Got one of those cheap $35 "858D" hot air stations from eBay today. Holy shit, that thing gets hot fast. Assuming it doesn't die on me the first few times I use it, it'll be great for my needs: preheating boards, shrink tubing, loosening stuck pins after desoldering, etc.

Short version of the story: seller clearly didn't know anything about the system or how to test it, and I scored a beautifully working DINA (apart from minor RF drifting with some games) for well below market value.
