I was talking to a guy about Atari games and he told me about this cart he had forsale. Its a Final Legacy Rev 5.3 Titled "Legacy". I know in my research there was a REV. 5.3 and 7.1 with 7.1 being a later version. The owner claims he got it from the original programmer himself as it was part of his personal collection and was passed over to the current owner over time. I know Atari 2600 and 5200s had the lab loaner labels and I have never seen any in my research of Atari 8 bit protos. Nor have I seen any on AtariProtos.com's site. SO I figure this item looks legit. He was able to tell me some of the variations this cart is over the regular release version ( Blue text, No game over, different music, Title Screen saying Legacy instead of Final Legacy. In my paperwork research theres a Beta 1 and Beta 2. I dont know if this differs from the 2 versions in proto form Ive learned about ( 5.3 and 7.1 ). Anyway I wanted to get your opinions on the cart. The insides are regular reprogrammable eprom chips. Label looks well aged. Opinions welcomed. Also what would to value be on an item like this?

This saddens me to hear but I can understand how real life may be in the way. I will contact you this week on one or two topics. On a similar topic we talked about earlier.
I hope that things improve for you and that your heart finds its way back into the site down the road. You have been a true asset to the community.

Thats how it starts... Before you know it you got more games than you expected cause you want to try em, or they were a steal ( or free ) or something you originally wanted to resell for profit. Thats what im going to try to do for the SNES get what i like and go from there. But im sure some non favorites will work their way into the collection. I dont think any of us really has the available cash flow to really go after most everything. even on the same system

XEGSes have been commanding somewhat crazy money on eBay lately. I think you bought VERY well, especially with all the games you got there. I haven't been showing mine much love lately, but it can be both fun and frustrating to collect for. I have almost zero expectation to find any software in the wild (I did buy a tatty looking copy of Robotron 2084 for $1.50 in Phoenix, but the rom is loose and I haven't bothered to figure out how to fix it), so eBay is the likely the better place to look. But stuff tends to be for crazy money -- I see the same sellers list, and relist the same stuff over and over again. But patience is rewarded because every now and then some amazing deals pop up (and I kick myself every time I don't pull the trigger). I got really lucky one time on a shopgoodwill auction and got Froggger II with 4-5 other more common A8 carts for $30ish with shipping. Frogger II is one I would highly recommend, really cool game and plays very well on the XEGS.I've been saying that too. Hard to find any A8 in the wild and eBay sellers feel they have gold. But If you look and hunt you will find games at good prices. After watch Mario bros listed for 50-90$ I scored one for 35. I think 30 is about right on a Mario title but its better than paying that much more.
Also what are you collect for a full set or just some good playing titles. Good playing titles can be done hunting a little and checking in with Craigslist and ebay along with members of this board. A full set..... Be ready for a life time challenge Craigslist and atari age will be your best friends over eBay.
On eBay don't be afraid to email those sellers who just repost games to just show off ( and if one sells for crazy money all the more power ). You might get a great price on that item or something that might not have been listed yet. Ask you will know don't ask and live wondering.
334 US cart title set is challenging to say the least and would be impressive if anyone can complete that set.
Makes me wonder does anyone have a complete a8 set. If not who's close to a full cart set ( boxed games behind )

Let me know how thunder fox rescue on fractious and Star Trek are.

Im currently looking for Atari 8 Bit cartridge prototypes. Any title, any brand. Please let me know what you have available and a price you had in mind.
Also interested in any tester copies of games ( that would have been available for testers or to magazines for evaluation purposes ).

Thanks!
Right now I'm looking for Pitfall 2, Karateka, Frogger 2, River Raid, and Bruce Lee. I'd also like to eventually get Pitfall, Atlantis, Kaboom, Gremlins (is it on cartridge?), Blue Max, Miner 2049er, E.T., and Return of the Jedi.
Im pretty sure that Gremlins was an Atari Soft title ( in cartridge form for non Atari systems ). Im gonna go on a limb and say that its a diskette title for release with the Atari 8 bit cause Ive never seen it out in cartidge form outside of the 2600 5200. Like stated by another member most of the titles you mention are on the pricer side. However I do believe you can get River raid, Miner 2049er, ROTJ, and Blue Max for under 15.00 ea with some searching. Frogger 2 would be a $15-25 game, Pitfall 2 Is a $30 to $40 on ebay with Karateka being outrageously over priced on ebay right now in the $225 range. As rare and hard to find as it is I dont see it being that expensive. Bruce Lee would be a $20-30 game which If I recall you can still get at Best Electronics.
While your looking for good titles worth playing might I suggest the following few : Pool 400 by IDSI, ( $8 to 15 ) Buck Rogers ($10-15), and QIX ( $5-10)

If you need any carts let me know. Ive been doing a deal for bulk carts on here fora while and I should be getting a delivery of carts in the next week or 2. Let me know

Well played. That's a nice starter collection one one one you will like along with hardball. Missile command comes built into the system simply disconnect the keyboard. It's not the cheapest atari system to get games for but I think they have some of the nicest looking games around.

Air freshener on the table and my girlfriend's mother in the background also NOT included.

I have 2 NES consoles available. Both I would say they are parts systems ( they might be fixable if anyone has a nack for that kinda stuff and likes a challenge. ) When plugged in niether system lights up and there is some rust inside the systems ( Im guessing thats why they wont fire up). Could be that it needs cleaning or its cause everything is too far gone. I would say alot of good parts to be saved and reused. Neither system has the door.
Feel free to make an offer for 1 or both of them or trade for them. ( Mari Bros / Duck Hunt NOT included ).
Im interested in Atari 8 bit items ( mostly) but would also consider a trade for : Atari 2600 carts, NES carts, SNES carts and Gameboy carts.

.69 Atari 2600 games in 2001. Got crazy climber in the day for that price. Long time ago
-
Yeah crazy prices and they don't sell. 120 for crystal castles 225 for karateka 90 for summer games. Even when the seller offers me off eBay 40% off the prices are still outta my range. There's a hand ful of carts ill pay over 100 for outside of prototypes. Just crazy. I hope this is a buyers market cause at those prices sellers won't like sitting on stuff and not making money.
I saw Mario bros on the xe label closed for 34.99 loose while another 2 are listed at 50.00 and 90.00.
They are rare and hard to find but the wallets aren't there for triple digit prices or really high two digit prices.
What is your take on that.

All lists I've seen say Atari inc. different brand to the normal Atari. Other Atari protos by b&c come up that way. Not sure why this and basic are list as Atari inc only.
-
That would be a sweet pair. What does the rest of the collection look like
-
Nice that's the harder of the two to get in my view

I got to play this game yesterday at the monthly NAVA meeting in NJ. Amazing doesnt start to describe the game. I love the game play the controls and the color on the barrels. The whole US and Japan settings and the difficulty settings are a nice touch. Im sold on this when its finally done.

Does anyone have a pic of what a dorsett board looks like or the chips look like so when I unscrew the back case I have something to compare it to. I won't be able to test it till I get home and ill be at work all night.
Any other brands use Atari 8 bit cases for their official releases??
Since I have a 14 day return if this isn't authentic I can return it for a refund. Wanna just find out what i have before I do a return.
Thanks for any help

I got this cart and the cart is an Atari brand cart instead of the brown cart. Under the dorsett label is an Atari brand label. Any ideas is this legit or a copy repro cleverly done. Any idea ideas dorsett any carts like this? Opinions??

Thought so figured I'd ask anyway

Mine would be one of three items.
1. Mogul Maniac in a Romox reprogrammable cartridge
2. Atari 1200XL system.
3. My two Atari Demo Cartridges. ( CXL4019 400/800 in store demo, RX8105 XE Demo Cart)
What I wish I had would be a legit prototype or 2.
