  1. Nah, I'll complain right here. Just making sure gamers know what they are getting.
  2. I understand the 'reasons', but the fact is that A1UP is not disclosing that BLITZ is heavily censored. People remember these games a certain way. Yeah, I'm sure there's tons of fans that are excited and will buy the game, but with incomplete knowledge beforehand. Blitz wouldn't have been the success it was if it wasn't for the violent tackles and especially the pile-on tackles. And stop with telling us on every complaint that our complaints don't matter.
  3. A1UP sure didn't advertise the Blitz package was censored: https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2022/08/nfl-blitz-arcade-games-will-relaunch-as-arcade1up-cabinet-exclusive/
  4. I agree with you on this, and I think the forums could use a bit of organizing in their order. However, I'm not surprised at the lack of Arcade talk because like most gamers, Arcade enthusiasts are separated from console gamers, they don't seem to mix well (don't know how else to put it). I know Arcade gamers have their own forums or use to anyway.
  5. There have been Nintendo dedicated rivals to Atari Age in the past, such as Nintendo Age, but they floundered after being bought out IIRC. The internet has spoken, and Atari is the classic platform of choice for discussions. Keep in mind too that all these subforums didn't always exist. All the non Atari stuff was all mixed together and had to be separated 'by hand' . Just saying that thread counts don't necessarily reflect all the discussions of any one platform here.
  6. The reason I don't store the controllers in there is because I found it bad for the cables, in the long run.
  7. Yeah, I had that issue, but I re-ignored them and haven't been seeing their posts, but I haven't been here very much either. So, I don't know if I truly solved it or not.
  8. OK, an update. They begged me to try the mobile hotspot again, and claimed there was an update waiting for me. So, OK, I got home attempted my DSL router first, again no success. Tried the Mobile Hotspot, and after a few attempts almost gave up, and then like the 5th try of 'check for update' it finally started downloading a new update. I can now use the online features, but there are still some quirks. Every time I boot up the cabinet, I have to turn OFF then ON the WIFI adapter, otherwise it just says not connected 'obtaining IP address' continuously. But, if I turn the wifi adaptor off/on it connects automatically and I'm good to go. It also is working online with my DSL service, which it wouldn't before. The leaderboards are active, and I can see the online lobbies. It looks like it's all working. Also, I'm still not able to save high scores locally, and haven't received any correspondence about that yet. I haven't had any time to play seriously so I don't know if I'll even be able to register on the leaderboards if it's not saving my scores. Or do I have to play online games to get on the leaderboards? I just don't know, and the manual doesn't say anything about it. I guess I'll have to wait until I have time to actually play.
  9. Arcade 1UP still giving me the runaround on my faulty Yoga Flame. I'm not able to use any of the online features, and it's also not saving any of my scores, even locally. I can't update the machine, nor do anything requiring online, despite the device being connected to my router. Their solution for the 3rd time? Reset the network settings again, also try a mobile hotspot again and update the unit, then get back with them if there's any problems. Uh, I can't update the unit! It's like they don't even read the fucking emails, I swear I'm talking to a robot. How am I supposed to resolve this problem when they don't even act like they are comprehending our correspondence? I've even sent them pictures of the error screens the cab gives me, with very detailed step by step for them to easily understand. They have no way to contact a live person on the phone OF COURSE! The real bummer is that it's not saving my high scores, so there's almost no reason to play this cabinet right now.
  10. Just says 3 in 1 Games, so probably Blitz, Blitz 2000, and Blitz 2001 just guessing. Hard pass on this one.
  11. I think there is something seriously wrong with my Yoga Flame cab, about the wifi. I have it connected to the router with good signal strength, but none of the online features are working. No leaderboards, no online play, and I can't even register the unit. I can't interact online with it at all, and A1UP is being boneheaded so far about helping me. The only thing I can get it to do is connect to the router, otherwise, nada.
  12. Put together my Yoga Flame edition. This cab had a few more supports in the design. Such as a few extra planks on the interior for bracing. This also has height extenders like the T2 cab, giving this unit about 3-4 extra inches above the other Legacy cabs. It's about the same height as the Outrun cabinet (w/riser). The control panel is way better, as it's angled down, plus it's wider. It feels very comfortable playing this cabinet, even without a stool to sit on, it has a naturally good height for the screen and controls for a guy my size. Also, the joysticks come with 4-way gates, but A1UP provides you with a set of 8-way gates and instructions on how to install them. Way cool! I have yet to play anything online. While I was initially able to connect online and see the leaderboards yesterday, all day today the network seems to not be working at all. I'm not sure if it's my cab itself, or if the A1UP network is screwed up. I suppose I should email them about it. It appears though that you can play all 14 games online with other people, not just the Street Fighter games, which is really awesome. I hope I get this to work!
  13. I'm on vacation this week, we just got back from Mammoth Cave Kentucky. I already cooked some pancakes for breakfast, and my Yoga Flame cab is supposed to arrive today! It's going to be a good day.
  14. I just want to echo what Isgoed just said above. That's exactly what you do to beat level 2.
  15. I just read the 100th issue of EGM again, and was about to make this thread as a 25 year retrospective, but then I did a search and found this old thread. So much time is passing I'm forgetting what I've already done before. (People have been born and graduated high school since I wrote this!) I still like the list and still dislike some of the recency bias of the time, with so many contemporary sports titles on the list, when those could have been other games from more classic systems. There is a ton of Nintendo on there but I can't argue against all those awesome SNES titles, I mean, they have really stood the test of time and I still play every single one of them that appeared on the list. Ah well, it's been almost 25 years. I can add that I remember they included 1 poster with each issue of 98, 99, and 100 that combined to make a large poster that had all 100 EGM covers on it. I thought that was cool. Good times.
  16. Please don't tell me your first Jag experience is going to be Checkered Flag. We all know how this story ends.
  17. Super Gameboy is terrific! It addressed everyone's main gripe about the handheld, BACKLIGHT.
  18. Pre-orders are live for that Yoga Flame SF2 cab, and the MS. Pac special edition. I ordered the Yoga Flame edition, it has a phenomenal game list, couldn't pass it up. Games: STREET FIGHTER™II TURBO: HYPER FIGHTING SUPER STREET FIGHTER™II TURBO STREET FIGHTER™II: CHAMPION EDITION KING OF DRAGONS™ STREET FIGHTER™ PROGEAR BATTLE CIRCUIT™ SUPER PUZZLE FIGHTER™ SATURDAY NIGHT SLAM MASTERS™ CAPCOM SPORTS CLUB™ FINAL FIGHT™ GIGA WING™ CAPTAINCOMMANDO™ ARMORED WARRIORS™
  19. Good list of games, but it's never Racing Destruction Set
  20. I've also had the same issue with the VS not recognizing both carts. It hasn't been a huge problem, but with more people speaking up, it is obviously some hardware issue that needs addressed.
  21. -Receiving a 2600 Jr for Christmas in 1986. Had Battlezone, Vanguard and Jungle Hunt as my first 3 carts. Everyone else was getting NES, but I was still ecstatic about my Atari. -Being able to play the Atari 5200 at my cousin's once in awhile. It was like another level of video gaming at the time, I was so envious. -Riding my BMX bike to various thrift shops and Goodwill, picking up loose Atari 2600 carts here and there. The first loose 2600 cart I found 'in the wild' like this was Casino for $1. I didn't know at the time that this would become a life long 'thing' I did, and it would blossom into a 300+ cart collection. I have since sold that collection, but it was a great 30 year joyride. -Bought my first 7800 brand new at Montgomery Ward when it was in the same case as Genesis and Turbo Grafx-16. It cost me $80, and the games were cheap too. I can't remember what games I bought at first, but I was able to get quite a few cheap at Toy's R Us as well as Montgomery Ward. Back when TRU had those tags you had to take to the counter for them to fetch your game. -A friend and I rode our PUCH mopeds for an hour each direction to get to the nearest Toy's R Us so we could buy our Atari LYNX II systems. Further trips on the mopeds would happen to buy games for it. I was probably 15 years old at the time. Slime World, Warbirds and Checkered Flag were among the first games we bought to play multiplayer. -I pre-ordered my first Atari Jaguar from a local game store called Mega Games. To this day, it's the only game system that I pre-ordered. It came with Cybermorph, and I bought Trevor McFur which was also available when I went to pick up my system. I loved Cybermorph, I thought I was finally playing a game on par with the PC's some of my friends had. It wasn't really that long after, I was able to get Raiden, then Tempest 2000, and then Alien vs. Predator. To me, the Jaguar was the greatest console out there, but then Sony happened. Doesn't matter, the Jag is still my all time favorite and that will never change! For the record, all my friends I ever showed the Jaguar too thought it was amazing.
