that was the most retarded thing I have seen this week
wow a Russian spy inserted the guts of a old wireless thermometer into your gameboy, conveniently after you took it apart and broke the speaker connection
clap clap, way to scam a dozen free gameboys ... surely they didn't end up as rare vintage units on ebay, being someone that totally wouldn't fabricate FUD on the internet.
this kid at best is a clown, at worst a future con artist

cd lasers are pretty accurate two way devices, you just cant willy-nilly replace something and expect it to track
-
that is really a steal considering that CPU is 85 bucks brand new on most sites
I dont need it, but posting my support, its a good deal if you are in the market

bump: CX85 keypad is pending via serious buyer

really he could spin a PCB and get 10 made up for 10 bucks + shipping and save a lot of hassle, theres maybe 5 bucks worth of parts even in small bulk quantity, charge 2 bucks for the PCB and add some overhead for labor.
its a relay, some resistors, zener diode, LEDs, a box and connectors, the box and connectors being the most expensive parts if he was not manually dead bugging it and exploding his labor investment.
take my virtual serial host project, I have nearly a couple dozen parts that make up a small computer talking to an SD card to emulate PC software to communicate to an apple II and have an official asking price of 40$ + shipping while only doing very small batches of 10. seems like a lot of effort which makes this thing overly expensive for what it actually does.
electronic devices dont have to be mass produced to achieve a decent price ratio, its about exploring your options, yea 50 bucks seems perfectly fair considering this thing is hand made in just about every aspect, but in reality a evening poking at digikey and a cad program could reduce the physical labor and cost dramaticly, even in batches of 10, it could be a 20 dollar or less uint, that reqires much less effort, better quality and more "street cred" potentially selling more ... saving more systems which I gather is the entire point.
I actually work in mass production of electronic circuits, and if the maker is interested in making his life easier, his product cheaper, more reliable, and more available, I am more than willing to share what I know to help make this a need more than a niche want.

nevermind I get it now

jailbars are usually present in the old systems, but they go though tons of EMC testing before even being presented, and are reduced to a minimum though emission qualifications
you would be surprised how much a single trace being routed a magical way can actually effect that, and it may only effect it in that situation on your bench, something new may pop up that you have never seen before.
Electronics are typically sent to a lab where they are subjected to a very wide range of RF in an isolated chamber. That's why your no budget projects usually have minor issues, and the real deal, even though 30 years behind the times in tech and design dont

Random stuff I need to get rid of... continental US shipping only please
GONE TO A GOOD HOME
Atari Computer CX85 numeric keypad, bought it last month from a forum member, thought I needed it for a hack project, turned out I found a better solution. Bought it for 5 bucks here + shipping, you pay the same. UNTESTED, but its a keypad matrix for Atari, what could go bad?
Netgear G mode wifi router + 4 port 10/100 Ethernet switch, used it for years, works but needed more oomph in my steel studded apartment to please the wife in order to operate hulu on the wii and our wireless printer gathered in the last couple years , been on 24-7 for at least 6 years.
5$ + shipping
Nvidia Gefore 9600GT, 512mb PCIe 16x, Great video card for older machines, made by sparkle with a basic reference board design with a non boxed in dust collecting cooling system.Dual DVI output + Component / composite / svideo din port and a DVI to VGA adapter, 25$ + shipping.
Xevious for Atari 7800 CIB, box is smashed to hell, especially at the bottom, cart is in brand new condition, pitiful instruction "book", and warranty card included both in good condition. 5$ + shipping.
Hard drives:
All these drives have been tested working at some point during my ownership, I will test and format them upon inquiry and before accepting payment ... it just hard to spend a whole day testing hard drives that may end up back in the bin for another decade.
Seagate U series, ATA-66 (might be 100mbs) 10GB IDE, plastic broken on IDE connector, kind of dirty 5$ + shipping
Maxtor ATA-133 40GB IDE drive, salvaged from a Tivo 10$ + shipping
Quantum Fireball, 20GB IDE drive, drive works fine, but is loud, could last 6 weeks, could last 20 years, free + shipping
Seagate 8.something GB IDE drive from original XBOX, works great, and is unlocked for use in any system 5$ + shipping
WD enterpise level 2GB SCSI drive. 68 pin connector, old school SCSI loud, sounds bad ass if you like your computer sounding like a terminator taking flight, 15$ + shipping
Computers:
Macintosh Performa 430 (mac lc II) 020 motorola cpu, system 7, 10MB ram (though technically 12 is installed, its a system limit) 120MB quantum scsi hard disk, 1.44 3.5 inch floppy disk. No KB or mouse, little finicky about what monitors are plugged into it (most mac CRT's work, one of my LCD's work with adapter, the other doesn't) 10$ + shipping.
DEC 386SL-25 laptop. 4Mb ram, basic 256k VGA (640x480x16 or 320x240x256) color Dual Scan LCD. 540MB hard disk with drive overlay software, MS-DOS 7.0
detachable ps/2 micro trackball, 1.44MB 3.5 inch floppy, ps/2, vga, 9 pin rs232, printer and some obscure expansion port. pretty sure this is a rebranded ASUS design as ASUS and TI both have similar laptops. No battery, no power supply (requires 24 volts @ 2.2 amps with battery in, been using it fine with a 18 volt generic HP supply)
since there is no power supply I am including a 10/100 PCMCIA Ethernet card, PS/2 generic optical mouse, and a carry case.
the 386SL is a 386SX in a SMT format with many of the support chips integrated giving its L designation as in 386SLarge Scale Integration, it has socket for i387SL math co-processor, non populated (bout 30 bucks on ebay)
Ethernet card has a dongle, which one of the clips broke off of, so its now glued into place, and not removable, just FYI. system comes with drive overlay and dos floppy disk if want to install freedos or whatever, featured on HACK-A-DAY and SLASHDOT... for whatever thats worth
25$ + shipping

all my old mac's have that feel
wipe them down with some 99% iso and rub your finger on them, its still "slick", something about that plastic recipie, my //c is similar in that regard as well
-
modems were available back in the day, but no one had them cause they were expensive and the idea at the time was kind of dumb
-
dont most mac's turn on from the keyboard (I know the SE doesnt but every model afterwords do) and if your going for the ultimate SE look alike wouldnt it be on the back left?
just thinking
-
whud i miss?
-
as much as someone is willing to pay for it ... otherwise nothing

The apple II stayed on the market from 77 to 92, not sure how much more time it would have required
-
what does the 69th post win?
-
I have a model M as well, and yea most things have a serial number if the maker gives even the tiniest hoot about quality or warranty
-
it should work, I have done much worse connecting stereo to mono devices with Y splitters
-
the MS basic book, for what version?

-
I dont even have a colecovision (though I did when I was a kid)

well in all fairness they only made a handful, there cant be many of the 30 or so million they made left out there
/sarcastic tone

never have warmed up to 6

here's one I did, though complicated since the electronics are inside the VCR head, but its a mouse chip, an IR pair from radio shack, and a pattern printed on paper, and instead of trying to line up tiny little slots it uses reflection

A bunch of Atari stuff up for sale!
