Broke my eyeglasses the other day, and I've been wearing a 4-5 year old prescription backup pair. Getting in this afternoon to the eye doctor for an exam, and get some new glasses. I'm 44 and still not on bifocals yet, I keep expecting to have to switch to that sometime soon.

If you know your prescription (or can get it from your doctor), you can get very inexpensive glasses from Zenni Optical: https://www.zennioptical.com/

I am 47, no bifocals yet. It's starting to get hard to read small print within arm's length. I think I may just get a pair of reading glasses at Walgreen's to take care of up close stuff.
I got glasses 4 years ago from the local discount optical place near the mall. 2 pairs for $99, but I had to pay an extra 100 to get the thinner lenses or else the lenses would've been fat due to my astigmatism. I like their choice of frames -- basic timeless designs. I bought 2 of the same frame.
