  1. gut it and put a modern system in the retro case, suprised the boat anchor actually still works pentium 4's were in that magical time where all the capacitors were made out of lead and snot and had a 3 year lifespan just sitting in the box
  2. or GR (return) COLOR = 9 (return) should be orange on a color monitor) HLIN 0,39 at 20 (return) VLIN 0,39 at 20 (return) should draw a cross in the center of the screen please note I have not delt with apple II hardware faults or apple II in general in like 5 years now so I am just shooting from the hip (grew up with them, had a collection, moved on to machines I didn't have)
  3. k, get back into basic GR (return) COLOR = 9 (return) HLIN 0,39 at 10 (return) see if you get a line on the 10th row
  4. can you enter graphics mode GR return could be ram (kind of doubtful) or something to do with the ram interface could be rom could be the video shift register have you pulled the motherboard and looked for rotten traces?
  5. yea lets be more realistic, its really more like this PS: I am so glad I recently bought the most powerful computer I could afford, then custom modded every single part of it to bring you quality like that
  6. ill add in try it on a different screen, its just a composite video output nothing special
  7. the only issue arises when you hit one of the switches before the other, which happens, so you think you pushed up and it goes right (or whatever combo) most sticks today have the option to remove a plastic part and re-orient it to be 8 way or only 4 way which is limiting unless you come up with some quick change method, or honestly you get used to playing 4 way stick games on a 8 way and with a short amount of time you become more precise with your movement and its not a big deal I use an 8 way all the time, sure it's a little disorienting when frogger moves left when you slap up but within a few play sessions your mind adapts for what its worth I use a short stick on my icade made by zippy, mainly for the fact that machine's distance from control panel to bottom of screen is so short I needed it for meat hand clearance and 2 its a lot less floppy and easier to direct intentionally on a small form factor
  8. dreamcast was online before ps2 was on sale, but in general anything that gen onward is not retro to me, heck they were still making brand new games for the thing up till 2014ish and you could buy new games at walmart a few years ago
  9. Id take it all but no way to get it from Arizona the real lesson is if you bought some boxes and put a little up front in work you could have made a couple grand instead of begging someone to take it from you in a very limited area I mean I sold a meh apple IIc to some dude in south Korea on ebay shipped in a diaper box and still made 195 bucks after fees and postage (to kentucky they picked it up from there) took a whole 20 min of my life much less time than you whining about shipping and threatening to recycle it all over the last month or so

    Emulation?

been playing handy with wireless usb joystick support and no filters for like a decade now joysticks are a function of your OS, dunno what to tell you
  11. not so easily there's a bios limitation on machines that limit the hard disk to 8 gig along with a shit ton of others depending on make and bios http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Large-Disk-HOWTO-4.html I have run into BIOS Int 13 - the 8.5 GB limit many times with high end 486's to socket 7 machines (and 40 gig limits on many super socket 7 + machines, which annoyed me endlessly during the early 00's) heck I just sold a machine that was an ATX form factor pentium MMX 266 Mhz that capped out at 8.47GB in bios ... slapped in a 8 gig drive added a disclaimer to the listing and off she went to a new home, cause even an 8 gig disk with network and USB is unlimited for the era
  12. waiting for mine to show up but lets keep something in mind around the year 2000 I was sporting a 1.8GHz amd athlon XP single core 32 bit cpu with a geforce 2 GTX and it was running N64 pretty well for what was compatible at the time, so its not really if the RAS-PI can handle it, it can especially in the 4 variant, but how good is the emulator used in retropi more recent example is my nintenputer, its a dual core 1.8ghz atom with a 512 mb Geforce GTX 210 GPU, and the emulator cores within retroarch it couldnt run N64 worth a squat, like 4 fps and horrid audio at low resolution. Using project 64 its smoothing everything out and running 720p at 60FPS in many titles Not sure if I remember what emulator retropie was using, but even in the linux world I had similar results using lakka and retropie X86 builds on that machine, so if you have found it lacking in the past, just the bump in horsepower should get you decent results as long as they are staying out of the retroarch cores for anything above SNES era (I love retroarch to death but it seems to squander resources when it comes down to it) ps: the nintenputer is still for sale lol
  13. they exist (unlike the 5 atari branded cel phones, that retro handheld thing from 2015, the atari branded game band which was a scam, and entering its 3rd year of development the atacobox)
  14. unless they are going to expedite everything it should have happened about 2 months ago, and PV builds should have been around the new year to work out all dem bugs that one off prototypes wont show you
  15. And yes I have written at least 2 raycast "engines" just not on atari
  16. relevant in other topics as well
  17. the op already has it, it already has a screen, it already has mass storage, it already has a power supply
  18. Gamestop has a good deal there, if I preorder from them I get the console in december, maybe january and they dont bill me until the shipment is processed
  19. ya the ps4 is not that powerful of a machine in 2019, the pro is already over 2x as powerful
  20. AMD 386 DX 25 Intel 486 DX2 66 Intel pentium 60 Intel pentium 133 Intel pentium 133 Should work have no clue of they do or not Take 1 one or them all free + postage get them out of my garage and good luck
