So yeah I said it: Coleco Donkey Kong is way better than Deep Pockets.
-
The reason it wasn't released is because it was 1990 and INTV Corp was shutting down. I wouldn't say it's terrible. I think there's slowdown due to the processing needed; that might look like bad physics. It simulates ball spin and I appreciate all the game variations. I think they could have had a computer AI player.
I know its not the official reason, but its really not good. As a collector: Sure, I'll take it. As a gamer: Wow that game sucks. May its nice as a tech demo or something like that, but its really a bad game and if it would have been released as the 126th it would be the worsed by far of the whole library. I get your points with some impressive things, but all in all its really nearly unplayable (and personally I cut the neartly, its just unplayable)
-
@Mike
I know the game, I own it. And its terrible. The flickering is bad, but the gameplay and the physics are awful as well. There is a good reason why this was unreleased imo

-
The other two games will have the same treatment, though I am not sure what kind of cases the bootleg printing had. The other two titles have been mentioned in this thread.
Are the ROMs if the other games any different, or exactly the same? Because if its really Deep Pockets its pretty unplayable and I am not sure if the other games are very polished.
Just look at this monstrosity:
Its just terrible, really

Looks great. To be honest, I am pretty sure the TNT Cowboy Gameplay is more my cup of tea and I also prefer the art-style there, but this is a must buy as well when its ready to order. Great job!

I just remembered: If Spiker gets a reprint, its a obvious assault towards this club: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/241592-the-exclusive-intellivision-i-still-dont-have-a-fcking-spiker-club/

-
Personally I am not a Fan of gatefold (here the booohs, dont mind them), but I take what I get. And I am a collector who plays with his games

-
If Spiker is in this Set the Price will plummet for sure. People who want a complete Collection have to buy Spiker. Hopefully its a reasonable Price, so about 60-70 Bucks for a official Re-Release. In fact most people will count that towards a complete collection, because its official. So the demand on Spiker goes way down. Fun-Fact: The Re-Release will be more rare than Spiker, which is funny

As a owner of Spiker I appreciate it. Its nice to see that people get closer to there goal without having to spend tons of money. I wonder if it was already answered, but its unlimited in theory? So if there would be 10k people order the game everyone would get a copy?

I never even considered to finance my collection like this. But I was lucky to find some people here who gave me insane prices or trades to come closer to my goal of 125. I said it before, especially cmart and scalpel gave me awesome deals!

Its called reselling, because he bought several copies to resell and grow his collection for years, he admitted that already in the past. If its okay for you: Fine. I disagree, but its your choice.
Everyone here has sold off extras of things and there is nothing wrong with that.
I actually did it myself. For the price I paid for it, because as a collector I wont make profit out of artificial (note: Its not about selling Spiker for 60 bucks, its about brandnew homebrew collectibles) rarities I hoarded. And especially not even thinking to buy several copies to sell some of for hundreds of dollars. You dont blame it, well I do.
-
-
You bought multiple copies of games and sold the copies. You are a reseller, there is no discussion about that. Maybe you are selling off your stuff completely today, but you have a dark history. And you surely remember we had talks like this before, because it really sickens me how people like you make profit out of the sweet work of others. A ton of profit btw. 700 Dollars, lol.
Edit: Dealing fair, grabbing money out of the community, lol. As I said before: Just another greedy reseller. And one with a long and known past of reselling stuff.
-
and then 'Complete in Box' Pre-orders.
Nice!

So just 440 profit? How generous.
-
Well, it wouldnt surprise me at all. He was always a reseller with ridiculous prices. My salt level is rising again and again when it comes to this part of my hobby

-
This is a big risk for the publisher. I completely get your point, but I wont punish every publisher for the misstakes a few others have done. I would place a pre order for a CiB game, even if it means paying in advance.
Oh, I better ad: I wont pay more than 70. Its already a pretty high cap, but its definitely my cap.
-
FYI, seller is marnold (AA member).
Are you sure? He sold with his AA name on Ebay as well iirc
-
Ninja Odyssey is good game and Kai_Magazine is great developer. I hope this all works out and you make games for years.
I dont disagree from what I saw so far. But its not about him, the game or his skills, its about the selling methode of buying piece after piece. It makes an already expensive game (yeah its high quality, but 70 bucks are also expensive) more expensive and less accessable. Which may directly hurt the sales.
I just can repeat it again, buying piece after piece and paying multiple international shippings for one complete game isnt the right way to go. So if there will be only a CiB version if the cart only sells well enough I am out for supporting the CiB version, because I am only willing to buy it CiB and not a single cart just in the hope to maybe someday get the rest of the game for another payment and another 20 bucks for shipping.
-
If not enough carts sell by the time you would call it, you might as well offer to take preorders for the box at double the planned price, or whatever price makes it worthwhile.
I guess 70$, which is already pretty premium, is the estimated price. So you really suggest to sell it for 140? I guess one or two guys would pay that, yeah. But thats it, most players wont do this. You really overestimate the market for Intellivision Games, its small, very small.
-
Are you discussing how to break the copy protection in public? I hope I get something wrong here

Not buying the game until it's CiB and not making boxes until there are enough units made is a vicious circle which will only end on no more games of this kind being made due to lack of support.
Easy solution: Pre Order. Elektronite has a good reputation and everyone know the game is ready. So just open a CiB Pre-Order, may even paid and there is no circle. As a customer I am just not willing to buy everything in parts. It was the same for Old School back then and to be honest: Its wasting of money, because I have to pay shipping twice, just to get a CiB game.
I know we had some issues with pre orders in the community, but as a trustworthy seller Elektronite easily could offer this and everyone would be happy.
Edit: And I also get your point, but I really dont get the problem with paying a game and getting it when its ready. You as a developer would get money and me as a customer would safe unnecessary costs.
-
Is this bug fixed in the remaining stock? I dont consider to buy the game until its available CiB.
-
Way too silence about this game, where is the hype? I am completely on the hype train!!! Choo Choo
