  1. It's a development tool that actually plugs into the Atari 7800 that can make 2600 or 7800 games. Here's a link to an interview about it: http://www.gooddealgames.com/interviews/int_7800monitor.html Cousin Vinnie
  2. Harry, did you program Combat 1990 just with the Monitor Cart? Vin
  3. I just have to say this is an amazing device. I don't have two Star Raider keypads, so I can't really horse around with it until I find one more at a Flea Market somewhere. Looking over the massive documentation, I have been discouraged from programming the 7800's first Wrestling RPG Turned Based game by Q3 of this year, but I will give something a shot down the road. Though the device is truly awesome, and it is really cool to own documentation that Atari released to hobby programmers, I just have to wonder how practical the get up really is. Even if I knew 6502 (or whatever the number is) code like the back of my hand, it seems like an awfully clumsy way for people to be encouraged to program for the lazy Atari at that point. Is this how Harry programmed Combat 1990? If so, kudos. Soon I will have the High Score Cart and Curt's Keyboard to review for my site, so fans of the Froo-Froo can look forward to an "Peripheral Review" section on the site completed by the end of 2006. I also have an idea for a game... and it would be a dream of mine to actually have someone publish a 7800 game that I created at some point. Anyway, I'm pretty stoked to own this now... and also a little overwhelmed. Anybody else get any kicks out of theirs? Vinnie
  4. The trashcan is invincible as well. He is slow as hell and cant attack or jump tho. Vinnie
  5. This has made me happy times two. Lego Star Wars is my second favorite game of 2005... these additions mentioned in the article sound wonderous. Lego Star Wars 2 Cousin Vinnie
  6. I would have to say it feels a bit like a combination of Toy Commander for the DC and Animal Crossing. The enviroment reminds me of Toy Commander... the cuteness reminds me of Animal Crossing. There are puzzle, action, collection, and adventure elements to the game and it also has a backstory. Quite frankly I would have to say the game is great fun. Cousin Vinnie
  7. Top 25 is almost half of the games... and almost 2/3 of the playable games for the system, but here goes my top.... 12 1) Tower Toppler 2) Midnight Mutants 3) Alien Brigade 4) Ms. Pac Man 5) Ninja Golf 6) Basketbrawl 7) Planet Smashers Ikari Warriors 9) Commando 10) Desert Falcon 11) Xevious 12) Klax Cousin Vinnie
  8. Releasing the fire button could fire a round, this could be real cool if the tanks moved fast. Cousin Vinnie
  9. I haven't seen any screenshots besides the ones I put on my review, but the review does have a link to a gameplay video near the bottom of the page. CV
  10. Well, I know a 3 out of 5 rating probably doesn't sound like it, but I was really impressed with the game overall. I really never liked Combat when I was a kid, but I liked the chaotic gameplay for the new 7800 game. I can't imagine how hard it is to program for the 7800. I want to learn how to one day! I hope the review helps boosts sales, b/c people drop HUGE coin on a game like Tank Command that sucks, so an enjoyable new game for 40 bucks should be a no brainer. (Plus free shipping in the US) Cousin Vinnie
  11. After an hour or so with the new game on the block, Granny sunk her teeth into doing a review: http://flipsiderunner.com/7800/combat1990r.html Enjoy! Cousin Vinnie
  12. Don't ever ever play it then. I'd hate for it to kill your happiness Cousin Vinnie PS: Congrats!
  13. Finally got the friggin' thing. Review will be done ASAP. I like my name on the box... definite score booster Cousin Vinnie
  14. I havent got my copy yet... how long did it take you to get yours, Mitch? Cousin Vinnie
  15. "I never could figure out an actual game to make out of Tubes, so it's on indefinite hiatus. " - that's sucks, b/c I really liked that concept. LOL!!! And have you seen the label art Silver Surfer came up with for it? That is pretty sweet! You know that Combat 1990 is now out on a cartridge. Maybe talking to Harry or that Video 61 guy could help you get Frogger to where it needs to be! Cousin Vinnie
  16. Would the developers of these homebrews please mention whether or not they intend on releasing these games via cart. I'm about to do a 7800 homebrew article and I have lost track of who is doing what. Cousin Vinnie [email protected]
  17. I like Hat Trick and Double Dragon. I can understand the hatred for DD since it is not a good replica of the arcade (although its a good beat 'em up in its own right), but I don't understand why people hate on Hat Trick so much. I think it is a fine, little game. Anyone want to explain why they hate it? Cousin Vinnie
  18. That Tubes label is a winner Can anyone do a good Combat 1990? Cousin Vinnie
  19. Hey peeps, just wanted to let the lucky artists know that I have enshrined most of the 7800 label fake art that was posted over the months on the Froo-Froo: http://flipsiderunner.com/7800/labelfakes.html Congrats to all, and I hope you enjoy the honor of being on the site. If you do not wish to have your fakes on the site, tell me and I will remove them and then promptly mock you. Cousin Vinnie
  20. I have been corrected on a pronounciation of a word lately. After watching the Chronicles of Narnia, I now see that British folk pronounce Aslan's name: Aus-lawn instead of what I thought it was: Azz-lan I think my way is better b/c I don't think a Christ figure should have somethig in his name that sounds so close to "ass". CV
  21. Alright, finally ordered this thang. I'm pretty happy that my name will be on the box and cart. I'll review it ASAP. Cousin Vinnie
  22. Good poll question. I'd like to see a tweak or two for Fatal Run. It's almost good. Almost. More in-depth car combat would help the game out tremendously. Cousin Vinnie
  23. I want a computer! I heard they are "the wave of the future!" Vinnie
  24. As soon as I recieve it and play it enough, I'll do one for my site. Cousin Vinnie
