  1. Well, since you included Dungeons & Dragons Chronciles, which you admit in your article isn't technically modern, you might also consider Streets of Rage Remake. The Streets of Rage/Bare Knuckle series is my favorite series of beat-'em-ups (as if my avatar doesn't give that away). I have played through Streets of Rage 2 multiple times, and I always enjoy it.
  2. I don't know that a Silent Hill game has ever caused me to cry, but I've certainly felt the tragedy of what the characters have experienced. I just finished playing through The Walking Dead season 1, and I did cry. I won't say why, because I don't want to spoil anything for those of you who have yet to play it.
  3. Thanks! Below is the video of the playthrough, if anyone is interested. I beat the game for the first time (I think)! Looks like I need to play some Sonic and Columns to increase my score.
  4. Ha ha! It's good to see some fellow Hoosiers about.
  5. Well, considering that this post is over a year old, I doubt you'll ever come back to check it, but I'm in Bloomington.
  6. Yeah, the promise of an external device that plugs into the digital output is very tempting.
  7. Website Anyone going? I'll be there on Saturday, March 5.
  8. Badass Consoles is also coming out with a Gamecube HDMI mod called GCVideo.
  9. I bought an RGB-modded Core Grafx from mickcris. The console arrived quickly and is in really nice condition. He even included an extension cable for the notoriously short PC-Engine controller cable. Highly recommended!
  10. I have it hooked up to a 40" HDTV via a SCART to HDMI converter. I actually was thinking of capturing some video from it tonight. So happy!
  11. Bought a GBA Afterburner kit NIP from Emehr. The item arrived quickly, and Emerhr even refunded some of what I paid for shipping when he realized that shipping costs wouldn't be as high as he first estimated. Very happy!
  12. Late last fall, I started a new YouTube series called Gaming with Friends Who Suck. The idea is that I play games with friends who don't have much of a background in gaming (or any). I finally got around to recording a second video. I'm posting both videos below for anyone who is interested. I still have a few things to work out (volume being one—hopefully, using identical headsets will help with that), but I'm having a lot of fun with the videos. Enjoy! Episode 1: Double Dragon Trilogy (OUYA) Episode 2: Super Mario Bros and Mario Bros (NES)
  13. It always will be Genesis for me. The Sega Genesis is the system I fell in love with. To me, the name makes sense, much more so than the names of any of the other Sega systems.
  14. The angriest I have ever made a friend of mine was playing Mean Bean Machine against her. She seriously still gets peeved if I even bring up that game. I think I beat her fifteen times in a row. She was furious. I wasn't very good at the single-player mode. I also played this on the Sonic XBox 360 compilation, and it didn't take me long to give up on the Mean Bean Machine achievement.
  15. A good resource for this kind of info is RetroRGB. We're so spoiled now, compared to when these consoles first came out. I remember playing my systems via RF with several RF adapters hooked together to the one coaxial input on the back of my TV. I even remember playing my TurboGrafx hooked up to my tiny black-and-white PXL 2000 TV. I don't think I even got to use composite until the late '90s. Now, most of my systems are modded to output RGB or S-video. No more blurry or fuzzy images.
  16. It's been really interesting reading through this thread. Years ago, I attempted to transfer some of my family's old 8 mm movies to video using a projector and digital camcorder setup. Not professional by any means, but it worked well . . . until the old film started to break. I decided at that point it was best to get the work professionally done. One of my siblings took all of the old movies and was to look into it. Don't know if that ever happened. I still have a couple of old 8 mm cameras, including one belonging to my grandfather, as well as an 8 mm and 16 mm projector. They're more decoration now than anything, though. I miss film. HD video is obviously better than those 8 mm cameras, and camcorders are much more user friendly, but there's still something special about film.
  17. I have to say that I absolutely love my RGB-modded NES. Definitely worth it to me (especially after screwing up on NES trying to do the RGB mod myself ).
  18. Yes, I suck for never making it down to Louisville to make the trade. I plan on coming to the Arcade Expo again this year. If you haven't traded it by then or haven't received a better offer, I'll definitely trade my 400 for it.
  19. Just started a new YouTube series: Gaming with Friends Who Suck. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuQ1gv_Baneo2dNiUZOp2Pg

  20. Please add me to the list. Thanks!
  21. I like my CD-i quite a bit. It has some very apparent limitations, but it's an interesting part of video game history. As a beat-'em-up lover, I dig Mutant Rampage: Bodyslam, even though it lacks two-player support, the music cuts out during sound effects, and the controls aren't really precise. It just has a lot of interesting character designs, plus it has the notorious, hilariously bad animated cut scenes.
