  1. I see this not working out for them. And if the used games sections dwindle away I see GameStop going the way of blockbusters. This would have us reverting back to how it was in the 70s and 80s shops selling new consoles and game stuff best buy sears toy stores etc.

Question is do you see GameStop with enough cash flow to stay afloat in the online only sector or store front sector of the market selling new games new consoles gift cards and new and used controller equipment. I think GameStop will go through a paradigm of being an online warehouse company with maybe stand alone sections in malls for returns and of course gift cards for. The systems and online purchasing.

  2. I have a spare XEGS that I was going to use for a project and that kinda put on the back burner. I have no use for it anymore. The system works well , but has a few cosmedic flaws at the back of the system ( grey plastic shell ) from where I was working on my project. But if you have the trimmings to make this a complete system ( RCA cables, controller a spare power pack , keyboard ) then you could have yourself a really nice system. Ive tested this system out to work fine with no problems.

Looking for $30.00 + Shipping ( From zipcode 07676 ) on the console or for a trade for Atari 8bit computer items. Which ever you would prefer to do. Let me know what you would like to do and we can talk it out from there. I prefer to let this go to a good home here than fight with ebay and the fees and all that mess.

  3. The Shell looks like a typical early case. The board Ive seen a few with that color board I think my collection houses a few of them. The reason I shy away from a prototype is because:

It doesnt have a window that would be used to erase the eeprom and to reuse the rom chip.

The fact that the chip is soldered to the board and not the type of setup that chips can be plugged in and pulled out easily. ( I have a pilot cart that has one of these chip quick disconnect setups). Still wouldnt say its a proto but would make it more realistic to be one if the programmers can plug and go with chips on the fly.

I like UZs idea of it being a review copy. That makes the most sense. Since it appears from the chip that its a final version not something that will be erased and reprogrammed. The chip setup backs up the idea of a final copy . I could be off but Im sure if Matt weighs in we can get a more definite answer

  4. Thanks for the overwhelming replies and offers. AS of today any future purchases will be on hold till I catch up on everything i have on order now. I appreciate everyone's willingness to help me aquire what i want for my collection and for my site. I hope I catch up soon to start the hunt again. I will update when I am ready to buy. Please keep in mind that this will be an active thread again for 8 bit want items. I will update this in the future with a bit more detailed list of what I need.

  5. You're right, ColecoFan1981, the 5200 version of Mario Bros. was never released on the 8-bits by Atari. To this day no prototype cartridge has been found, so it is unclear if Atari even started to port the game to the 8-bits.

The version Scooter83 refers to is an unofficial hack made by Glenn the 5200 Man.

I thought the original 8 bit program was model RX8051 which was a 5200 cross over. and then shelved and reprogrammed again and finally released RX8103 part number. I thought. :/
