  1. i had the famicom version of those for a while, they were nice, though I am one of those people that have a joystick problem, as I am always trying to find yet another one so I tried something else but had sold the 8bitdo and then got rid of that something else and got something that was super awesome but it was 2.4 ghz so required a dongle and fell asleep too easy, then got my basic wired logitech which I have had for a month and its good but already looking at options im like a guitar guy or a computer keyboard guy but with controllers, so I try not to chime in too much, my wife says I have a mental condition about them
  2. Get a 3b+ they haven't updated retropi for 4 yet and everything else is going to be old or cause more confusion The retro pi website has good instructions
  3. Rasberry pi is a PC, its not a intel / windows pc, its an arm / linux pc but in the grand scheme of things its no different than plugging in a laptop to a tv (smart or not) Personal preference, I just use a modern gamepad. Yea that breaks all sorts of copyright and legal stuff which is why they look like a game of whack a mole, its probably fine, but its being sold from a shady dealer, good luck no, usually once you have the system setup and working you don't have to touch it .. now getting it to that point may make you want to hate life cause its a single board linux computer with a volatile software history and everyone one and their brother writing "advice" about it which was outdated the next day. That being said its calmed down a lot with the release of the model 3 boards so anything semi modern in helpful articles should be fine (but then the pi foundation release the 4 which is basicly incompatible with every freaking thing to date ... good job guys)
  4. don't support them at all and they won't have the chance to screw up
  5. Yea Polymega is shipping, I have been getting circuit boards out of china since mid February, these assbags have pretty much said "virus" and and ran
  6. I prefer pokey sound and like listening to chiptune music on my atari, but compared to the sid, it really is a inferior chip in regards to music. I mean the sour sound of a out of tune honkey tonk piano does start to grate.
  7. dunno about those, I bought a bag like 4 years ago
  8. I have always used 100 to 220 uF for video outputs, with the defaults typically being 100uF, course not with coleco and RGB and not generic op-amps but yes 47 in general seems quite low just for ntsc
  9. yes I much prefer the immersed in liquid methods than paste with snot and wrap in plastic, I have had slow results, but in the decade I have been doing it, never a botched result here in the TN sun I will add, stirring the mixture on a schedule helps a lot if you are using oxyclean type detergents (and for me that and standard grade drugstore peroxide helps much more than strong peroxide and not much else)
  10. is nintendo even in the same market segment at this point
  11. riot chips are exposed directly to the real world though the cart slot and joystick ports and thus make them prone in my limited sampling of only 100ish dead atari's I actually find dead No Problem Found / user error / dirty contacts CPU RIOT TIA and I do not think I have ever found a machine with 2 chips dead at once from the wild unopened, but its 1970's tech luck will vary
  12. I had a 120mhz candybar phone with windows CE that could run NES games over a decade ago
  13. yes I see dumb people do stupid crap all the time, 200$ for anything on the 7800 is quite silly considering the library
  14. Asteroids, giant ass rock floating in space UH DURH I am going to make a spin off where you blow up shit on planets, that's never been done god help us all
  15. interesting question that would change the history of the world, do you have a USB or ps/2 mouse - keyboard converter that goes to ADB, you could print money with that I have made a few but talking to ADB devices is much simpler than talking to ADB host's ... crack that nut 100% and its free money
