  1. Let me guess, "not working" means it does not show up, you get a normal Master Title Screen? Or does it lock up? Check the DIP switch of the P-Code card. You must turn it on; default is off.
  2. mizapf

    scsi2sd

I'm powering it from the PEB.
  3. Could it be that we did not have a RPK of Tutankham yet? tutankham.rpk
  4. About the mame64.exe vs. mame.exe issue: This will be effective with release 0.229. On Github, this change has already been committed, but it is not part of the 0.228 release.
  5. No, SCSI is not yet supported. There may be suitable SCSI controller chips, but I did not yet put together a full card. For an overview of emulated equipment, see https://www.mizapf.de/13-comp/49-tiemufeat
  6. Germanic languages lost the synthetic passive voice long ago; that is, we have to construct the passive voice (English "be done", German "getan werden/sein"). German could profit from its inflections more than English (four cases), but as in most other related languages, articles are required, and this is where Latin wins. Essentially, Latin has a very low redundancy, while English and German and most other modern languages show a higher degree. Redundancy in natural languages is not a bad thing. It makes our languages better understandable, with a lower chance of misunderstanding. If you have a look at more distant language families, it is still surprising how many similarities there are in the Indo-European family. Edit: This was my 5k post, but it was not computer-related. I should have checked before. 🙂
  7. If you can get it working again, you can test as follows: If the computer immediately resets on button press -> Reset If it locks up, restart, do a CALL LOAD(-4,131,224,0,36) and try again. If it resets -> Load interrupt
  8. vivitur = passive voice of vivere, 3rd person singular ("it is lived", in the sense of "you live") ingenio = ablative case of ingenium ("by the genius", "by the talent") cætera = alternative form of cetera ("the others", cf. "et cetera") mortis = genitive singular ("of the death") erunt = future tense of esse ("will be") I'd translate it as "you live by your genius, everything else will die". In German you could do an almost verbatim translation as "Es wird durch den Geist gelebt; alles andere ist des Todes."
  9. There is no functional change between 0.227 and 0.228 for the TI emulations. However ... I just noticed they changed the executable name. It is not "mame64.exe" or "mame64" anymore but "mame.exe" or "mame". Please check all your start scripts once you installed 0.228. (Oh dear. (Don't look at me. (It wasn't me.))) I remember this was once discussed on the mailing list, but forgot about that. When I built the new release, I wondered why I am still getting a version "0.227" information before I realized that there is a newly named executable. (Great ... I'll have to update the installer scripts now...) Wait ... I just saw that the official MAME for Windows package from mamedev.org still contains mame64.exe. Maybe just wait some days until this gets clearer.
  10. No contribution from me this time, but next month (0.229) brings a fix of the debugger for the Geneve. I noticed that bytes typed into the memory dump window were not stored, but I was able to find the error (used the wrong variable).
  11. What am I supposed to think about this person? I mean, any kind of verbal utterance in some language has some inherent intention. I somewhat fail to get the meaning of such a statement. Should I be impressed? Adoring? Upset? Intimidated? Submissive? I think I'll pick Ignoring.
  12. No problem here either; I am attaching the file (I think it was my scan). abasic_manual.pdf
  13. Aha! I'd like to change my vote from Shamus to Centipede.
  14. I just added some more "artwork" to Ninerpedia, since I already missed that document: https://www.ninerpedia.org/wiki/Geneve_logical_memory_map This also compares Native mode to GPL mode.
  15. If you number them, you may play Towers of Hanoi (Lucas' Tower) with them and have some sport.
  16. I was very indecisive about that list, but checked "Shamus". This is mainly because of its large map. I used to play Defender a lot in the last millennium, but the respawn of the ship sometimes annoyed me (right in the middle of the fuss). If I remember correctly, I also played Pole Position several times, but since I had an Amiga during that time as well, I quickly found myself playing "Test Drive". (Well, and today the name is "Dirt Rally", and I have a FF wheel, and THIS is really fun.)
  17. Actually, I did not want to sound too defensive here; I did not understand your message as a complaint. However, there is one point that triggers me. Saying that some software, particularly MAME, gets increasingly hungry is a very catchy meme. It's what people tend to remember most easily, as it occurs so many times for applications, operation systems, and more, and it makes it difficult to motivate people to upgrade their versions even though the new one delivers bug fixes or nice new features. So my posting should be understood as purely informative. 🙂
  18. For a brief moment, this list reminded me of "Pixels" (with A. Sandler; the movie ran on TV some days ago) because a lot of those games showed up there. I have to admit - against all negative reviews - that I actually enjoy this movie ...
  19. Just as a side comment: I don't think MAME has become progressively more resource-hungry. There were two steps in the evolution that indeed raised the bar: 0.147 (from 2012) where the CPU was rewritten to run microprograms and to fully process the READY line, thus becoming cycle-precise 0.153 (from 2014) where the floppy system was rewritten to operate on low-level flux changes instead of the high-level byte representation All following changes had a smaller impact on performance, if any. In fact, both changes were inevitable due to the evolution of the MAME framework. As of now, I don't plan and I don't expect any similar changes in future.
  20. The SuperSpace2 RPK simply contains the Editor/Assembler GROM, and the information that it is a SuperSpace2. The main work is done by the emulation by allocating NVRAM memory space for it.
  21. If you believe the Geneve is an add-on to the TI-99/4A, You're Holding it Wrong.
  22. I'd vote for adding the Geneve to the mentioned subforum. We currently have some traffic concerning the Geneve, but this is not always the case. It would also fit the description "stand-alone system with TMS99xx", we already have the 99/8 and 99/2 in there.
  23. That's new to me. How do you specify the encryption in the PAB?
  24. When I changed the battery, I did not try to unsolder it but just cut the wires and then soldered a battery holder on the wires. The interesting thing about the 32K expansion is that the gate array pin is actually named RAMENX, intended to select this second RAM chip. No tricks; it is rather like completing the Geneve board, not doing a mod.
