  1. I just played this game. It is absolutely awesome! I too am amazed that this level of graphics could be on the 2600. I too agree that the first level is a bit tough for difficulty. But it is mostly because of the fireball. It is very tough to clear it on a jump. The barrels are pretty good-although it seems like you have to jump ahead of time to clear them. But the difficulty is fine for the barrels. Please keep up the great work on donkey kong! Now about those hammers...
  2. I know this topic hasn't been posted on since um, August 22, 2005... And I know there is the AWESOME Pac-man Collection (which I own and love), which includes Ms. Pac-man on it. But I'm curious if a dedicated separate Ms. Pac-Man will still be released later... Even if the gameplay were identical to the pac-man collection version, I think it would be neat to see a dedicated Ms. Pac-Man cartridge (with full box and manual etc.) Perhaps now that the super game module is released, maybe you would consider releasing an 'enhanced' ms. pac-man, or even include ms pac-man as a 'pack-in' game with a future Colecovision 2? I'd love to hear a status update, Eduardo
  3. If it came down to 'emulation/arcade accuracy' vs. 'keeping track of my score', I personally would choose accuracy. If even just to see if it helped improve the gameplay. Gameplay should come first, scorekeeping second. I have often played Donkey Kong, for example, just for the fun of it, with no interest in how high my score was.
  4. Scrolling donkey kong is a very unique and cool solution that you found also!
  5. Just a random thought...would the 'starpath supercharger' help any with making this game (to allow for more ram or whatever)? or another thought. What if you had 'disk 1, disk 2, disk 3, etc'... So that the first level of donkey kong=disk 1 Disk 2=second level Disk=cartridge of course Would that allow for better programming of donkey kong (if space is an issue)? Just brainstorming randomly.
  6. I am also anxiously awaiting Donkey Kong release! Tis gonna be fun
  7. Thanks for the replies. I guess colecovision does have a good amount of sections on Atariage
  8. I do notice those sections...but colecovision still seems missing from key places. A rarity guide and 'upcoming games'. On the top of this page, for instance, only the Atari consoles are listed as categories. Atari 2600|5200|7800|Linx|Jaguar|Forums|Store. It would be neat if Colecovision had a similar category. Perhaps they could even list it under 'Other', so that Colecovision could get the same style information as let's say Atari 2600.
  9. Would you consider officially adding Colecovision to the site. I know it isn't exactly "Atari", but I've really gotten into the system thanks to AWESOME homebrewers such as Eduardo Mello. It would be nice, for example, to see what games are planned to be released for Colecovision, and to look at rarities of colecovision. Frankly, I was not even much of a fan of Colecovision till some of these incredible homebrewers came along. Eduardo made the Colecovision Super Module, and is about to release many titles that will be virtually 'arcade perfect'. My love of Atari is still strong as ever...as a matter of fact my first console was Atari 5200. It would be nice to visit Atariage and get information pertaining to Colecovision. Sincerely, -Kaz
  10. The sound effects/voices in Bosconian were SO fun to listen to. My friend and I in high school used to play this game and others frequently in a 'battle of classic games'. He'd pick 5 of his 'best' and I'd pick my 5, and we'd sometimes play for money or w/e. Well point is, we'd often joke while playing Bosconian, rewording what we thought the voices were saying. "Spy ship sighted" we would always instead say "Apple Cider!" "Alert, Alert"=we thought sounded like-I lied, I lied And then of course when the game first starts...the game says: "BLAST OFF!", to which we thought sounded really hilarious. Sounded like a 'Censored' solitary activity people are known to do alone The other voice was: "Battle Stations", which actually sounded just like that.
  11. The fact people are voting in this poll at all indicates relative interest in the device and games imho. Compared to other polls ran on Atari age about various topics, how does this poll rank (for interest let's say)? Even tho I voted for Donkey Kong Jr., I'm interested in pretty much any mainstream type game (let's just say anything listed in mame as the 'golden age'.) I'm not as familiar with msx type games (except Gradius). I think Contra was another msx title. But some msx titles I have never played. Is it easier to 'port' an msx game to coleco than make a 'mame' game (dk, pac-man, dig-dug etc) for colecovision? Because the coding is already there? I'm just curious-plus I'm a newbie to this.
  12. @Shannon. Ya I guess I was using Z26. The stella version I have for xbox (classic) is version "2". I was trying to look for the date it was created-but couldn't figure it out (in the nfo file). I remember using Stella alot on windows. I attached the stella port I got here. stella_xbox_v2.zip
  13. I think Stella is my favorite emulator for Atari. I'm content if I just know how to run an emulator at all. I read this thread in awe since all the coding talk is WAY WAY over my head. I still find it facinating. The quest for 'perfect' emulation seems to be an awesome goal. My take is that different emulators approach 'perfection' from different angles. Nintendo emulators are often like this. One is good for 'perfect timing' but hog the resources, while another one is all about compatibility. z26 has always felt like the quick and dirty emulator, just click and go... Stella has a gigantic amount of options, so you can make the emulator do pretty much anything you want. So for the quest for 'perfection' I'd choose Stella. I also use the xbox port of stella. So if you stop developing for this, xbox emulation will suffer also. Having fun is also important, but consider this...when all the actual Atari 2600 hardware out there dies off (oxidation or whatever over the years), the only thing left will be emulators. Your work will be pivotal so that the technology is not 'forgotten'. 100 years from now when no actual Ataris work at all, your contribution will be all that's left of the very FIRST mainstream video game system. Isn't that the point of emulation ultimately...to preserve video games when hardware starts to fail? I hope a little bit of this is encouraging
  14. I voted for Donkey Kong Jr. but I have a few games I'd love to see: 1. Karate Champ (I pumped so many quarters into this game when I was younger), I even once played it all the way till the first screen repeated a second time through. 2. Kung Fu Master 3. Gyruss 4. Arcade perfect Jr. Pac-man and Super Pac-man I hope you don't mind me posting a 'wish list'
  15. I'm glad you are back, Curt! I'm really looking forward to your work on the 7800 expansion. I hope you are healthy-that should be first priority.
