As I said: Homebrews are the real evil. Kill them all!
-
I think the game is underestimated. Its not great, but by far not the worsed Intellivision-Game. If this would be a homebrew, it would also by far not be the worsed home brew and of course it would be celebrated.

Getting invincible seems pretty game breaking for me.
-
Is nice to see, that homebrews still are burning down the community May just stop making new games and we all can enjoy what we have TOGETHER And lets be true, m-crew is right that the quality went a bit down. I mean Copter Command has gamebreaking issues and Game Factory is not even working on PAL systems as far as I know. Most homebrews feel not well polished. See, I just start to feed the fire, so lets burry fucking homebrews, they bring nothing but hatred.

HSC Season 9 - Game 5 - Tropical Trouble (read scoring)
Ignorama replied to Ignorama's topic in Intellivision High Score Club
I looked it up from last contest: 10 Runs. The old record is 18.7, which is a lot of luck as well, but we are already close to see at least the red mountain and I am quite sure it will show up in this contest. -

Intellivision Controller Observation for 2018
Ignorama replied to Denicio's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Here you get the infos about the stick: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/213043-intv2-arcade-controller-pre-order-interest-list/ If you can spent the money and its available take one of these, you definitely will not regret it. They are just amazing, I bought two of them some years ago and I am very happy with it. Best Intellivision-Investment I could make. Its no joke, I really recomment these Sticks if the budget allows it. Worth every Penny. That said: They are not compatible to every game, because they do not support the full 16 directions, but for most games it doesnt matter and for some games its even better to limit it to 4 or 8 directions. I have said it very, very, very often and I still think it will show up again: Best Hardware for the Intellivision. Period. -
Intellivision Controller Observation for 2018
Ignorama replied to Denicio's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
You call the buttons from the original controller "nice"? To be honest, I think they are the actual worsed part of the controller, even worse than the disc. It starts to physically hurt the finger if you play in a HSC for a real long time using these buttons. They have a very strange response and feel just awkward. I have an Intellivision II, but not really played a lot with it, because I do not like the flat keypad and think its hard to impossible to play with that. So I can not really judge the side buttons, but the original ones were pretty bad imo. -
Intellivision Controller Observation for 2018
Ignorama replied to Denicio's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Best INTV Controller is the arcade stick form Grips. As Bill said, its not about the buttons, its about the disc which isnt very good often. The buttons are fine. I also like the original controller, but I have to admit that some games are much, MUCH better with the arcade stick and so I can't say that the original controller is very good at all, because it sometimes ruins the experience. So I am happy that a talented inventor took the issue and turned it into something great. -

I tried it out and still no problem. I died at 2.7, because I wasnt good at the bridge, but .6 was exactly the same with the original controller for me. -

The run in the Video was on a Intellivision with normal Controller. I will try out tomorrow if its much different in hard, but I think the stage looks pretty much the same like the one in hard. -

I think cparsley often had "any mode" as players choice, so I don't remember if we played on easy, it was some years ago. But it would still work to intentionally not progress for gaining points, I tried it out. I recommend watching the video in the "Choose your game" Thread, it probably helps a lot. @m-crew The level don't really matter for the progress. The only stage which is a real threat is the bridge and there its not really changing as far as I know. May its a bit faster from the beginning, but thats quickly not really the point anymore. When I tried out yesterday my first try was 6.7 and I'll be honest: In the higher stages its a lot of luck as well to not get hit on the bridge. In the video you see that its much YOLO -
HSC 9 - Choose your game for Round 5
Ignorama replied to Ignorama's topic in Intellivision High Score Club
Me-me and my job will be done after this season. I dont have time for this kindergarten. Some time ago there was no poll, players played what the moderator decided and that wasnt even a problem. Today I have discussions because you dont like to choose out of 5 if your wish isnt in these 5. Well, then feel free to take my kingdom after this season, because I said from the start that I dont think I fit in this role and I have no desire in taking shit for doing it in the way I think is the best way. I wont change my behavior, but at least the end is nigh. I am done here. Thanks for not participating and still spoiling, I appreciate it. -
HSC 9 - Choose your game for Round 5
Ignorama replied to Ignorama's topic in Intellivision High Score Club
I dont think its a good HSC game. Plain and simple. So I put better games in the voting. And to be honest: I dont have the feeling it makes sense to discuss with you. I spent a lot of time in our Star Strike discussion and it was completely wasted time, because you never even considered that your opinion is wrong. You also not even participated once, so your wanted games do not really have a big priority. Its still not rejected because you suggested it, its really rejected because I think it would be a bad choice, but I dont see any point in bringing arguments to you. And yeah, its probably arrogant, but I do this thing in my free time and I am not enjoying the conversations with you, so it kind of spoils my freetime. Just my honest thoughts on that. -
We are playing Tropical Trouble. Game mode is hard (press 6 on the title screen). The round ends on 28th of January at 23:59 CET. This game wont reward the highest score, it will reward the progress. The game has 7 screens (two on the beach, two in the jungle, two in volcano land and one final battle on the bridge). You can see the progress on the final screen after you are game over, because the character stays there. I wrote a explanation how to determine your position here: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/213831-tropical-trouble-normal-scoring-mechanism-read-only/page-2?do=findComment&comment=2787045 There is also a screenshot to compare. Everytime you beat the boss at the bridge you earn a green mountain symbol at the bottom left. If you beat the game over and over again you will get a red mountain (I think it was after 9 runs or something like this). This will keep counting the completed runs for you, just take a picture of the full game over screen. Now how you determine your score: Look up your position on the screen, this will be X.1-7, as I explained in the link above. If you die on the 4th screen in the first run your final progress is 0.4. If you die on the 4th screen with 3 green mountain-symbols your score is 3.4. If you have trouble to understand that please ask, but I guess its much easier to understand when you see examples, which should follow soon. If two players share the same progress the lower score of them will be rewarded with the better ranking. Why this complicated scoring? Thats simple, because unfortunately Tropical Trouble allows to camp in the first levels forever and gaining infinite points without any risk of dying. So its completely impossible to take the points to consideration. For that reason this time the progress will be the most important thing. Good luck and have fun. If you have any questions feel free to ask here. Standings after 4 rounds: 1. Ignorama - 36 2. m-crew - 26 3. Crade - 13 4. Alpha-Male - 8 5. S.Baz - 7 6. Intymike - 6 7. scalpel - 5 8. jblenkle - 3 9. Robin Hudson - 2 9. Gernot - 2 11. darthkur - 1 11. Mister-VCS - 1

HSC Season 9 - Game 4 - Worm Whomper
Ignorama replied to Ignorama's topic in Intellivision High Score Club
1st) Ignorama - 186.665 - 10 Points 2nd) m-crew - 173.601 - 6 Points 3rd) S.Baz - 81.676 - 4 Points 4th) Scalpel - 13.448 - 3 Points Just 4 participants in a game like Worm Whomper surprises me a lot to be honest. And as a hint post game: Until wave 8-10 you can try to keep all the corn alive, but then you have to let it go. I tried to stay as long as possible with 4 plants and then protected the last 2 as well. Its better to keep the plants at the bottom of the screen, because if your weapon breaks you can replace it faster in the barn. And keep the "bombs" as long as possible. They are very handy to kill these monster snails and worms in the late game, or to rescue desperate situations. -
