Because I was always a Sega girl, here's some Sega Christmas commercials. By the way, $290 for a Genesis? I never remember the console being that expensive.

Y'all are making me nostalgic for some classic commercials.

I love how the Ghostbusters jump up and down after successfully trapping a ghost.

Why is no one talking about this new Hyperkin Genesis HD clone?
chicgamer replied to MantaNZ's topic in Sega Genesis
This isn't for me, as I'll stick with my childhood Genesis as long as it continues to function, but it's cool to see an affordable new system that works well. I would have considered buying this for a friend if I hadn't set her up earlier this year with a Genesis 2. -
Well, who can say no to Nancy Reagan on Mr. T's lap? I guess I'm in as well.

SEGA Genesis 1 ext port pinout question and other video/audio comments
chicgamer replied to HDTV1080P's topic in Sega Genesis
I have the model 2. I'll need to look into a recap kit. I hope that's it and it's not the laser (not sure how difficult it is to find a replacement). Yeah, I'm really hoping for a Sega CD ODE. I have to think that one will eventually get made, considering all of the consoles that have an ODE now (Turbo CD, FM Towns Marty, Saturn, PS1, Dreamcast, etc). -
SEGA Genesis 1 ext port pinout question and other video/audio comments
chicgamer replied to HDTV1080P's topic in Sega Genesis
Right, without the patch cable, you get no Genesis audio from the RCA jacks on the back of the Sega CD. I just keep the volume slider on my Genesis at max. It seems strange to me that Sega never released an official patch cable for this sized to the exact length needed (at least, if they did, I never remember seeing it). Off topic, but a couple of weeks ago, I finally started having issues with my Sega CD. I bought it new in 1995 (I think), so after 23 years, it finally needs some work. I really wish someone would come out with an ODE for the Sega CD. -
SEGA Genesis 1 ext port pinout question and other video/audio comments
chicgamer replied to HDTV1080P's topic in Sega Genesis
I have a model 1 hooked up to a model 2 Sega CD, and I run a cable from the headphone jack on the Genesis to the Sega CD and then run that audio from the Sega CD to speakers. It works without issue. -

This Sega-16 thread response by TmEE may answer your EXT port question. Retro Access sells RGB SCART cables for the Genesis model 1. For component, you can get the HD Retrovision Genesis 2 cables with an adapter. -

What are you playing on your PlayStation 4?
chicgamer replied to Algus's topic in Sony PlayStation 4
I finally got around to playing Horizon Zero Dawn this month and am close to finishing it. Probably won't until next month, though, as I'm focusing on horror games until Halloween. I've bought so many games recently that I need to get to—Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Shenmue I & II, Fist of the North Star, Nioh, The Last Guardian ... there's just never enough time. -
Brand New Atari Jaguar Pro Controllers- For Sale!

I got paid today, so I purchased my set this morning. I really hope more people follow through with their commitment to buy. I also just posted about this to my (very limited) group of followers on Twitter. -
My parents never really played games when I was growing up. However, a few years before he passed, I set my dad up with my old computer, and he started learning to use it. I ended up buying him a Hoyle poker game for it, and he ended up spending tons of time playing it. whenever I was around and he was on the computer, he would show me how much money he had earned in the game. I still have his save file with all his earnings.

Yeah, the House of the Dead: Overkill has more missions and a new character compared to the Wii version. I have all the House of the Dead games available on the PS3 (2, 3, 4, and Overkill). If only they would have done a remastered version of the first game ... I also have the Resident Evil light gun games on the PS3, but I have yet to get around to playing them. I usually play these games with a friend, and it's just easy to pick up and play the House of the Dead games.

I'm really looking forward to this. The Onimusha series was one of my favorites for the PS2. It will be nice to play without the tank controls.

Wow ... that's unexpected. The problem is that they wouldn't be able to include the Mario and Zelda games, and that is what would attract most people to a CD-i mini. Mutant Rampage: Bodyslam in HD, though, especially if they did a little tweaking and added coop play ...

Is this a good controller to use for Super Street Fighter 2? I've thought in the past about trying to track down a couple of 6-button controllers for my 3DO.

Doctor Hauzer 3DO English translation
chicgamer replied to Rick Dangerous's topic in 3DO Interactive Multiplayer
It might be feasible to beat it (part of the gameplay is about trial and error, anyway), but you'll miss out on the story. Not that the story is great, but I don't think I would have enjoyed the game without the translation. -
I doubt anyone would ever find a way to play Sega CD on a CD-i. Even if it were possible, I don't think there are enough CD-i owners to make it a worthwhile project (especially since many people who own a CD-i are likely collectors who already own a Sega CD). One thing I would love to see is an optical drive emulator like we now have for the Saturn, Dreamcast, Turbo CD, FM Towns Marty, and 3DO. I'm not sure that anyone will ever thinks it's worthwhile enough to develop one for the CD-i. One thing to consider when purchasing a CD-i—there is a battery that is housed within a chip inside the CD-i, and these batteries have all either failed or will fail soon. I've seen claims that when the battery dies, the CD-i no longer works; however, the battery in my CD-i is dead, but the only problem it creates is that I can't save games.

Mutant Rampage: Bodyslam It's not a great beat-'em-up, but there is a large variety of enemies and several levels. The graphics are good for the time, too. The Apprentice A nice platform game, again with good graphics for the time.

One of my favorite SNES beat-'em-ups. Looks like it's getting two new characters. Love it that the beat-'em-up genre seems to be coming back.

I'm glad they were able to release it on Steam so that they'll get a bit more notice, though I can't imagine playing it on Steam. I really want to play it on my Genesis. I found an email address on their website, so i sent them a message asking about whether they include a digital copy for the preorders for the physical copies that are currently open. Keeping my fingers crossed that they say, "yes."
