  1. I have the SIO2PC set at the 1x speed. I ahve the SIO2BT working on the same 130XE so it is odd the SIO2PC is not.
  2. I will try the new SWAP file tonight with The Writer's Tool and my XE and report back.
  3. Using thhe SIO2PC (via USB as COM3) I built with my Arduino running ASPEqt or Atari810 under Windows. Runs prefectly with the 800, only has issues with the 130XE.
  4. Not a new 130Xe user as I had one back in the day. I did some extensive testing with my 130Xe and my 800 and determined the following: SIO2PC to 800, works fine all the time using RI, CTS or DTR SIO2PC to 130xe, boots with any disk using RI, CTS or DTR but keyboard is locked up once booted even into just DOS 2.0 SIO2BT to 130xe, works fine all the time. The SIO2PC device I am using is one I built with an Arduino and the fact that it works perfectly on the 800 without issues is strange to say the least. The SIO2BT device has only been tested on the 130xe as I do not have a way to burn a new ROM for the 800, yet. 130xe passes all self tests and works great with everything I have booted otherwise.
  5. Did quite a bit of testing last night and so far about the only thing I cannot get to work is The Writer's Tool.
  6. I have to say I am completely impressed with this device. I had an old Android phone I was going to just throw out as I had no use and it has no value. Now it is an SIO device for my 130XE. Completely awesome device.
  7. I spoke with the guy I bought the gear from and he is going to look for the RANA button bar as it is missing on the drive, but the drive appears to function without it. Anyone know where I can get a replacement? On a second note. I have and SIO2PC device I built which works on my 800 but on my 130XE it boots and then the keyboard is locked up. Anyone have thoughts on this?
  8. Further investigation of the RANA drive I found the whole key thing on the front is missing. I called the seller to attempt to locate it so I can so final tests on the drive. If nothing else it appears it may be good for parts. The 810 works great.
  9. Well, it turns out the guy didnt know what he had, he thought the 810 was something that had RAM in it and thought it was an 800. Everything works and also got a tons of disks. The 810 in missing the back panel label where the connectors are and the Rana is missing the from label where the buttons are but other than that it all works. I also eneded up with a pair of atari joysticks. I am considering selling working 810 with cables working RANA with cables working 850 with cables including a parallel cable to centroics working Atari joysticks I also have two 400's wiith power supplies, RAM upgrades and real keyboards that I need to test and see if they are working. If so they may be for sale also.
  10. I have a oppurtunity to buy the following for today for about a hundred bucks. 130xe, working with power supply 810, working with all cables Rana 1000, working with all cables 850, working with all cables 800, working but no RAM, with all cables Paddles, working Wico Red Bat Handle joystick, working I have no use for some of the gear. I am thinking it is worth the price just to sell off some of it. Thoughts? Good deal?
  11. Outstanding interview. I hope he will do another one in the future as his stories are part of the history of the computer/home computer industry.
  12. Awesome to see someone update this version of the emulator. I would love to see Altirra compiled to work on the Android.
  13. Not sure if it will help but I found quite a bit of info on the ATR8000 on this page, http://blog.3b2.sk/igi/post/ATR-8000.aspx There is also a link for schematics, I have not looked yet to see how indepth they may be.
  14. No offense to FJC but could the two of you take the pissing match private. I come here to see updates about the GUI not people acting like children. I am sure I am not the only one thinking it. The project is amazing in that it is being written on technology from 30 years ago so give it it's due. If you don't like it, great that is your right. If you think you can do better do it. Put up or shut up as they say. I personally can't wait for the release as it is amazing what is being squeezed out of the technology. Flame responses to this post will be ignored, so don't bother. /steps off soapbox
  15. "a lot of those damn fakes don't work properly and FTDI has to deal with RMAs" That seems like FTDI's issue really. If they are providing RMA's for products that are not of their manufacture then they are at fault for that not anyone else. If would be like Samsung taking an RMA for an iPhone. Most companies ask for proof of purchase on a return/RMA, no proof no RMA, pretty simple.
  16. "it's still not right to "damage" people's equipment as revenge" Therein lies the liability for FTDI. Imagine if, unknowningly, a lifesaving or life monitoring device purchased be a hospital contained a counterfeit chip. Most things run on Windows now and lets say the drivers gets updated and the device get bricked, someone dies from FTDI's actions. I am sure the judge will not look at them and say 'well you IP was at stake so we will just let you slide' the judge would allow any amount of damages requested against them to be awarded and FTDI would be no more, of their owe fault I might add. FTDI really needs to rethink what they are doing or hire someone who thinks beyond their three martini lunch.
  17. I have an Arduino, real one not the cheap ebay knockoff, and I am pretty sure it has the real FTDI on it but I am going to check when I get home tonight. I use it as an SIO2PC device and I am adding SIO2SD to it and investigating the addition of ethernet connectivity to get three functions in one device. If I find my Arduino is either using a counterfiet FTDI or it gets bricked you can be sure I will raise hell about it.
  18. Isn't this similar to a copy protection that was used some years ago that destroyed the first floppy of the disk set at the end if the installation? I believe that was ultimately found to be an illegal practice. If the vendor wants to protect their IP that is fine but malicious destruction of property will ultimately get them sued and would definitely make me think twice about doing business with the company.
  19. Can anyone who has purchase this cart tell me it if is compatible with some of the popular addons and mods like Incognito (800), Utlimate (XE), SIDE2, etc?
  20. I had a similar thought using the serial interface on an Arduino and the ethernet or wifi card attached to it. I have an Arduino which I use as SIO2PC connector and have slowly been working on adding SIO2SD to the same device. There are daughter cards for the Arduino that contain SD and WiFi/Ethernet so it probably wouldn't be too hard. Having a single device to handl SIO2PC, SIO2SD and SIO2WiFi/Ethernet is the ultimate goal. Using the Arduino mean no addition chip-based hardware is needed as the Arduino contains all the RS232-TTL-Programmable logic onboard.
  21. I don't really need credit either as all I did was suggest games to add. I think the program should carry a special dedication or mention of Mclane's daughter in hope of a speedy recovery and good health for the future as he has done so much for the project.
  22. The Google Drive where the downloads are stored has exceeded the download limit. You may want to drop the downloads on to Media Fire or something.
  23. All Atari User, Antic, Analog and others in PDF format are on Atari Mania
