I always thought there was only 2 variations for the Odyssey 2. Hard wired and plug in controller models. Both had the Odyssey 2 logo decaled on the smooth surface. Yesterday I picked up one hard wired that has an embossed plastic area with "Odyssey 2 microprocessor" I assume since the power supply that's hard wired says 82 on it, that this style was changed towards the end of the lifespan. It also came with a new old stock replacement hard wired controller in the original box with a bill reciept from January of 84. Does anyone else know of this variation or any others that were available during the lifespan of the O2?

Usually I see this on games like centipede. Where there's double text. When it faded. I'll see if I have a spare copy when I get home

Sent if that worked

Usually when I get an early brown label title there tends to be some slight doubling in the text. One like it should and the other is the darker text. Usually it's always of the same title and style.
But today I got a educational system cxl4001 cart with a brown label but the black double printing shows a Dorsett printing which seemed strange cause it wasn't the same style as what is printed originally. Any idea what causes these double printings let alone what would cause a different label text under the regular text

Hey all,
Im currently looking for a prototype copy of Behind Jaggi Lines. Even though the #3 cart I used to own is really a needle in a hay stack I would love to track it down for my collection again. I figure I would start here in my quest to find and reunite with the cart again. Anyone who might have a prototype of Behind Jaggi Lines please let me know.

Id be interested in seeing this. the only launch titles that didnt match up from the original press release to what officially came out was
CXL4003 Assembler Debug ---- Assembler Editor
CXL4005 LIFE ----- Video Easel
CXL4006 Super Bug ---- Super Breakout
CXL8001 Home Financial ----- Checkbook.
I think thats the full list of name changes and CXL8001 never was offically released but one member here has one.

the 3 I have is
7800 Diagnostic Ver. 1.00
Atari Lab Temp.
and 3600 Asteroids
the diagnostic rom chip and board works fine.

Eh Ive had cats and they never did that. One puked inside the case of a 2600 I was fixing. Unpleasant as that was the inside of an empty 2600 was better than the carpet. Always consider the alternative when viewing s picture like that. It could always be worse. The puke was in plain view and not hidden for a long period of time

I emailed him earlier this week. I figure he's busy and will get to me shortly. Hoping gary was on here also

Do you do only 7800 dumps or 8 bit computer cart dumps too
-
Does anyone know how to contact gary rubio? I know he worked on the 7800 high score cart. Thanks
-
There's a bunch of carts a8 computer and now 7800 boards in need of dumping on my end
-
Also heard the atari lab rom should work with a 7800 keyboard that never came out. So I guess this was a work in progress but in the middle of research on both asteroids and atari lab game rom boards
-
I have 2 rom boards for the 3600/7800.
Atari lab temperature 5/11/84
3600 asteroids part# Rev 8 and a check sum
The 7800 diagnostic cart v. 1.00 works on the normal system as it is
-
Cool thanks. Just need to find a way to burn it to a chip and install after and should be good to go. Was never aware there were atari 7800 roms that woud nt play on a 7800 without the dev bios mod.
-
I'm looking for a quick and painless way to mod y system to be a developers system. I was told it's a bios swap so I assum a simple chip swap. Burn an eprom with the correct bios so I can play unencrypted games. What would be the best easiest and painless way to tackle this. This way I can test put 2 eprom boards I got today.

I got the lot in the mail on monday and heres the update on the early findings.
I opened up each cart to see what was in each cart. and inside each cart is an ASSY C060053 Atari board with EPROM chips. Many of them are covered up with the HI and LO marked off with a check sum on the labels. All games booted up the same as the regular releases accept for Robotoron 2084 which booted up differently on the Atari 800 but booted normally on the XEGS. ( not sure why one system its different but im gonna thats a normal boot due to how it booted on the XEGS). First assumption is that these might be final versions but a reviewer copy or tester in house copy but hoping there is some sorta difference that is worth noting to the community.
Satan's Hallow which when I booted it up it said CBS ELECTRONICS instead of BY DUSTY or CBS SOFTWARE. The game is in a K-Byte case and EPROMs are on a K-Byte board ( no jumper wires or anything on the board. ) I sent pictures off to Tempest about it.
Next plans is to sit down and play the games and see if there are any differences and then work on getting these carts dumped incase there is anything note worthy for the community. I still dont know who the ex employee from atari who worked back when but Im working on seeing if I can get that info from the seller.

Picked up 3 Atari 7800 prototypes. should be at the end of the week
-
What does an atari 8 bit computer CBS prototype board look like. Or a CBS prototype board in general for any atari system look like
-
Tempest. I reached out to an ex employee and showed the pictures i have at the moment some of the hand writing like millipede track and field last star fighter and final legacy look similar to prototype carts he has from the 2600 side. But he woud need to dig through to confirm. So in house copies to say the least. Be interesting if not the final copies. Hard to tell what is a prototype and what is a employee copy made in house I'd bet. Unless there are tells for each. If so I'd sure like to learn. I'll have the carts next week most likely.

Currently looking for a prototype cart. Ultimately finding the copy called "3" I really would love to land that cart again.
