  1. oh man, those are some good finds, I get lucky rather often with the fact most of the thirft stores around here only have the book resellers living at them(but Iv still managed to get signed 1st editions of red wall books, and many more), and although its a little underhanded, I use to be roommates with backroom people in two different value villages, so while they don't make things cheap for me, I do get calls when stuff comes in.
  2. I have an old phatty with a fliptop swapmagic mod on it, let me dig it out and make sure it still works for you. worked before I packed it up.
  3. oh man, those look great, was checking over there forum and couldn't find anything other then some modded CD cases and clips installed, which Ill make for the time being, but thanks for the link, have to order some nice sleeves.
  4. as topic says, I need some TG-16 game cases, I still have the games, but lost the cases as a child and would like to have them not just sitting on my shelf anymore, looking for 3, but will take what I can, thanks.
  5. From my local thrift stores, mostly from 3 different value villages over the last 3-4 days.
  6. I remember reading about this some years ago, found the old article, here is the info from it summarized: Nintendo of America Inc. Casey Ludwig - "The Super NES, as well as our other systems, are made with a plastic containing flame-retardant chemicals to meet safety guidelines. Over time, the plastic will age and discolor both because of these chemicals as well as from the normal heat generated from the product or exposure to light. Because of the light color of the plastic of the SNES and NES, this discoloration is more easily seen than with other darker plastics such as on the N64 and the Nintendo GameCube." Dr. Rudolph D. Deanin, founder of the graduate program in Plastics Engineering at the University of Massachusetts - "The plastics most commonly used to make the structural cases for electronic equipment are polypropylene, impact styrene, and ABS," replied Deanin. "These all tend to discolor and embrittle gradually when exposed to UV and/or heat. They become oxidized and develop conjugated unsaturation, which produces color. They crosslink or degrade, which causes brittleness." From looking at a stamp on the Super Nintendo's plastic case, I learned that the case is composed of ABS, which is a rugged, durable plastic that is sadly more susceptible to discoloration and degradation from both UV and heat than the alternatives. It goes into a lot of science I wont bother with, but ends with this: Repair & Restoration Methods: Leave It Alone - In the world of antique furniture, collectors most often desire an aged look. Stripping chipped paint, polishing corroded copper, or filling in scratches considerably lessens the value of the item because such "defects" show how old it is. Collectors of the future may appreciate discolored plastic for that exact reason. Magic Erasers (melamine foam) - Great for surface dirt. Good for very light surface discoloration, but it will rub off painted logos and subtle textures like an abrasive. Sandpaper - Scrape your way to fresh plastic underneath. Not recommended for historical purists or console rights activists. Paint - Cover up that ugly yellowed plastic and turn your SNES into a shiny ode to Heinz ketchup. Bleach - I've had very limited success with letting bleach sit on Macintosh cases. When it does work, it's difficult to get a uniform effect unless you can soak the whole piece in bleach equally. This probably damages the structure of the plastic and might cause another type of yellowing — so beware! Acetone - Many people have mentioned acetone as a good way to clean off some plastic yellowing. The only reason this might work is because most plastics dissolve in acetone. If you use this method, be aware that you're doing damage to the plastic — you're wiping it away. Hydrogen Peroxide (Added 02/22/2009) - In the last year or so, a new method of reversing yellowing has cropped up in some corners of the net that involves hydrogen peroxide in high concentrations (10%-15%) and exposure to UV light. If other people's experiences are any indication, this process seems to work if applied properly. But remember that even if discoloration is reduced, your cases will yellow again some day unless coated with an oxygen-proof sealant after treatment. Be warned: hydrogen peroxide in high concentrations is very dangerous (it can blind you and burn your skin), and this method can cause permanent damage to plastic if done improperly. Despite numerous demonstrations of this technique and a seemingly sound theory behind it, the jury is still out on whether this method harms plastics or color pigmentation in the long-term. Be that as it may, this technique is currently the best, least-destructive method we have of reducing yellowing in ABS plastics. Hope this is somewhat useful. 7. I had this happen on my first gen 80gig a few months back, it was a overheating problem indeed, took it to my local game shop and they used a heat gun to flatten my motherboard and reapply silver to all the cpus, took around a week and has been working great ever since.

  9. bought a Laserscope in box from him, shipping was fast and was packed insanly well, would buy from again.
  10. I know how you feel about frames bro, I have most of my stuff framed these days, and it hurts to spend more on a nice frame then it does on the print or poster inside of it, but if you watch for deals, a lot of art supply stores offer coupons on there websites, coupled with in store sales can land huge savings, I have around 15 framed 24x36" prints that ran around 30$ a piece, not to mention a handful of other sizes, but with coupons and in store sales, I got most of them at my local target for less then half of that. If I were to do a projector Id invest in a screen rather then using a wall, any slight off coloring on the wall can really reflect in the games colors in a negative way, plus then you don't have to leave walls blank, but Id agree with your ladder choice of replacing the TV when it goes as you'll get better picture and not have to play in total blackness to get the best look.
  11. Holy crap man, I love your walls the most, games and systems look great, and dig the collection of Atari boxes, but my GOD, those walls, you made perfect use of every inch, the arcade marquees where there wasn't room for posters is something I hadn't though of, I don't see why I didn't, but I didn't, LOVE IT. I'm honestly not as large an Atari fan as most here, maybe my age, maybe not, but I will say early age arcade marquees were THE BEST, and have got to get a few for my living room. Your collection is really inspirational thank you for sharing.
  12. it looks great, the blank walls make me a little sad though, where is all the art.
  13. very nice collection, did you update your Atari with a Nes RF switch, what was broken on it? I only just got my copy of pitfall a few days ago from a thrift store, paid 4$ for it, which is a bit more then I generally do for a thrift store cart, but its pitfall, lol
  14. oh man, thanks for sharing, so many memory's, especially that Darkwing Duck box, I need to put that on my list of games to finally beat, I remember getting to the end boss(Negaduck) so many times, but never beating him.
  15. Updated with Games with my peripherals, hope you enjoy, Id say I got 75% of them from thrift stores over the last 3 years, that goes for systems too.
  16. Thanks, Im still collecting pics of my games, don't have a lot of room to lay them all out with all the kids stuff around, but look what I got from the thrift store today for a total of 10$
  17. PERIPHERALS GAMES, This is just what I could find to take pictures of so far, more boxes around here somewhere. Games of interest in collection(IMO) are: UK Monster Hunter Demo set, Silent Hill Beta, Centipede for Colecovision still Shrik Wrapped, Im sure others I forgot or other people think are cooler then I do. lol.
  18. Iv only been an active collector for around 3 years now, though Iv been a gamer all my life, Ill start with my current collection of systems and boxed systems, and cooler peripherals, a few are missing but hoping to get them back soon to take pictures of, I don't have a very good photo collection of my games so those may take a few days to get out and photographed, but here I go. -If a system is shown out of box, its a different one then the one inside the box. EDIT: Note - The PS1 covered in the anime stickers was my personal PS1-1001 I had in middle and high school, it doesn't run anymore, but I cant let it go and wont repair it, it lived a good long life and deserves is rest.
