Definitely interested in two when they are available.

I have a 1050 that I have had for decades and I am wondering if there is something I can check, programmatically (peek) to tell me what upgrade may be installed (U.S. Doubler, Happy, etc?) so I do not have to take apart 30+ year old piece of working hardware? Thanks, T.E

Thanks. Got it working. I found an FT232 FTDI board in my parts box and wired it up with the SIO port and running updated and forked AspeQT from the forums. Working great.

I have never done a floppy dump to ATR and have a ton of floppies I would like to preserve. I have an SIO2BT and an Arduino based SIO2USB as well as two Rana 1000 drive, two 810s and a 1050 with a chip in it that expands the capability (not sure which one been too many years since I installed it). What is the best way to go about dumping my floppies to ATR with what I have available? The vast majority of the floppies are non-protected to copy protection will not be an issue but some are double density. I have an 800 (48k) and a 130xe available to use as the 'read' point. Thanks for any help T.E

Awesome new 3D printed case for the Atari Ultimate Cart
TheEditor replied to retango's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I am definitely interested in a version for the horizontal connector version of the Ultimate Cart. I have 400's, 800's and 130xe's so I dont think there would be any issue with it fitting the slots. I have two and have never found cases that I am happy with for them. -

Flashback Portable Speaker Mod?
TheEditor replied to bikeguychicago's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
8-bit sound is 8-bit sound no matter how good the technology behind it. -
I am using a 128mb Lexar in one unit and 128mb PNY in another, same ROMs on both. I has one unit and a friend has the other. No issue with it displaying the game list, 98 pages but it does not show them alphabetically which is odd. I may format the card and reload it as I had games in the folder then added more.

Here are pictures of the Atari Flashback Portable internals. The only thing I wonder is what could be hiding under the black blob?? Core ROM maybe? Note: Demarcation on the mat in the background is 1" for reference. Excuse the reflection of my smartphone on the screen.

eclaire XL P.C.B. aka "Atari on FPGA project"
TheEditor replied to santosp's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Santos, Once again, you have my interest. I will be watching developments carefully on this. Also consider adding Montezuma's Bluetooth capability to it -
From my testing the Profiles do not save all the settings you setup for a specific architecture. I will need to investigate it further.

So I did some more digging regarding my above post and found there is a /portablealt: switch. I created an alternate INI file for The Writer's Tool config that lauches Altirra for that purpose with the correct mapped ATR file and cartridge as a 130XE stock. While this is neat and works have an associated file type as I mention above would be pretty sweet. T.E

In this test version, or the next version, of Altirra would it be possible to have something similar to a Save State but more like a Save Machine. This would save all the setting on a bootable environment (carts, drive assignments, ram, os, etc) and could be associated with Altirra. Once saved it could be double clicked and the settings brought into Altirra and the 'machine' booted. This would be similar to using real hardware and inserting a cart, a disk and turning on the power. As an example if I have a machine setup as follows allow it to be save in a non-run state so it boots when run: Machine: 130xe OS: XL/XE OS ROM selected in the menu BASIC: selection Cart: in this case The Writer's Tool which is assigned as an OSS 034M type RAM: 128k Disk1: The Writer's Tool Extension Disk Disk2: data disk also saving all other setting like video, audio, CPU option, etc. Having this would allow you to collect 'bootable' states instead of actual running states (Save State) which do not save all the setting from what I can tell. Thoughts? T.E

I was thinking of being able to have the SpartaDOSx cart and Panos 5-in-1 language cart plugged in for simultaneous use and not stacked across the back of the desk.
-
Is it possible to have three possible selections? Left cart, left cart and left/right cart. If you understand my meaning?
-
I think you are right BillC. I seem to remember a friend having the SDX cart with BASICXL one port and the RTime8 on the other. I would love to see someone remake this board and have both slots usable at once or selectively.
