Just curious—will the XM be available to order after it's completed?
I've followed this project somewhat during its development, and I know there have ups and downs and delays and whatnot, so I'm not sure if the plan is to make only enough to cover the people who preordered these or if units will be available for sale after those preorders are fulfilled.

Yeah, I think the UltiMem is what I want. I want to boost the RAM of my VIC-20 and have the ability to add ROMs to the cart (I heard there is a homebrew version of Q*bert on the VIC that is much better than the officially released version).

Okay, cool. I can't find anything on YouTube about it other than a recording of a presentation Jim did. That seems weird to me, because I see multiple videos for the PenUltimate Cartridge, but the UltiMem offers more for a lower price (unless I don't have a full understanding of each cart, which is quite possible).

So, I finally gave in and recently ordered an Ultimate II+ for my Commodore 64, and now I'm trying to find a good solution for my VIC-20. The UltiMem looks like maybe it would work. Anyone have experience with it?

Grig sent me a box of video game goodness for the price of shipping, and it arrived super fast. Thanks so much!

I'm sure there are some out there—they may just be really obscure.
Off the top of my head, I can only think of how The Simpsons: Road Rage changes if played on a holiday (such as the changes to Marge when played on Thanksgiving).

If #3 does not turn out, I'll paypal today...
Were there any items in particular you wanted from box 3? I bought it mainly for the N64 power adapters and RAM upgrade.

I bought my 32X with Doom included on clearance for $15 back in the mid '90s. It was the only way for me to play Doom until I finally got a new PC in maybe '97. Even though it wasn't the best version, it was the version I had, and I was thrilled that I finally got to play this game that people had been talking about for years.
I even like the music of the 32X version, but I'm sure that is mostly due to nostalgia. One thing I can say about the 32X version—for whatever reason, I don't remember getting motion sickness while playing it. I can't say the same about many FPS games released around that time.

Correct, most sources rather point at a launch price of $189. Perhaps this was a Value Pak with an extra hand controller and a mail-in coupon for a free copy of Sonic the Hedgehog?
I found this list of known Genesis bundles: https://segaretro.org/Mega_Drive_consoles_in_North_America
Yeah, $189 is what I remember. I actually sold my Master System (and maybe my NES) to buy it.
-
The Master System actually is the only console I ever received as a Christmas gift. I think I received it, Choplifter, and Ghostbusters for Christmas 1987.

Because I was always a Sega girl, here's some Sega Christmas commercials.
By the way, $290 for a Genesis? I never remember the console being that expensive.

Y'all are making me nostalgic for some classic commercials.

I love how the Ghostbusters jump up and down after successfully trapping a ghost.

This isn't for me, as I'll stick with my childhood Genesis as long as it continues to function, but it's cool to see an affordable new system that works well. I would have considered buying this for a friend if I hadn't set her up earlier this year with a Genesis 2.

Well, who can say no to Nancy Reagan on Mr. T's lap? I guess I'm in as well.

Which model segaCD do you have? Most likely the main logic could use a recap. I did mine sometime back. HOWEVER, I also made the mistake of recapping the laser assembly as well since those are included in the kit I got. And... the damn thing would not work anymore after that. Even when I installed the original caps..it refused to move up and down and home in anymore. Had to swap out the laser assembly with another one I has tucked away. So, the only thing I can think of, is that the new caps changed everything electrically so much, that is somehow immediately burned out the laser diode when it was first powered on. No amount of adjustment afterwards would resurrect it.
I have the model 2. I'll need to look into a recap kit. I hope that's it and it's not the laser (not sure how difficult it is to find a replacement).
These kinds of stories are why I (as somebody who has no soldering skill) am so excited about 100% (or 99.9999%) accurate clone consoles and will pay the price, but I'll never buy a Sega CD again for fear of this sort of thing.
Yeah, I'm really hoping for a Sega CD ODE. I have to think that one will eventually get made, considering all of the consoles that have an ODE now (Turbo CD, FM Towns Marty, Saturn, PS1, Dreamcast, etc).

Right, without the patch cable, you get no Genesis audio from the RCA jacks on the back of the Sega CD. I just keep the volume slider on my Genesis at max. It seems strange to me that Sega never released an official patch cable for this sized to the exact length needed (at least, if they did, I never remember seeing it).
Off topic, but a couple of weeks ago, I finally started having issues with my Sega CD. I bought it new in 1995 (I think), so after 23 years, it finally needs some work. I really wish someone would come out with an ODE for the Sega CD.
-
I have a model 1 hooked up to a model 2 Sega CD, and I run a cable from the headphone jack on the Genesis to the Sega CD and then run that audio from the Sega CD to speakers. It works without issue.

This Sega-16 thread response by TmEE may answer your EXT port question.
Retro Access sells RGB SCART cables for the Genesis model 1.
For component, you can get the HD Retrovision Genesis 2 cables with an adapter.

Time to get Albert to front page that these are ready for purchase and good to go!
Yeah, why hasn't this happened yet?

I finally got around to playing Horizon Zero Dawn this month and am close to finishing it. Probably won't until next month, though, as I'm focusing on horror games until Halloween.
I've bought so many games recently that I need to get to—Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Shenmue I & II, Fist of the North Star, Nioh, The Last Guardian ... there's just never enough time.
