left-to-right standard isn't just in video games—movies do it as well (check out this article).
It's likely just part of our conditioning in the Western world. We're accustomed to left-to-right in our reading, etc, so anything that diverges from that standard isn't seen as favorably.
That said, this topic got me thinking about other games that scroll right-to-left, such as Kung Fu, and I never was bothered by the scrolling in that game nor in Jungle Hunt.

Have you considered porting Robocop from the ST? That's one game that I would definitely love to have on a cart.
Probably not the best the ST has to offer, but ... it's Robocop!

Skunkboard from Sell My Retro
in Atari Jaguar
Posted
Looks like I never should have sold my V2 Skunkboard.
Is it seriously this simple? The cart will still work fine? I thought about doing this, but I was afraid I'd just damage the Skunkboard.
