Congrats go out to the Atari 7800 newcomber, RJ, who pistol whipped our scores on the last day of the competition. RJ has been the Alien Brigade high scorer over at Froo-Froo's high score forum for a year now, so it made since that the champ came home to take the crown.

I wonder if there is a point difference with the light gun... that would seem like a program flaw to me. I'll figure it out tomorrow. But that's cool, you'll score will remain in tact either way.

I can't even get past the first level. I am shooting everything that shoots at me' date=' and nothing else, and I keep getting the "You have disregarded your commanding officer's orders..." screen.

Make sure you are not shooting the guys in the tan shirts, and especially the dudes running out of the hut. Do not shoot the rescue copter either.

PS: I think Water Ski sucks and Tank Command is terrible. So I like Water Ski more.

Man, SYD, TT, and MM are all games you need to give a few chances on. SYD kinda bored me at first, but it really gets better each level you complete. Check out the manual on this site for Midnight Mutants. It'll get you rollin.

Tower Toppler is my favorite game on the system...BTW.

[HSC Week 6- Alien Brigade]

Here's my score:

 

688,600

 

Weird thing is, when I killed the Mother Alien, my score was rolling past 699,000... and then it suddenly came back to the above score. Needless to say, I was taken aback.

 

Here's a few hints for my homies who care:

 

-Killing Hostages will SCREW you. There is a massive penalty for your mistakes. It's better to take a couple of bullets and make sure what you are shooting at is an alien than to waste it before you know for sure.

 

-Killing soldiers/aliens underwater net you HUGE points.

 

-For some strange reason, the white coal cars in the Mine level give massive bonus points when you shoot them.

 

-White snakes give good bonus points every time you shoot them.

 

Shoot: All dark green soldiers, white snakes, white coal cars, gray round things on the tracks, space ships, gray helicopters, tanks, water skiiers with the alien

 

Do Not Shoot: All tan soldiers, nurses, lab workers, mermaids, octopi, black dogs, green helicopters, water skiiers with the chick

[Did Fatal Run come out in the US?...]

Fatal Run is best played on the final 4 cities. 'Turtle' is the passcode. It shortenes the game up, makes it tougher since you have a basic car (lack of difficulty is an issue) instead of a rolling whirlwind of doom, and you get to see the cool ending w/o 2 hours of drool stored on the floor.

 

I think the game sucks... but for some reason I like it alot. I think the game captures the mood of an impending apocolypse very well.

You can play Alien Brigade with a joystick, by the way.

 

I like AB better than OW... but I'm a 7800 loyalist. I like the alien aspect to it.
