  1. I don't think its awesome, but IMO, it's got pretty good gameplay. I've never really understood the slamming that this game recieves. I don't play it all the time, but I think the two Ninja's and Chagi the Kickboxer are pretty good fighters to use. Gameplay wise, I think this plays great, and I have no problem pulling off moves at all. I can understand the complaints against the other characters in the game though, I mean some of them are just too ridiculous to use, including Groundskeeper Willy, and Thundra. Ultra Vortek just kills this game though.
  2. The BIN was 29.99, and of course some noob gets on and bids the minimum bid of 24.99...
  3. Excellent choice. Now you can enjoy the best arcade ports around, and with that Trak-ball to boot. Welcome to enlightenment.
  4. I'll have to say Warlords as well, it can't be stopped!! Also, Video Olympics is 4 player compatible, I'm suprised you 2600 gurus haven't said that one yet.
  5. I definitely know what your getting at, as I can already tell that I will face that later on. But hey, look how many games use this technique these days. Any 3-d platform game, like Banjo Kazooie, and even Grand Theft Auto 3 uses the same method to accomplish goals. You go back and forth, back and forth, over and over the same territory to find items. I haven't gotten very far yet, so I haven't encountered that problem too much, but if it gets too bothersome, I can do an updated review of the game. But so far, this game shows some promise! @Sauron: It's nice to see someone dislike a Jaguar game based on gameplay, and not on an anti-Jag bias
  6. Ok, this is a fairly new addition to my collection, and I've just had a chance to play it for a couple of hours. I like the premise of being in a computer, kinda like Tron, and the environments are pretty cool I think, you get walls that have silicon chip textures and stuff. Most of the graphics are quite simple I guess, but it works for me. I'm a sucker for sled games anyway, I've always liked Sled Storm and Assault Rigs, so I'm going to be a little lenient with my critisism of I-War, compared to other people probably. It has a pretty good soundtrack, with some tunes almost sounding reminiscent of Tempest 2000, which is a good thing. The control is tight and responsive, and your sled turns and moves fast, which is another plus. The game has 5 different camera angles, but seriously, the first person view is the only workable one. 3rd person camera views on most Jag 3-d games just don't work, note Club Drive as the worst offender. The action is fast paced with plenty of enemies to kill, and it has a good assortment of enemies to boot. Firepower isn't a problem in this game either, I find the assortment of weapons to be adequate, and your main laser is a fine piece of equipment once powered up. One flaw is that you can't strafe, this causes you to take alot of damage while shooting baddies. Another flaw is the camera views, they suck, except for the first person view where the game plays rock solid. The control on the bonus stages is nothing like the control during regular stages, it's alot harder to control your ship in the bonus rounds, since your flying or something. All in all this is a good addition to my collection, and I'm gonna leave this one in the Jag for awhile I think. I'd like to try the 2-player mode, but most of my friends think Jag games suck, and just shrug it off when they see it. How is the 2-player mode? Does it run good, and is it fun?
  7. I'm not going to bump anyone who had first dibs on this stuff. After changing the payment terms to Money Order only, the least I can do is give people a couple of days to either tell me no deal, or to get a Money Order in the mail.
  8. Look people, I'm having trouble with my Paypal Account. It looks like these games will have to be paid for with Money Order ONLY until I fix the problem, which won't be soon. Sorry for any inconvenience.
  9. PM's responded too. whew...this stuff is hot hot. Some stuff is on hold, I will wait until tomorrow to update again. I need to sleep.

  11. Yes! Exactly, if you want to live a little piece of these great movies, then Jag AvP will do that for you, and for its time was one of very few movie translations that made a great game. I mean, movie games up to that point consisted of Last Action Hero and Back to the Future II and III. Yawn. I see people complain about the level design of AvP, and how its no better than Wolfenstein 3D, but thats just not true. Yeah sure there are tons of right angles, but I like how the designers used actual features from Aliens to mask the walls. Like how they use that slime, tubing stuff to cover over what would normally be just a plain wall. Not only does it help cover up the blockiness of the level design, but it has a direct reference to the movie! The level design is much better than Wolf 3D guys come on, I mean you have a Marine space station, with 2 spacecraft attached to it. And you have Airlocks(movie reference), along with other tie ins like the Airduct system. It seems like everything in this game has a direct link to one of the films, I can't think of any movie-based game PRE-AvP, that had this kind of detail and was as directly related to its movie counterpart, and not to mention still be fun.
  12. Uh...your not going to find many 2-player simultaneous games. Besides the ones you listed, Mario Bros. is the only other one I could think of that supports that. Oh, and some of the sports games I guess, but I don't much care for any of those, but thats just me, I know some people really like Realsports Football and Baseball.
  13. I agree with jsoper, if you have some money to spend, and you don't have alot of games right now, you should consider buying up one of many available game lots on Ebay. If you want to try your luck in the wild, try searching at your local Goodwill stores, or Salvation Army. Also hit garage sales, and Pawn shops. Don't forget to ask everyone you come into contact with, be it at work, or family members, make sure to ask them if they have any old Atari stuff they don't want anymore, you'd be amazed at what people have sitting around their homes collecting dust. I've got my best scores from coworkers and family members!
  14. I'll second that. I believe E.T. to be a fair game, and anyone here could easily pick out a few hundred other 2600 games that are worse than ET. I managed to find some enjoyment with the game, as it's plot isn't completely pointless, and actually relates to the film very well. I find the game to be quite challenging on the hardest setting, what with the scientist and FBI agent coming after you nonstop. It's not great by any means, but I've had more fun with ET as a child than with many, many other 2600 bombs.
  15. I would first recommend getting a Trak-ball, and Centipede, Missile Command to experience a true arcade feel right at home. You can't go wrong with those. I know you don't want games that you have on the 2600, but you know what, the 5200 versions are almost always better, and for the cheap price of most 5200 titles, you really can't go wrong. I gotta recommend these: -Jungle Hunt -Gyruss---awesome music, the best I've heard on the system, and better than anything the 7800 can do. Gameplay is not too shabby either -Defender -Robotron:2084...like the other guy said, with the Joystick coupler this rocks! -Space Dungeon---another game that uses the coupler, and a very unique game, not to mention a 5200 exclusive(I think). Lots of shootin in this one. -Countermeasure -Galaxian..this one is so sweet on 5200, I actually like the sound f/x, but besides that, the gameplay is awesome and the analog stick works great with this one. I could go on and on, the 5200 has so many great titles, the system has the best good-games-to-bad-games ratio I've seen yet. Not a whole lot of stinkers and most of the games are very common and cheap.
  16. I was sifting thru EGM 64, and I found something truly telling of EGMs position on Atari and the Jaguar. I already said that the AvP review got a score of 6,7,5,5...reviewed by four guys. Well, Shaq-Fu for the SNES, in the same issue, scores a 6,5,5,4! Only slightly less than AvP??? AvP is only slightly better than Shaq-Fu. Now, from my experience, every single Worst-Games-Of-All-Times lists, including one mini list included in EGMs very own issues, lists Shaq-Fu as one of the very worst games ever made!!! Yet is scores almost equally to AvP, which is touted as one of the best Jag games out there, and rightfully so. How the hell was EGM not being paid off to give good reviews for certain companies and slam others? Here's a sentence from one of the reviews for Shaq-Fu..."Shaq-Fu is far too difficult to play for it to be enjoyable". And this guy scored the game at 6! ,after telling how its impossible for it to be enjoyable. I'm dumbfounded at these EGM fools. Maybe EGM wasn't paid to slam the Jag, but instead it was Atari who chose not to pay EGM to praise them, much like developers for other systems obviously did, and then eventually others went on to do. That just makes me respect the Jag a little more, seeing now what kind of obstacles even the press put in its way.
  17. I think the two reviews that exemplify this the most are the ones for Doom and AvP. Unfortunately, I can't find EGM's review of AvP anywhere online, but all of the reviewers' comments reeked of having only played for 5 minutes, and only that long so that they could find something to bitch about. The Doom review, however, can be found here, thanks to the Atari Times website. This should stand as an eternal pockmark on the ass of video gaming journalism. This also explains why I will never buy another issue of EGM, a boycott I've held for many years now. Yes, EGM reviewers got hard-ons from trash talking the Jaguar. I believe they were paid to do so. As quoted from EGM #64, AvP review: "I'm a big fan of both the Alien and the Predator movies, and this game's graphics are good enough to put you right into the game. Unfortunately, the game play was not very well thought out. You almost always take a hit when fighting, and you can't jump over acid. Why do the Aliens leave all the bodies around? That's not like them. Where's the music? Is it an option I missed? It's okay as far as I'm concerned." Hmm..gameplay not thought out? The game sucks because Aliens don't pick up all the dead and carry them back to the ship? Did they even play for more than 5 minutes? There's plenty of people cocooned in the Alien ship. And yes, theres the staple of all EGM reviews, another complaint about lack of music. This reviewer was so shallow, he can't even realize the game was designed this way on purpose, he just wants to slam the Jag. The game was reviewed by four people, scoring 6,7,5,5. Thats a fair score for AvP? I think not.
  18. Well, Rayman on PS1 offers absolutely no improvements on the Jaguar ORIGINAL, unless load times is considered an improvement. Graphically both games are virtually identical, and it takes alot of careful up-close viewing to notice the differences. Jaguar Rayman is superior because a) it is the first, and b)it has cartridge save and no load times. A Playstation ripoff of Jaguar technology. Tempest 2000 compared to Tempest x3...phh. Owned both, and I can tell you from experience of OWNING both that T2000 is the better game. Tempest x3 is a cheap copy of the original Jaguar classic, with no meltovision, and a crummy AI droid. Stupid AI droid is more like it. It's usually desperation when someone has to try their hardest to slam the Jags best games. People go to the greatest lengths to try and convince others that the Jag doesn't offer anything spectacular. Tempest X3, yet another ripoff of Jaguar technology. NBA JAM on Jaguar has cartridge save, something the PSX does not, and the graphics of the Jaguar version are just as good as the PSX version, and the Jag version was first, leaving the PSX version yet another ripoff of Jag technology. NBA JAM appeared on everything, but the Jaguar version was the first version to actually look like the arcade game, whereas the earlier versions on Genesis and SNES, while playing well, didn't look like the arcade. Flashback..I have the Genesis and Jaguar versions, and from what I can tell, there's not any improvements over the Genesis version here, but still a very good game. If I was able to play these side by side maybe I could see graphical differences, but I haven't played these enough to spot them. Dragon. Not a very good game, but a graphical improvement over the SNES version.
  19. No, AvP is most definitely a worthy purchase. There's more to the game than just FPS gameplay, which is slow in the Marine game. However for its time, I thought the game was out of this world, both in terms of graphics and innovation. I mean you don't just get your standard FPS with a single storyline, but multiple storylines with different characters, who all have many different attacks and attributes. You don't even get that today. And if you like the movies and comic books this game is based on, then its an even better experience because you get to live in those worlds while you play. The Predator mission is easy, but you get to experiment with all of his different visual modes, and that cool Plasma Cannon from the movie. Just the same the Marine mission has all the weapons from Aliens represented, along with familiar locations such as Medlab. The game is very faithful to the spirit of the films and comic books. If you go from playing Doom on Jaguar, to playing AvP you really notice how much slower your character in AvP is, but once you accustom yourself to the gameplay after a few minutes, you'll get used to it. This is an exciting game and still one of the Jags premier games.
  20. Glad you like it. I think the music kicks ass too, as well as the graphics. I'm not very good at it though, I have to cheat to win, some of those bosses are impossible I swear. I've only ever beat Wolf3D with God mode, I'm ashamed to say.
  21. Cruisn' N64 isn't horrible, but it does not stack up to the Arcade version, and as mentioned, it doesn't stack up to other N64 racers. If you don't have any racers on N64, its' just my opinion, but I wouldn't recommend Cruisn' as a top priority. The N64 is a great system if you enjoy Racers, from Arcade to Simulation, its got a fantastic selection. I haven't tried Cruisn' Exotica, or World so maybe someone could give us the lowdown on how these turned out on N64?
  22. Cruis'n did not turn out well on N64. It is an awesome Arcade series, but the big N just couldn't get it right at home. I would recommend the San Fransisco Rush series on N64 for a better Arcade racer, these games really shine on N64, especially Rush 2049. The first thing I noticed about Cruisn N64 was the lame backgrounds. They're stagnant or something, they don't scroll around like the Arcade version. The colors, and the sound f/x are pretty close, but seriously, its not even close to the experience of the Arcade version. Weird too, because you think Nintendo would have been able to make these games way better, especially since Cruisn' was the game shown to the public on the ULTRA 64 hardware early on, so it was in development for a long ass time.
  23. I'm not real good at Star Raiders, but it's one of my favorites on 5200. I usually play Pilot skill level and consistently can nail an Ace, which is about mediocre. This isn't a game where I strive to do exceedingly well at, I just rather enjoy the immersive experience of it more than anything. There's so much you can do in this game that just will completely envelope you in it. First of all, the first person view is great, along with the option to look fore and aft of the ship. I just love how you can track an enemy behind you and see it whiz by, then you switch to fore view and line it up in the crosshairs! The zylons can be rather tricky as well, they don't seem to be just numbed AI, but rather quick little suckers who can actually dodge a shot or two. I tried to line up for a refuel on a starbase once, and a zylon shot it while I was closing in! Thats smart for old AI. What can I say about the sound f/x? Some people think its cheesy but I think its perhaps the games' best feature. The sound of the engines increases with each factor, the sound of the photons is fantastic, and the sound of hyperspacing just takes the cake! I originally played this first on 2600, and wasn't terribly impressed as a young man. However, when playing the 5200 version I gained all new respect for the game, due to the sheer amount of options this version has. Each key on the keypad has a Dual function? Best use of the keypad ever.
  24. Hey bizdude, thanks for that great pic. I read that thread you supplied and I had to laugh at your post where you state that you asked vglq if the game contained a box and they replied "it is new and unopened". It's like how a politician answers a direct question, they give you an answer that doesn't solve anything.
  25. Is Braindead 13 available with a box? Or is it just available Jewel Case style like vglq sells? If it has a box, I'm gonna assume it must be fairly rare since I never see it for sale.
