Anyone want to help me troubleshoot the issues I'm having with this? Tonight, I programmed the ATTiny85 using an Arduino Uno, I put it in my controller, hooked it up to my 5200, and ... the analog stick isn't working. The buttons appear to be working fine, but I'm getting nothing from the analog stick. I tried it with both Centipede and Pac-Man. Could it be that I don't have the jumpers set correctly, or is it more likely I screwed something up with the programming?

Yay! Glad you like everything! I wish it arrived sooner, but I'm glad you can still submit scores for Toyshop Trouble. Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk

Robocop 1 would be lovely. Robocop 2 would be nice as well. Robocop 3 ... it's hard to want that one, even from a completionist standpoint. I watched the Prime Directives miniseries recently for the same reason.

I never played this game cooperatively. I would always hit the other player from below to knock them into an enemy or knock stunned enemies back over before the other player could kick them off the screen. Another nice review! Your video quality looks really good through the RetroTINK!

This is really cool! I've been considering building my own rotary controller, but maybe I'll do something like this and add a rotary control to make one Jaguar stick to suit all my needs. Are you still considering developing a rapid fire kit for the Jaguar? It would be cool to incorporate it as well. ______________ EDIT: I just read that you'll be adding rapid fire at the end of your post, so just disregard my question.

This game is incredibly addictive! I'm definitely looking forward to the cart release.

Damn. I met him in 2016 at the Louisville Arcade Expo, and he seemed like an incredibly nice guy. So sad he died at a relatively young age.

Actually, if you think of Choplifter through the lens of that article I linked, it makes sense. Moving left-to-right typically is considered to be making progress. When you start out, you move right-to-left; however, after you free the soldiers, you move left-to-right to return them to safety, and saving the soldiers is how you progress in the game. I think it's highly unlikely that the original developer had this in mind, but it is interesting that it works out that way. Well, at least it is to me.

You're right—I forgot that it switched between levels. D'oh!

I think the left-to-right scrolling is due to the effect the movement can have on the audience. The left-to-right standard isn't just in video games—movies do it as well (check out this article). It's likely just part of our conditioning in the Western world. We're accustomed to left-to-right in our reading, etc, so anything that diverges from that standard isn't seen as favorably. That said, this topic got me thinking about other games that scroll right-to-left, such as Kung Fu, and I never was bothered by the scrolling in that game nor in Jungle Hunt.

Have you considered porting Robocop from the ST? That's one game that I would definitely love to have on a cart. Probably not the best the ST has to offer, but ... it's Robocop!

You can preorder it here: https://doublesidedgames.com/shop/commodore/abbaye-des-morts/

It's not as polished. I'm pretty sure it's a mobile port, though there don't appear to be microtransactions (I just checked, since you spend coins to unlock new hats, cars, etc, but I don't think you can buy coins with real money—you have to earn them). As for the partial controller support mentioned earlier, the menus have to be navigated using your mouse, but you can use the controller during each race. I tried playing the game again on 50 cc, and I did much, much better. On 150 cc, all of the other karts are faster than your base kart, so it's hard to win (or not to come in last, for some of us).

I have the following up for offer for the price of shipping. Starting from the upper left: 1. Video game tie in question mark block box. I received this in a subscription box, and it turns out I really don't need a tie. If anyone is interested, I can post another pic of what the actual tie looks like. Gone! 2. Castlevania: Rondo of Blood for the PC Engine CD. This is a freebie I got from PCE Works. It is the translated version of this game on a pressed disc (not a CD-R). Gone! 3. VIC-20 Cassette Six Pack. Includes word processing and personal finance software. Who needs Microsoft Word or Quicken when you can do it all on your VIC-20? Gone! 4. Fellowship of the Ring for Xbox. This is not in its original case. It's also not a very good game, from what I remember. Gone! 5. The Legend of Zelda DVD. Includes three classic episodes."Classic" meaning that they're from the '80s—not that they're good. Gone! 6. Assassin's Creed Lineage Blu-ray. If I remember correctly, this tells the story of Ezio's father and leads up to the events of Assassin's Creed II. Not bad. Gone! 7. The Sixth Sense DVD. I see dead people ... and a twist! Gone! 8. Sega Genesis Flashback. I got this in a lot of free items from Grig. The system works (in that it turns on and plays games), as do both controllers, though the controllers do not have battery covers (batteries seem to stay in without them, though). I decided that this would not, in fact, replace my childhood model 1 Genesis, so it's up for grabs. Gone!

You gave six hours to this game? Good god. I tried playing this a couple of times, I think. The first time, I realized it was terribly broken and stopped within a minute or two. The second time was to make sure that I was remembering my first experience correctly. I was.

So, since we've started sharing ... My Secret Santa contacted me via the forum and recommended that I go ahead and open my package if I had free time ahead of Christmas. That was all the nudging I needed to give in and open my package. Here is a picture of my wrapped packages: And here they are opened: Kinda feels like I hit the Secret Santa jackpot!

Okay, here is a new gameplay video. I figured out the drift/boost mechanic ... yet I still lost every race.
-
I recorded some gameplay. No comments on how much I suck at this game! I think there's a whole drift/boost mechanic I didn't know how to use. Edit: I didn't realize my mic was picking up while playing this. I'll record a new version and upload. Ugh.

Sega Gen 1, CD, 32x and Power base converter....HOW ?
chicgamer replied to TheCoolDave's topic in Sega Genesis
If you do get an SMS, I recommend modding it for FM, especially if you're going to play the Phantasy Star retranslation. -
I should be receiving what I need today for my Secret Santa gift today, so I should finally be shipping out everything this weekend or Monday. I'm hoping that two weeks is enough time for it to be delivered overseas by Christmas. *fingers crossed*

If she's anything like me, then yes, yes she would.

I bought it on sale for a dollar a while back. I'm not sure why it says it only has partial controller support, as I don't recall any issues using my Xbox 360 controller with it. I don't think it can compete with Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed or Mario Kart 8, but it's an okay kart racer.

My package came from Australia (really excited to see what's inside!), so I think I'm going to open mine on Christmas Eve and post pics. That way, they should be up for my Secret Santa to see on Christmas day.

So, I received my Secret Santa package today, and I feel super guilty because I haven't been able to send my package out yet. It's coming! I don't know when (still waiting on a shipment to get to me)—but it's coming!
